United Kingdom: BBC promises a spectacular staging for Sam Ryder!

Through its official Twitter account for Eurovision, BBC teased us about an impressive staging for Sam Ryder in Pala Olimpico.

After many years, the United Kingdom comes to the 66th Eurovision Song Contest for a very pleasant result. “Space Man” by Sam Ryder is currently in fourth place of the betting odds, while media from all over Europe, face the British song with great interest.

As BBC informed us a while ago, all that Sam Ryder needs for his live performance are now on a truck en route for, of course, Turin!

United Kingdom’s staging will be directed by Marvin Dietman. BBC trusted Tap Music for this year’s representation in Eurovision Song Contest. This change seems to bear fruit, as a more competitive and professional approach has been chosen, in comparison to previous years.

Eurovision 2022: Ukraine at the top of the betting tables!

The favorite column of many of you is back, as the betting analyzes for the 66th Eurovision Song Contest are here again.

With the puzzle of the 40 songs that will participate in Eurovision 2022 being completed, we will take a look at the odds of the betting companies regarding the chances of victories of each country in this year’s competition.

In any case, these returns reflect trends and are based on what we know so far in relation to the participation of each country.

Top 5

The situation at the top of the betting tables remains unchanged, with Ukraine still in first place. Having capitalized on the anti-war climate after the Russian invasion, the war-torn country of Eastern Europe is now considered the first favorite to win the 66th Eurovision Song Contest. The victory of the Kalush Orchestra ranges between 2 and 2.7.

Second is Italy, which has remained stable in the top two for two months. The host country is in a very advantageous position, in order for Mahmood & Blanco to do the back-to-back for the Italians. The Italian victory is offered in slightly higher odds than the corresponding Ukrainian, between 3.75 and 4.70.

Bookers consider the derby between three to be the victory in Eurovision 2022, with Sweden rising steadily in recent weeks. Cornelia Jakobs‘ dominance at the Melodifestivalen changed the correlations, with the Swedish participation being considered the third most prevalent for a victory in Turin. Sweden win is played at odds between 4.5 and 6.

Fourth is the United Kingdom, whose odds of winning have been falling steadily since Sam Ryder appeared at promo parties. “Spaceman”, a song considered by the Executive Producer of ESC 2021 to have all the backgrounds to impress on the PalaOlimpico stage, is now in fourth place on the betting table, with winning odds ranging from 11 to 16 .

The top five, in a Poland-Greece derby, is completed by Poland. The Central European country is one of the few countries that has remained firmly in the top ten over the last two months, with Krystian Ochman being one of the artists who won the impressions at the parties. The Polish victory is played between 17 and 29.

Top 10

The Greek participation has been sixth for a few hours now. Amanda Tenfjord and “Die Together” still maintain the positive momentum, which kept them in the top five for almost two months, being marginally one place behind Poland in the preference of bookers. It is, in fact, typical that the victory of Greece is played in some companies at lower prices (15) than the corresponding one in Poland, nevertheless the highest odd (34) brings Greece below Poland.

Seventh one meets Spain. The level of songs of this year’s competition and the explosive appearances of Chanel in the promo of the Spanish delegation, have brought the Iberians to seventh place, being one of the few countries that have risen in the betting tables in recent days.

Norway is eighth with upward trends, with the Subwoolfer gaining impressions with their presence at parties and bringing the Scandinavians two places higher compared to our latest analysis.

Ninth is the Netherlands, which has risen by 10 places after the release of this year’s participation. The emotional ballad “De Diepte” and S10 have won the impressions, remaining consistently in the top ten.

The top ten is completed by Australia, which remains firmly in the 9-12 positions throughout the last month.

Conclusions

A lot can change in the next month. The odds, of course, will go through various ups and downs. However, having all the songs available, we can draw some conclusions. Information about the stage presence and of course the appearances at the PalaOlimpico in Turin can be brought up and down in the tables of the betting companies. Nothing will have been judged until the night of May 14th and the Grand Final of Eurovision 2022!

Twan van de Nieuwenhuizen: “Keep an eye on the UK!”

A few hours ago Twan van de Nieuwenhuizen, the head of this year’s competition, was interviewed on Dutch radio, directing the countries with ideas for their performances and having the most important say in the creation of the countries’ running order.

Among other things, he said:

“The main goal of the running order is to be put together in such a way that it keeps the audience’s interest throughout the shows. Latvia appears after Albania, as its performance features fresh sounds, unlike Albania’s darker appearance. Finland has an ambitious stage presence, and keep an eye on the UK!”

He goes on to say that by the song submission deadline, each delegation had to provide a file that included the intended image and sense of each entry. He points out that this document is becoming increasingly detailed! In fact, last year’s document from Italy consisted of 88 pages on the Maneskin performance!

Finally, he states that the use of water in the performances will no longer be allowed (since last year), for safety reasons.

Recall that Twan van de Nieuwenhuizen, producer of last year’s Eurovision, had mentioned that Greece was the country that would try something for the first time on stage, which was also confirmed by Telegraaf!

It therefore remains to be seen whether the UK will live up to the high expectations in Turin this May!
