Good Job Nicky: “If I do Eurovision this year, I won’t be leaving without a top-five finish or a victory!” | EXCLUSIVE

While we are waiting for ERT‘s announcements on the selection procedure for the Greek Eurovision 2024 entry, Good Job Nicky vehemently expresses his desire and candidacy for the forthcoming contest exclusively through Eurovisionfun.

The plan is to submit my proposal to ERT

Good Job Nicky affirmed once more, during our brief talk, that he intends to compete for the Greek representation in Malmö with a song he has already produced.

The plan is to submit our proposal to ERT! But what concerns me most of all is people’s trust. I want my country to support me. I’m up for it!

Of course, we had to ask about the song he is submitting for the competition. Good Job Nicky couldn’t help but be excited to respond to our question.

All I’m going to say is that if we were chosen this year, in my team’s and my perspective, I won’t be leaving without a top-five finish or a victory! The song is unique and unlike anything else out there.

Good Job Nicky’s song for Eurovision is ready since summer

The similar statement was made by the young singer a few months prior when he stated that he already has a song prepared for Eurovision 2024 in an interview with Grigoris Arnautoglou and The2night Show.

The song is finished. I already know what song I’ll perform, if I do it.

He also voiced disappointment in how ERT had chosen the Greek Eurovision entry Eurovision in recent years.

As we can see, the procedure has not been effective lately. If I were to do it, I would like to have the approval of greek people.

People are very smart. They will vote for the song that will give our country the best possible result.

The procedure is such a mess! It’s too much of a mess.

Pending ERT’s decisions

The process ERT will use to choose Greece’s entry for the 68th Eurovision Song Contest has not yet been made public.

The participation of Good Job Nicky or any other artist will depend on the method used by Greek public television to select the greek entry.

But as time goes on, it becomes less and less likely that a national final will be held this year.

Ε. Eleftheriou: “The Eurovision chapter is not yet over for me”!

In an exclusive interview with FTHIS.gr, Eleftheria Eleftheriou mentioned, among other things, the possibility of appearing on the Eurovision stage again!

More specifically, after being asked whether the Eurovision chapter is over for her and whether she would return to the European Contest in the future, the young singer answered as follows:

“If you had asked me a few years ago, I would have said it was over. But now that the years have passed and I have a different perception and knowledge of the profession I would consider participating! It’s been 11 years since then! I remember some unique moments!”

While she completes by answering whether she regrets anything she has previously done in her career:

“I have regrets yes, but I’m not a person who feels pressed by time. Maybe growing up through the mistakes we learn so that we don’t repeat them. After all, that’s how life is. Without mistakes there is no evolution!”

Editorial: From Stefania, to Amanda and now to Silia!

What is it that connects the three young singers, both of whom were lucky enough at a very young age to represent Greece and Cyprus in the Eurovision contest? Apart from the fact that all three of them are proud children of the Greek and Cypriot diaspora, they were Eurovisionfun’s suggestions and won the relevant poll of our readers!

Stefania

It all started with Stefania in May 2019. A few days after the end of Eurovision, we wrote about a then unknown Stefania who we thought was an ideal choice to represent Greece in next year’s contest, which would be held in the Netherlands, her country of residence.

By a wide margin Stefania emerged as the winner of our poll, and a few months later, after submitting her proposal to ERT, she was chosen to represent the country at Eurovision 2020. The contest was cancelled due to COVID-19, but Stefania represented us in 2021, bringing Greece in the top 10 after eight years, managing to be in 10th place in both the televoting and the juries, something that Greece achieved for the first time!

Amanda

The success continued in 2022. Early on and again through our website we suggested Amanda as an artist who could deservedly succeed Stefania on the stage of the contest.

Although Amanda was an outsider, since everyone thought it was Good Job Nicky’s turn, the song she submitted to ERT was admittedly the one that rightly had to represent Greece in Turin.

Amanda’s special voice and her atmospheric song lifted the nation even higher at Eurovision 2022, bringing Greece to eighth place and listening to “Greece 12 points” six times in total!

Black 2023

Even though everything seemed ideal for 2023 and a third top 10 series in the making was very likely, some people in ERT’s headquarters had a contrary opinion, wanting to write on the back of their shoes the opinion of the public committee, the comments of the fans on social media, but also common sense, they decided to send a completely inexperienced artist, who had no TV or live experience, with a team that turned out to be completely unfit to carry out this project.

For the record, the winner of our proposal poll was Melissa Mantzoukis, who was also the winner of the ERT audience committee vote, by a huge margin …

Silia

From where Stefania and Amanda left off, Silia Kapsis is invited to continue the tradition, just for Cyprus this time. Silia was one of our suggestions this summer, winning the corresponding poll of our readers, with a percentage of over 35%!

We may have suggested her for the Greek representation, but in our article since then, we wrote that her father’s Cypriot origin could put her on the radar of RIK as well, which as you saw happened.

We hope that an additional common element that will connect Silia with Stefania and Amanda from next May, will be that she will have the same good fortune in terms of ranking, scoring a top 10 for Cyprus.

Watch our video below:

Will Silia continue the successful tradition? Tell us in the comments below!

Stay tuned to Eurovisionfun for all the latest news about the Cypriot participation.

Dimitris Kontopoulos sets a record at Eurovision!

With the announcement that Silia Kapsis will represent Cyprus with a song by Dimitris Kontopoulos, the successful Greek composer is making history in the Eurovision Song Contest. Cyprus is the eighth country to be represented by his composition. No other composer has this record of having participated in the contest with so many different countries!

Stefania is in the studio, working on a special project!

Stefania posted an enigmatic Instagram story earlier today with the caption, “This is something special”. Through the story she revealed that she is working in the studio alongside the Dutch lyricist Anna Rose Clayton and the Greek composer Dimitris Kontopoulos.

Is it about Eurovision?

Stefania’s name is reportedly among those who will take part in the internal selection process of the Dutch public television for Eurovision 2024, according to information published in the Dutch media this summer.

Given that the 30th of September is the deadline for submissions, it is possible that the song or songs Stefania is now recording in the Netherlands have something to do with her candidacy to represent the country in the 68th Eurovision Song Contest.

Stefania represented Greece in Eurovision 2021 and brought her country back to the top 10 after eight years, with Last Dance, a song signed by Dimitris Kontopoulos.

Along with Dimitris Kontopoulos, Ilias Kokotos, the project manager for all of the Dream Team entries in the competition, is also in the Netherlands this time.

It might simply be a new song

Of course, none of the aforementioned scenarios are guaranteed to occur, and it may just be Stefania working on a new song or undertaking something similar to her past work on the Dutch national football team’s anthem.

Furthermore, Stefania and Dimitris Kontopoulos have worked together on a few occasions even after Eurovision, so it is not surprising that they will release another song together, this time for the Dutch market, as they are currently in the Netherlands for the recording process with a local lyricist.

What this recording is intended for will eventually become clear, and Eurovisionfun certainly will have more information soon!

Greece: ERT has confirmed its participation in Eurovision 2024 | EXCLUSIVE

Since today, September 15, is the final day for countries to confirm their participation in Eurovision 2024, all supporters of the contest in Greece have been wondering if their nation has done so. Eurovisionfun can announce that Greece will participate in Malmö, marking 50 years of participation in the music competition!

Greece is the 32nd country to confirm for Eurovision 2024

Therefore, in accordance with information we obtained exclusively from ERT, the national broadcaster recently sent the necessary documentation to the EBU to confirm Greece’s participation in the 68th Eurovision Song Contest. There is currently no certainty about the selection procudure, but further information is anticipated to be disclosed in the near future.

Greece is the 32nd country to confirm its participation in Eurovision 2024. Therefore, the following nations have thus far indicated in some form that they will compete in Malmö on May 7, 9, and 11:

  • Greece
  • Albania
  • Australia
  • Austria
  • Azerbaijan
  • Belgium
  • Croatia
  • Cyprus
  • Denmark
  • Estonia
  • Finland
  • France
  • Germany
  • Iceland
  • Ireland
  • Israel
  • Latvia
  • Lithuania
  • Luxembourg
  • Malta
  • Moldova
  • The Netherlands
  • Norway
  • Portugal
  • San Marino
  • Serbia
  • Slovenia
  • Spain
  • Sweden
  • Switzerland
  • Ukraine
  • United Kingdom

Which countries are yet to confirm?

The Eurovision 2024 entry puzzle still has a few gaps to be filled in. The biggest question mark among the nations that competed in Liverpool but have not yet publicly announced their participation for next year is Romania, which is very likely to withdraw due to the serious financial difficulties the nation’s public broadcaster is currently experiencing.

While Bulgaria, Montenegro, and North Macedonia are anticipated to make a comeback to the competition after their absence this year, Czechia, Armenia, Poland, and Georgia are expected to take part in 2024.

A special case is that of Monaco, as it recently established a new television station and is a member of the EBU, has the ability to participate, and has not yet made clear its plans.

The ultimate number is expected to be relatively similar to this year’s total of 37 participants.

Greece: A National Televised Show for Eurovision 2024?

More and more articles claim that ERT’s administration is planning a national televised show through which the entry of Greece for the 2024 Eurovision Song Contest will emerge.

At Typologies section of ToParon newspaper it is mentioned not only the changes at CyBC’s plans for 2024 Eurovision and Fame Story, following the rules changes by EBU and its intervention, but also the possible plan of the organisation of a national televised final show through which the singer and the song that will represent Greece for Eurovision in Malmö will be selected.

Through this way ERT’s administration hopes to overcome this year’s disappointment including everything around the Eurovision project and not only the final outcome at Liverpool.

The possibility of a national final show is a scenario that has recently been circulating among the press and its realisation is highly depended on intentions of the new manager director of ERT that everyone expects.

EXCLUSIVE: Teleconference between ERT, RIK and EBU for the conflict solution!

The updates are rapid on the issue regarding the conflict between ERT and RIK because of the hosting of the Fame Story reality show by the latter, in collaboration with PANIK Records, STAR Channel and Barking Well Media. The gap remains open and for this reason, according to our exclusive information, a teleconference is about to be held by the EBU the coming days, in order the situation to be discussed by the two sides and a solution to be found.

The story

The conflict between the two public broadcasters emerged after RIK decided to collaborate with Barking Well Media company of Nikos Koklonis, the Star Channel (private broadcaster) and the PANIK RECORDS for the organisation of the reality show named Fame Story, which will be broadcast simultaneously in Greece by Star Channel and in Cyprus by RIK.

The relevant trailer of the aforementioned show, in which despite that Eurovision is not mentioned as the award but Europe’s biggest music contest, was the last straw for ERT, which considers that their exclusive rights on the competition in Greece are violated.

The EBU after the request of the current ERT’s administration by Mr Constantinos Zoulias proceed with an update of the regulations regarding the 2024 Eurovision Song Contest which were sent to all members.

Fame Story’s complicity?

The new regulations enacted by the EBU, after ERT’s intervention, impede the realization of the talent show, at least as far as the representation of Cyprus at the 68th Eurovision Song Contest as the award, just as it is implied by the relevant trailer still broadcast by the Star Channel.

EBU’s intervention

After the publication of the relevant trailer, the EBU, in a letter, asked RIK to clarify the details regarding Fame Story and whether the realization of this show in Greece, by a private television station, violates the above mentioned regulations of the upcoming music competition .

Of course, this intervention was not accidental at all, just like the revision of the competition regulations, but it came after the protests of ERT, whose exclusivity in the television and commercial exploitation of Eurovision in Greece is being violated, an exclusivity for which it spends approximately 360,000 Euro per year.

RIK “announces” national selection in Nicosia

As you first read from Eurovision Fun (here), RIK sent a reply letter to the EBU in which it claims that Fame Story is not a national final, but a talent show, which it will integrate into its entertainment program.

It is also reported that for Eurovision 2024 RIK will choose its representative through internal selection, as it has been doing in recent years. The artist selection will be done through new talent that will emerge from both Fame Story and other young and talented artists.

Finally, it is emphasized in this letter, that the final selection of the song will take place in January 2024 through a televised show, which will take place in Nicosia. All of this, of course, as you understand, contradicts what Nikos Koklonis revealed on air, in his various interviews, and is also included in the Fame Story promo trailer.

In this way, the RIK considers that it can overcome the legal issue that has arisen after the update of the Eurovision 2024 regulations, and now they are awaiting the EBU’s response.

Teleconference for a solution

All the same there is still hope for a possible solution. Representatives of ERT and RIK will meet in a teleconference organized by the EBU in order to discuss the essence of the dispute and to seek some point of contact.

The above means that at least by the time of writing of this very article, both sides are sticking to their positions. The possible representation of Cyprus by the winner or an artist from Fame Story and the refusal of ERT to accept the television and commercial exploitation of the competition by a private television station in Greece.

The aforementioned teleconference is expected within the next days.

Stay tuned on the Eurovision Fun for all the updates around the conflict between ERT and RIK!
