Azerbaijan: Listen to AISEL’s entry for Eurovision 2024!

Azerbaijan and Ictimai Television opted for an internal selection for Eurovision 2024. One of the selection’s participants, for which few information is known, was AISEL. AISEL claimed Azerbaijan’s representation for the second time, after having previously participated in 2018 with “X My Heart“, being the first Azerbaijani entry failing to qualify to the Grand Final.

Apparently and as Fahree and Ilkin Dövlətov were ITV’s chosen ones for Eurovision 2024, AISEL just released her Eurovision 2024 submission, titled “Game of Chess“.

Following the voting of a jury committee, the following six artists were shortlisted and hence claimed the Azerbaijani representation in Malmö:

  • Emiliya Yaqubova
  • Ilkin Dovlatov, Mila Miles and Etibar Asadli
  • Aisel (Azerbaijan 2018)
  • Fahree I.
  • Qorqud (Elvin Novruzov)
  • Sabina Guluzadeh

Among the jury members of the selection there are Aysel Teymurzadə (Azerbaijan 2009) as well as Eldar Gasımov & Nigar Jamal (Azerbaijan 2011-winners).

Azerbaijan with Fahree and Ilkin Dövlətov and their song “Özünlə Apar” will perform twelfth in the first semi-final on May 7.

Azerbaijan: Two acts remain on the running to represent the country at Eurovision 2024!

According to Infe Azerbaijan, the six shortlisted acts have been whittled down to just two after the live performances had been assessed by a team of music professionals. The two acts still left in contention are:

  • Aisel – “Game of Chess”
  • İlkin Dövlətov & Mila Miles & Etibar Əsədli – “İnsanlar” (People)

Aisel, who represented the nation in the Eurovision Song Contest 2018 in Lisbon, is a well known artist in the Eurovision community. She sang “X My Heart” at the contest, but came 11th in her semi-final, meaning she became the first Azerbaijani entrant not to qualify for the Grand Final at the contest.

Ictimai Television has not revealed to the public any details regarding the selection process. For any update, we expect an announcement via its social media accounts. We remind you that Azerbaijan is allocated to perform in the second half of the first semi-final on May 7.

Azerbaijan wants to overturn the tables after its second non qualification this year, in Liverpool. TuralTuranX with their song “Tell Me More”, managed to finish only second to last in their Semi-Final.

Azerbaijan: Aisel claims to represent the country in Malmö!

In our previous article, we mentioned that Azerbaijan will choose its participation for the 68th Eurovision Song Contest with an internal selection, through the “Live Auditions” process.

As is known, the submission process turned out to be successful enough, as İTV announced that 214 entries were submitted in total with 16 artists qualifying for the final stage. According to the national broadcaster, the process is still in full swing, with the Live Auditions underway.

Among the final contestants, there is a old acquaintance of the contest which is Aisel, who represnted the country at Eurovision 2018 in Lisbon, with the song “X My Heart“.

Aisel who had failed to qualify for the Grand Final, finishing 11th at the First Semi-Final, stated that she was not satisfied with her participation back in 2018, returns to pay off the score.

The sixteen artists from the “Live Auditions“ are:

  • Tofiq Hacıyev & Camal Qurbanov
  • Aisel
  • Rilaya
  • Mari
  • İlkin Dövlətov & Mila Miles & Etibar Əsədli
  • Sabina Beyli
  • Lexa
  • Edgar Ravinov
  • Əmrah Musayev
  • Alesker
  • Rahib Mirzəyev & Tofiq Yadigar
  • Səbinə Quluzadə
  • Qorqud
  • Fahree

Finally, among the jury members are Aysel Teymurzadə (Azerbaijan 2009) and Eldar Qasımov & Nigar Camal (Azerbaijan 2011).

Although, it has not been made completely clear the closed selection process that is being condected, it appears from the reel that the national broadcaster post in its social media. İTV aims to test the vocal and the performance skills of every candidate. The candidate who has the best song and can deliver both conditions, will be the one to represent the country to Malmö.

This year, Azerbaijan failed to qualify for the Grand Final for the second time in its short history in Eurovision Song Contest. The sibling duo TuralTuranX with their song “Tell Me More” managed to finish second to last in their Semi-Final.
