United Kingdom: BBC Studios retain the right to produce Eurovision content until 2028!

The BBC Studios have renewed their contract for the coverage and creation of Eurovision content, in the vicinity of the United Kingdom, until 2028!

After this year’s contest, the BBC studios retained their right for coverage of the Eurovision Song Contest, on behalf of the BBC. The tender was launched in February 2024 and following strong competition, BBC Studios’ bid scored highest against the published criteria.

The new contract will be in force, starting in 2026, and is about the televised coverage of the semi-finals and the final of Eurovision Song Contest, for two more years, until 2028. In case the United Kingdom wins Eurovision during this period, the BBC will hold a different competition in order to decide the producer of the British-produced Eurovision.

The BBC Studios will also work along with the BBC for the selection of the British act for Eurovision, and they will oversee his live performance in the contest.

Kalpna Patel-Knight, head of the Entertainment Department of the BBC stated the following:

“Eurovision is one of the key annual events that brings the nation together and we look forward to working with the BBC Studios to deliver its ongoing success in the years ahead. This was an extremely competitive process and we would like to commend the shortlisted producers for the high quality and comprehensive proposals they put forward.”

This year, the United Kingdom was represented by Olly Alexander and his song “Dizzy” which ended up in 18th place of the Grand Final, with 46 points, all from the jury voting:
