Loreen wins #ESC250 again | Here are the detailed results of #ESC250 of 2024 by Songfestival.be!

Happy New Year everyone! The first article for 2025 could be no other but the results of the #ESC250 voting by Songfestival.be in collaboration and as presented via EFR12 Radio.

For the seventeenth year in a row, Songfestival.be conducted during November a poll, asking Eurofans to vote for their ten favourite Eurovision entries of all time. 2023, also, marks the first year that the results are announced via EFR12 Radio. Starting at 11:30 CET and for twelve hours straight, we had the chance to listen to what the Eurovision community considers as the all-time classics of the contest.

Hence, Loreen is the big winner of this year’s #ESC250 with her song “Euphoria“. Loreen represented Sweden in Eurovision 2012 with Euphoria and in 2023 with Tattoo which ended up in 2nd place.

France: ARTE Becomes a Member of the European Broadcasting Union!

The cultural television channel ARTE is the newest member of the European Broadcasting Union (EBU).

The Franco-German public broadcaster dedicated to culture, ARTE, has joined the European Broadcasting Union after being elected as a member at the EBU General Assembly in Lausanne earlier this month.

ARTE was established in 1990 as a cultural collaboration between France and Germany and now broadcasts in six languages. It is available in eight countries through television and online throughout Europe.

The broadcaster has been collaborating with EBU members on content for several years, and currently has agreements with: ZDF, ARD, RTBF, ORF, SSR SRG, ČT, RTÉ, Rai, Yle, and ERT. These collaborations enable content exchange and joint production of programs, enhancing cultural exchange and the variety of content offered to the public.

EBU Director General, Noel Curran, said:

ARTE’s commitment to high-quality, cross-border cultural programming complements our shared mission to strengthen and promote public service media across the continent. Their participation in the EBU will enhance our ability to drive innovation and create deeper ties across borders, enabling public service media to continue enriching the lives of audiences across Europe.

Bruno Patino, President, and Heike Hempel, Vice President of ARTE GEIE, said:

Joining the EBU aligns fully with ARTE’s European identity and development strategy. ARTE has been open to Europe since its inception, with the mission of bringing Europeans together through culture. We support the EBU’s ambitions to provide strong public broadcasting services across Europe, and we look forward to exchanging views on the current challenges in the sector, as well as sharing our knowledge.

Joining the European Broadcasting Union means that ARTE is now eligible to participate in EBU-organized competitions.

France: Official Eurovision 2025 announcements in late December / early January!

The first official announcements from France regarding the 2025 Eurovision Song Contest will probably me made by the end of the current year.

The Head of French Delegation in the Eurovision Song Contest, Alexandra Redde-Amiel, talked for the first time about the official plans of France in the upcoming contest in Basel, Switzerland. In her interview, Alexandra Redde-Amiel said:

“Several questions arise for Eurovision 2025. Expectations are high and the stakes are high. If we want to win, France must be extremely mobilized and our teams focused on the objective. What I can say is that there will not be an announcement as early as last year .”

According to the website, L’Eurovision Au Quotidien, the official announcements are expected either in the end of December or in the beginning of January.

France Télévisions faces backlash over sexual harassment allegations against Slimane!

France Télévisions is facing accusations and criticism over the selection of Slimane, as the country’s representative for Eurovision 2024 following the allegations of sexual harassment by the latter.

The chronicle

Past Monday a complain was filed on Slimane for sexually harassing one of the technicians on his tour in late 2023. Specifically, the events mentioned took place on December 17, 2023 at Saint-Etienne’s Zénith.

After Slimane’s performance that night, a technician claims that the singer “blocked him against a wall” and then “imposed an embrace” on him before strongly requesting they have sexual intercourse.

The technician allegedly returned to the tour bus after Slimane’s requests were turned down. The 35-year-old singer allegedly sent him “a multitude of messages and videos of a sexual, even pornographic nature” over the course of two and a half hours that night.

The following morning, the technician in question informed the production company and they decided to remove him from the tour along with another individual. Slimane’s tour was launched two weeks before these events took place and was not cancelled then.

Le Parisien gave publicity to the aforementioned event, having investigating the story since January. The victim was identified but did not wish to make it public until a few days ago.

Why did France Télévisions continued their collaboration with Slimane?

A month prior to the events, Slimane and his song “Mon Amour” were selected for Eurovision 2024. France Télévisions now faces questions about whether they knew about the incident and the singer’s inappropriate behavior, and if they did, why they kept working with him.

According to Le Parisien, the company that employed the technician in question notified France Télévisions of the incident by late December, and the broadcaster had been formally aware of it since early January.

On the other hand, a representative of France Télévisions claims that:

At the time, it was all about rumours, not proven facts. And our work does not depend on rumours.

Was France Télévisions afraid of a potential backlash?

The 2023 selection of La Zarra, whose inappropriate behavior sparked backlash in France, put France Télévisions in a weak spot and made them vulnerable to criticism. The singer herself let out a frustrated “middle finger” during the Liverpool voting sequence and after the public’s score for La Zarra’s entry was revealed.

France Télévisions may have wished to avoid making things public and drawing unfavorable attention out of fear of receiving additional criticism from the national media.

With sold-out dates on his upcoming tour, Slimane became a pan-European sensation after “Mon Amour” finished fourth overall and was unquestionably one of Europe’s favorites in Malmö.

France: With Kimberose or Lénie in Eurovision 2025?

No much time has passed from the buzz caused by the rumors that Louane will be lifting the tricolore at the Eurovision Song Contest 2025 in Basel, Switzerland, and already two new names have emerged.

According to French journalist Clément Garin‘s post on his X account, two new names seem to be being discussed in the corridors of the national broadcaster France Télévisions to represent France in Eurovision 2025. These two names are Kimberose and Lénie.

Kimberose is a 33-year-old pop & soul artist and has been on the rise for several years. After starting in 2015 by forming a self-titled group alongside Anthony Hadjadj, she has been active solo for several years. She has 4 studio albums to her credit and her latest, Roses, has just been released. She is best known for her duet with Grand Corps Malade “Nos plus belle années”.

Young Lénie emerged from Star Academy last year and meets all the criteria for Eurovision. As for the representation in Junior Eurovision talents are sought through The Voice Kids, so for Eurovision talents such as Amir and Slimane are sought. Lénie’s asset is that she can present a show in which she can sing and dance at the same time.

France: Louane denies rumors of Eurovision 2025 participation

Singer Louane will not represent France in the upcoming Eurovision competition. This Friday, with the release of her new album Solo, the artist decided to address and deny the rumors about her participation in the contest.

In an interview with the French newspaper Le Parisien, the 27-year-old singer clarified: “Despite the rumors, I won’t be taking part in Eurovision. I’m honored that people think of me for something like this, especially since I always watched it with my mother.”

However, Louane hasn’t ruled out the possibility for the future: “Why not one day, but my priority now is the album.”

Speculation about her potential participation arose after she canceled some live concerts during the period the competition will take place in Basel, and because she is soon releasing her new album. Many assumed one of the songs from the album might serve as France’s entry, a practice the French national broadcaster has followed for the last two years—selecting a song from an established local artist’s album to represent the country.

Junior Eurovision 2024: The music video of “Comme ci, comme ça” released!

Back in September, France Télévisions announced that Titouan will represent France in the 22nd Junior Eurovision Song Contest, with his entry “Comme Ci, Comme Ça“. While the French entry was released on the same day, just moments ago the music video of “Comme Ci, Comme Ça” was uploaded on the official Junior Eurovision’s YouTube channel.

“Comme Ci, Comme Ça” is composed by Malo, a talented young artist on the French music scene, and co-written with Marie Bastide. The song is an ode to tolerance and love, reminding us that our differences are our strengths.

How was Titouan selected?

France Télévisions chose its Junior Eurovision 2024 participant via an internal selection as usual. Both the song and the singer were selected internally.

Who is Titouan?

Titouan is fourteen years-old and is quite popular on social media, as his accounts count more than 100 thousand followers. A passionate drummer as well, Titouan quickly gained an audience on YouTube after he began uploading drum covers every week. He frequently had his guitarist father with him on them. Titouan has also performed on “The Voice Kids” and “Dream Team”.

The 22nd edition of the Junior Eurovision Song Contest will be held on November 16 in Madrid, Spain, following the country’s second-place finish last year and the refusal of the winning country, France, to host for the second year in a row. The slogan for this year’s contest is “Let’s Bloom!”, while Ruth Lorenzo, Marc Clotet and Melani Garcia will serve as this year’s hosts.

France with Titouan will perform sixth.

MTV EMA 2024: Eurovision artists nominated in this year’s awards!

The regional European MTV awards have a strong connection with Eurovision, as many artists emerge each year from the contest and introduce themselves into a wider audience. As a result, there could not be an MTV nominees list without the presence of Eurovision stars.

Eurovision nominees

Specifically, from the class of 2024, we have three artists nominated for their regional award categories:

  • Nemo: Best Swiss Artist
  • Angelina Mango: Best Italian Artist
  • Slimane: Best French Artist

Moreover, Noa Kirel, a multi MTV EMA winner, is once again nominated for Best Israeli Singer and Mahmood, who represented Italy in Eurovision 2019 and 2022, is also nominated for Best Italian SInger.
