Finland: The Rasmus’ staging in Turin to include flying props!

The official account of UMK, the finnish national final, controlled by the public broadcaster YLE, has just brought to light information about The Rasmus‘ performance and staging in Turin via a Twitter post.

The post emphasizes that the band’s appearance on the Eurovision stage will be very different from their appearance in the finnish national final, which took place in February. In addition, many props in the air will be used, as they also seem to be referring to balloons.

Eurovision 2022: Behind the scenes of Turin stage construction!

The first images and videos of construction of the Eurovision 2022 stage at the PalaOlimpico in Turin can now be seen on social media.

There are already images from construction inside the arena suggest that the stage may be one of the largest in recent years of the contest:

The concept behind the design is called “The Sun Within” which relies on movements and light of a kinetic sun. The stage is able “to showcase theatrical motion, which is framed by water and will have a lush Italian garden lapping up the rays in front of it”.

There is a video on Twitter that shows the building of the stage:

The creative mind behind the design is Francesca Montinaro, who has also created the stages of Sanremo Music Festival two times (2013 and 2019), explained what inspired the idea for this years stage:

Italy, with its sun its sea, art and nature, but above all to represent Italians with their unique vocation to adapt and welcome.

Another video was posted that shows a large LED wall behind the stage construction:

Also it has been known through Instagram that viewers can also expect an LED floor on the stage:

The design will also incorporate a Green Room at the front of stage which is inspired by the feel of baroque gardens such as those at Villa d’Este, Castel Gandolfo, Villa Lante or other estates across Italy, while the water reminds people of fountains in a park. Francesca Montinaro has explained that she wants to make sure that every artist has a platform to express their identity through the stage.

The Eurovision Song Contest returns to Italy this year following Måneskin’s victory at the 2021 contest with their song “Zitti e Buoni”. The 2022 contest will be hosted on 10th, 12th, and 14th May at the PalaOlimpico in Turin.

With less than 50 days before Eurovision 2022 kicks off, it’s time to see which songs have been used in the most videos on the social media app TikTok as of April 3rd.

On TikTok, next to having a library of music you can add on your videos in the app, some people upload videos to the app with the sound already included in the video. However, the clever TikTok algorithm is usually able to detect the song that is being used on the video, allocates it under the right song and then includes it on the number of total amount of videos where that sound has been used on.

The most used songs from Eurovision 2022 on TikTok are:

  1. Italy: Mahmood & Blanco – Brividi – 158.8K videos
  2. Ukraine: Kalush Orchestra – Stefania – 124.6K videos

In the past years, TikTok has played a big role on making Eurovision songs mainstream hits. For example, Duncan Laurence’s winning entry “Arcade” became a worldwide hit a year after winning the contest when being used in over a million videos on TikTok. One of the earliest TikTok hits from Eurovision was Getter Jaani’s “Rockefeller Street” that went viral on the app in 2018 and has been since used in over two million videos since.

Ukraine: Kalush Orchestra will perform live at Eurovision 2022!

According to the Ukrainian public broadcaster, Suspilne , the Kalush Orchestra will be present in Turin!

Winner of American Song Contest won’t perform at Eurovision 2022!

The winner of the American Song Contest will not appear at Eurovision in Turin , according to the competition’s executive producer Christer Björkman .

Speaking in an exclusive interview a few days after the second show of the American Song Contest, Björkman said that “it would not be possible” for the winner of the contest to appear as a guest at Eurovision next month.

Yeah I would like to see that eventually. This year is gonna be complicated because we moved our show [back] four weeks due to COVID so that complicated it. It’s now in the same week [as Eurovision] so I think that’s not even doable because obviously in Europe we wouldn’t keep a spot open like that. But in the future – if there is a future – yes, that would be great.

The last show of the competition for 2022 will take place on May 9, just one day before the first Semi-final of Eurovision. Because of these events, the appearance of the winner of the American Song Contest is impossible to be a part of Eurovision 2022.

American Eurovision fans who hope to see the appearance of last year’s winners Måneskin in the American competition this year will also be disappointed.

I would have loved to have Måneskin in our show. But being in the same week that’s also gonna be impossible. They will be totally blocked in Italy obviously. For a future final that would be great both ways I would say.
