Greece: Amanda Georgiadis Tenfjord will represent the country at Eurovision 2022!

Through Studio 4 on ERT1, the long-awaited revelation of the name of the artist who will raise the Greek flag in May in Turin took place a while ago. The announcement was made by Greece’s representative at Eurovision 2021, Stefania, live from the Netherlands.

The 24-year-old Greek-Norwegian Amanda Georgiadis, or Amanda Tenfjord as she is artistically known, whom we first presented to you as our possible representative on June 7, 2021, was announced officialy as the Greek represantative in the 66th Eurovision Song Contest which is going to be held in Turin, Italy. On the stage of Pala Alpitour she will perform a ballad written by her in lyrics and music, under the direction of Fokas Evangelinos, while the project manager of the project will be Ilias Kokotos.

ERT’s artistic committee evaluated the proposals of 25 artists and singled out the top five artists, who had private meetings at the ERT’s headquarters with the committee and the management of Hellenic Broadcasting Corporation. After these meetings, where the candidates presented more details (stage appearance, song promotion, video clip designs, etc.), the competent committee considered Amanda’s proposal to be more complete, taking into account first the song, but also the above important factors.

The committee consisted of the following:

  • Dimitris Papadimitriou, composer – President
  • Maria Kozakou, Director of the Second Program of the NRA, commentator of the Eurovision Song Contest
  • Fotis Apergis, director of ERT radio
  • Peter Adam, music producer
  • Giannis Petridis, music producer
  • Konstantinos Bourounis, head of ERT’s youth program
  • Leonidas Antonopoulos, Journalist & music producer

Amanda’s Proposal

Her proposal includes a song, which as you read in our previous articles, is an inner ballad, written by her, that leads the listener to an explosion of emotions. The song was written after her separation, with a long-term relationship.

It was a painful separation and my feelings were extreme. When I was writing it, of course, I did not have in mind the Eurovision Song Contest, but when the idea came to me to take part in the Greek selection, everyone who listened to this song told me that this would be an ideal participation for both my country and me.

Amanda

The producer and orchestrator of the song is Bjørn Helge Gammelsæter, a Norwegian musician with several important collaborations to his credit.

The feeling caused by Amanda’s melody and interpretation is so intense that I wanted the approach to production to be as abstract as possible. I used a vocoder, something that makes the song very special without losing its sensitivity. The orchestration of the song has been built around Amanda’s voice so that her unique tone is not lost.

Bjørn Helge Gammelsæter

Fokas Evangelinos, who strongly believes in her participation, will take over her stage appearance in Turin, if of course she is selected.

From the first moment I saw Amanda and heard her song, I felt that she has this unique and special thing that the Eurovision contest demands. Amanda herself has a special beauty and a charm that attracts you from the first moment you see her, while her song creates strong emotions that can lead to a very special scene. presence that will make her stand out.

Fokas Evangelinos

The director of the video clip of the song will be Kostas Karydas, the same director who took over Stefania. The successful director gives us a small hint, for the result we will see, in case Amanda is the final choice of ERT.

I find the song excellent and Amanda a girl with very special beauty. The track has a strong introversion and I think that cinematically I have to move in the opposite direction to have a very interesting result. Because I recognize that in the Eurovision Song Contest the ethnic elements in the music of the songs are obsolete, we will try to include the Greek element in the video clip, as we did last year with Stefania.

Kostas Karydas

Project Manager of the whole effort will be Ilias Kokotos, through whom Amanda was approached by ERT. We remind you that Ilias Kokotos, project manager of all Dream Team participations in the competition, was the one who proposed Stefania to ERT in the fall of 2019.

Who Is Who

Amanda Georgiadis, 24, was born in Oslo but lived the first years of her life in Ioannina, where she visits every summer as her family maintains a home in the area.

At the age of 3, her parents decide to move to the small town of Tenfjord in Norway. At the age of 5 she started taking piano lessons and became an amateur musician, writing her first songs as a teenager. At the age of 18 she began her studies in medicine, while at the same time taking part in various festivals.

She released her first EP, “First impression” under the stage name Amanda Tenfjord, from the city from which she grew up and received excellent reviews. Her second EP includes the song “Then I fell in love” which is a great radio success, remaining for over 20 weeks in the official top 10 radio chart of Norway. In 2020 Netflix includes the song “Troubled Water” in the series “Spinning out”.

Just an hour ago ERT has published the five names that stood out of the first process for Eurovision 2022 and Lou Is is among them.

Lou Is has been collaborated with many big names in Greece like Giannis Kotsiras, Dimitra Galani, Eleni Vitali, Foivos Delivorias and many others. In 2021 she has decided to make a statements with her sound. Her song “In the Rain” is the first track she has published with her company The Hubsters: songs full of melodies, nice backing vocals, strong chorus and clear instrunment.

Lou Is talked exclusively in our team for her proposal for Eurovision and more gave us more details of her song:

“During the first lockdown, I wrote a song and after many experiments it turned out as a dance, dynamic and very optimistic, even though this wasn’t the subject of the song. Many collaborators of mine have spontaneously told me that this one is ready for Eurovision and that’s how we decided to send it to ERT.

The lyrics and the music are written by me. The production is pop-disco with some instrumental details and the lyrics are narrating a story.

It was a suprise for me to write something so different and outgoing compared to what I used to write”

Lou Is

Could this disco-pop entry be the one that ERT will choose for Greece in May? Stay tuned for all the latest details in Eurovisionfun!

We are one step closer to the artist, who will represent Greece in the 66th Eurovision Song Contest. The ERT has published the names of the five artists, who still continue to claim the Greek representation in Turin. It was also announced, as Eurovisionfun has reported months ago, that the Greek representative in Turin will be chosen internally, by the expert committee.

25 artists submitted about 40 songs to ERT, of which the competent committee under Dimitris Papadimitriou selected the five best, performed by an equal number of artists.

So the five lucky ones who still hope to represent Greece in the upcoming Eurovision Song Contest are:

Amanda Tenfjord (Amanda Georgiadis)

The expatriate artist from Norway, with an experienced and strong team, enters the internal selection with a classy, inner ballad. – more HERE.

Good Job Nicky (Nikolas Varthakouris)

Nikolas Varthakouris participates in the internal selection with a cinematic song. He also has a strong team behind him, with Fokas Evangelinos standing out. – more HERE.

Elias Kozas

Three songs have been submitted by the Greek representative at Eurovision 2013. Completely different from Alcohol Is Free and in an insurgent rhythm, as he told us. One song of them is in the final list – more HERE.

Lou is

Lou is is an expericed artist. Her true name is Louisa Sofianopoulou. She has worked with all the big Greek artists like Giannis Kotsiras, Eleni Vitali, Dimitra Galani and more. Her record label is called The Hubsters.

The final selection will be made after the committee of ERT first has private meetings with the artists and the groups that frame their proposals. In these meetings each artist will give more information about his/her song, the plans of the stage appearance, the promotion intends to do, etc. The final selection by the ERT’s jury will take into account all the above.

Surprisingly, in the final five, there aren’t names that for many were considered as favorites, proving that the only criterion of ERT is the proposals of the artists and their prospects in the difficult track of Eurovision.

EBU uploaded again the “How To Eurovision – Greece” video, after ERT’s protest!

The video “How To Eurovision – Greece” is back on YouTube, having removed the points for which ERT sent an official protest to the EBU.

First through Eurovisionfun you read about the strange video, which both we and many other fans characterized, the EBU posted on YouTube and the rest of the social media and supposedly honored the Greek presence in the contest.

Specifically, in the original video, apart from a brief review of Greece in Eurovision Song Contest, there was an extensive tribute to the 12 points of Cyprus to Greece, while it was mentioned that in 1998 the Greek entry saved from the last place and the 0 points, thanks to the 12 points of Cyprus. As if that were not enough, the video even included the mocking of the Greek participation that year by the audience.

Of course, in similar videos from other countries, we did not see anything like that, because of course it is not only Greece and Cyprus that, for well-known reasons, exchange high scores every year. Denmark does the same with Iceland, but so do the other Nordic countries, as do Poland and Ukraine, Estonia and Latvia, Belarus and Russia, as well as the countries of the former Yugoslavia.

After the dynamic intervention of ERT, which made it understandable to those involved that the issue would go to extremes as it was a matter of dignity, the problematic points were removed from social media, and then the video was completely downloaded from YouTube.

As of yesterday afternoon, the video is again on YouTube, without the audience’s mocking, with a clearly shorter and more diplomatic reference to the 12 points of Cyprus, while the saxophonist’s “out of tune” solo in Anixi of Sofia Vossou no longer exists.

Sietse Bakker: ”In 2005 I was in the Greek National Selection jury and I didnt vote for My Number One”!

Sietse Bakker the producer of Eurovision 2021 and member of the Reference Group of the competition, made an exciting revelation.

The occasion was a video on Tik-Tok by the most famous Eurofan and Youtuber of America, Alesia Michelle, in which she humorously criticizes the members of the juries in Eurovision, for the fact that they do not vote the winning songs every year, in high place.

Seeing Alesia’s post on Instagram, Sieste Bakker wanted to take a stand, revealing something that no one knew until now and concerns the Greek participation in Eurovision 2005, saying:

I was in the Greek National Selection jury in 2005 and had the chance to pick ‘My Number One’. I didn’t, ranked it second and ranked ‘OK’ on top as it stuck with me since the dress rehearsal, the day before. Epic fail! Thankfully the other judges had a better vision. I never dared to predict a Eurovision winner again ever since.

In 2005, ERT internally selected Elena Paparizou to represent our country in Kiev. The song was chosen through a national final in which the greek audience and a jury decide between three songs, the greek entrance for Eurovision 2005. These were the songs My Number OneOK και Let’s Get Wild, with the first won not only the the National Final but the one and only victory of Greece in Eurovision.

You? What was your favorite song from our national final in 2005? Stay tuned to Eurovisionfun for all the developments regarding the Greek participation in Eurovision 2022!
