Albania: The running order for the first two nights of Festivali i Këngës 62!

Even at this early stage, the Albanian national selection is already underway. Festivali i Këngës 62, which will indicate the next Albanian representative in Malmö is scheduled to take place as usual in late December.

With the preparations of FiK 62 underway, RTSH held a press conference today, revealing, inter alia, the running order for the first two nights of the competition.

Specifically the running order for the first two nights of Festivali i Këngës 62 is the following:

On the aforementioned list, we can notice that the names of Samanta and Kejsi Tola are missing. Indeed, Samanta and Kejsi Tola were replaced by Irma Lepuri and the PeterPan Quartet respectively. The withdrawal of those two artists was revealed just after the announcement of FiK 62 regulations, which were probably the motive that gave them the rise of stepping out of the competition.

Which are FiK 62 regulations?

Although, it was announced that the winner of Festivali i Këngës 62 and hence the Albanian representative in Eurovision 2024 would be decided by both a jury committee and the audience on a 50/50 proportion, it turns out that this scenario is not true. At the press conference today, it was mentioned that the system will remain the same as last year. This means that the jury of the festival will choose the winner of Festivali i Këngës 62 and the TV audience the representative of the country.

The two winners may not be the same, as happened last year when the winner of Festivali i Këngës was Elsa Lila, while the representatives of the country were Albina & Familja Kelmendi.

More announcements regarding the competition

The running order has been decided for the first two nights of this year’s FiK. Moreover, it was mentioned that on the third night, the “big” artists will perform with singers who no longer participate, while the “new” artists will sing in a duet, a song from Eurovision.

Then, the finalists will be announced after the end of the third night.

Albania was represented in Liverpool by Albina & Familja Kelmendi with their song “Duje“. Albania managed to return to the Grand Final, finishing 10th in the public voting and 22nd overall.

Albania: The public will choose the 2024 Eurovision representative, while the jury the winner of Festivali i Këngës 62!

A while ago the RTSH press conference for the Festivali i Këngës 62 that is going to take place in December was concluded and we learned some very interesting things!

The first and most important change is the method of selecting the winner. Some time ago we learned that the audience and the committee will choose together the winner of the festival, and at the same time the representative of Albania in the Eurovision Song Contest 2024. However, at the press conference, it was mentioned that the system will remain the same as last year.

Then it was mentioned that on the third day, the “big” artists will perform with singers who no longer participate, while the “new” artists will sing in a duet, a song from Eurovision. The finalists will be announced after the end of the third night. Last but not least, one of the presenters of this year’s Festivali i Këngës will be Andriana Matoshi.

Withrdawals after the press conference

After the end of the press conference and the announcement of the regulations, two singers decided to withdraw from Festivali i Këngës 62. These two artist were Samanta and Kejsi Tola, who will be replaced by Irma Lepuri and the PeterPan Quartet respectively .

Festivali i Këngës 62 is expected to take place around the end of December and will include 27 artists, 14 in the “big” category and 13 newcomers.

Eurovision 2024: The rules of Eurovision 2024 are released! | The ratio between juries and televoting is still not specified!

EBU has released through the official Eurovision website the rules of the 2024 contest to be held in Malmö, Sweden.

What needs to be pointed out is that the National Juries and the National Audiences will be combined according to a ration which will be decided later. More specifically the rules specify:

“In the Final; the points of the National Audiences and of the National Juries shall be combined according to a ratio which is determined by the EBU, subject to the Reference Group approval, to calculate the official result of the Final.

For example, if the ratio is 50-50, the points of the National Jury carry the same weight as the points of the National Audiences”

As it seems there are also still no plans to introduce the use of Auto-Tune in the contest and use of such or lipsyncing are explicitly prohibited. The pre-recorded backing vocals are still allowed in this year’s contest too.

Do you think that there will be a later announcement for a change in the ratio of combined voting, by EBU? Let us know in the comments section below!

Estonia: 35 judges evaluated the Eesti Laul 2024 entries!

Hanna-Liina Võsa (a finalist of the 1997 Estonian selection) disclosed to the radio station “Vikerhommikus” that she is a member of the special jury, which consists of 35 people and which assessed the 215 entries that were submitted for Eesti Laul 2024.

The Estonian public television received 215 song submissions in total, which were assessed by a 35-person special panel. Hanna-Liina Võsa, a jury member, had listened to 186 songs by Saturday morning. She expressed her excitement about becoming a part of the jury and clarified that her evaluation of the songs is primarily based on her personal taste. Hanna-Liina Võsa believes that it’s important that the song captures your attention right away.

I still have a few songs to listen to, but luckily there’s about 24 hours left!

Even though there are some well-produced tracks, the ones that resonated with me were the ones that I ended up liking the most. These are now my top picks.

I’ve discovered that a song is unlikely to stick with me if it doesn’t grab my attention from the start. It ought to be captivating right away.

After evaluating the submitted songs, the 35-member special jury will select the 20 songs to advance to the next round of the competition. The 20 musicians that will take part in Eesti Laul 2024 will be revealed in a few days.

Of the 20 songs:

  • Five will be selected by the jury to qualify directly to the Grand Final
  • The Semi-Final will include the remaining fifteen competitors

Three entries will advance to the Super Final from the Grand Final, following voting by the jury and the television audience. At this point in the competition, the Estonian representative in Malmö will be determined solely by public voting.

The songs are expected to be released in early December. The semi-final will be held on January 20, while the Grand Final will take place on February 17.

The winner of Eesti Laul 2023 and Estonia’s representative at Eurovision 2023 was Alika with the song “Bridges”. Alika achieved her country’s best finish in the contest in years by placing eighth in the final.
