“Teresa & Maria” is officially Ukraine’s Eurovision 2024 entry!

Ukraine‘s entry for the forthcoming Eurovision Song Contest was selected through Vidbir 2024, which was held last Saturday. However, because of technical difficulties with the voting process, the results were not made public until one day later. Alyona Alyona and Jerry Heil were the winners and therefore representatives of Ukraine, with the song “Teresa & Maria”.

The representation of Ukraine by “Teresa & Maria” became official today, following the signing of the necessary documents by the artists and the country’s public broadcaster,

Disagreements between the winners of Vidbir and the Ukrainian public television in 2019 and 2022 resulted in these documents not being signed, which in turn caused the country’s representative to be replaced. More precisely, despite placing second in the national final, Kalush Orchestra took Alina Pash‘s position in 2022. Accordingly, Maruv‘s refusal to sign the respective contracts, due to their restrictive terms, led to Ukraine’s withdrawal from Eurovision 2019.

United Kingdom: Listen to the teaser of Dizzy!

Earlier today, Olly Alexander revealed the title of his song to be Dizzy. Now, a teaser of the song has been made available on twitter.

The song will be released on March 1st. The United Kingdom has really set the bar high for Eurovision 2024. Even at this early stage, we are all excited by the choice of Olly Alexander, an artist who has topped the UK charts and is well-known in Europe.

The team behind “Dizzy”

Olly Alexander has a powerful ally on his side for his Eurovision bid. Danny L. Harle, Dua Lipa’s producer, has put together Olly Alexander’s bid. Danny is the brains behind Dua’s latest smash hit “Houdini” and will probably serve as the executive producer on her upcoming third studio album.

Who is Olly Alexander?

The 33 year-old Olly Alexander is a singer and actor from England. He is best known for his work as the lead singer of Years & Years, one of the UK’s most successful groups and as Ritchie Tozer in the Channel 4 drama series “It’s a Sin”. Alexander has been multi-nominee in the Brit Awards as well as several other awards within the United Kingdom.

United Kingdom, the host of Eurovision 2023, was represented on home soil by Mae Muller and her song “I Wrote A Song“. Despite being a fan favorite, Mae did not come up to British expectations and finished second-last with 24 points.

Ukraine: SKYLERR’s withdrawal violates Vidbir 2024 rules!

Vidbir 2024, the national final through which Ukraine‘s entry for the upcoming Eurovision Song Contest will be selected, took place last night. However, the results, which are scheduled to be revealed today at 17:00 CET, were not able to be announced  due to a technical issue that occurred during the voting process.

SKYLERR decided to pull out of the competition as a result of these technical problems. However, the country’s broadcaster claims that this is against the rules of the contest. As such, the singer’s request to withdraw was denied!

In case this entry wins, the performer retains the right to refuse to participate in Eurovision. However, this is not foreseen before the results are announced.

SKYLERR issued the following statement in light of her withdrawal, voicing her doubts regarding the validity of the results:

This decision was hard for me, but my creativity, for music, for the stage, for work, for singing, for my people, for you, for all of us, remains. Everything that’s going on right now has nothing to do with any of this and nothing to do with me. Unfortunately, the vote cannot be returned at this time and I trust the moment. The app didn’t work last night or this morning, but as far as I know, it’s working again. The votes can be counted wrong. I understand that this is a big system, it is a failure and everyone has the same conditions, but I am still in favour of a transparent and clear vote, which is not happening at the moment. I’m not interested in participating in these public relations contests that have developed because of this situation, “There are no winners in this marathon” my song lyrics are more relevant today than ever. I stay true to myself, my messages, and my song. Please, if you didn’t get a chance to listen to the song, do it now! In all circumstances, remain human, because time is running out! Don’t lose yourself and don’t lose each other.

Eurovision 2024: National finals songs on the Spotify charts!

There are three semi-finals and four national finals happening tonight, making it the first Super Saturday of 2024. Let’s see whether any of the songs from these finalists made it onto the charts by looking at the Spotify charts of a few countries.

Ukraine

Teresa & Maria, a duet by Alyona Alyona and Jerry Heil, is currently topping the Ukrainian Spotify list and is the betting favourite to win Vidbir 2024. This is a first for Ukraine and likely portends the song’s victory in the national final. YAKTAK and LaLaLa are positioned below, at position 33.

Norway

In Norway, however, things are rather different. According to local Spotify statistics, the odd’s favourite song, “Ulveham”, only peaked at 118th place. Other entries, such KEIINO at number 46 and Erika Norwich’s “My AI” at number 31, were ranked higher. This year’s climate differs from prior years when MGP favourites ranked in the top ten of the chart.

Spain

The Benidorm Fest 2024 final is happening tonight. St Pedro, the frontrunner according to the bookies, is no longer in the charts, whereas Nebulossa with Zorra is in 93rd place. Marlena, who did not qualify for the grand final, is ranked 182nd.

Lithuania

Lithuania’s Eurovision 2020 and 2021 representatives, the Roop, are ranked 31st. Shower, with “Impossible” from the third semi-final, is at number 29, while Silvester Belt, the winner of the first semi-final, is still at the top of the list with “Luktelk.”

Let’s take a look at the charts of a few more countries:

France

Impressively, for French standards, Slimane’s “Mon Amour” is currently at 79th place on the French Spotify list, where it has been charting for 54 days in a row.

Estonia

For a record-breaking 57 days in a row, 5MIINUST and Puuluup remain at the top of the charts. As of yet, no other song has attained the same level of success, suggesting that their song (nendest) narkootikumidest ei tea me (kull) midagi is the clear favourite to win. Vox Populi, a contender for the Finnish national final, comes in second. OLLIE is positioned 78th. Wunderbar is in 34th place, and Oblivion, which did not make it to the final, is in 197th.

Luxembourg

After making its debut at number one, Tali’s Fighter is currently at number 33 on the chart.

Finland

Every song participating in the competition is listed on the chart, with the odds-on favourite, Paskana by Sara Siipola, coming in at number nine. Mania is in 25th place, and Vox Populi is in 19th place. Number 81 is Sini Sabotage, number 90 is Cyan Kicks, position 113 is No Rules!, and position 135 is Glow.

This year, there is a lot of interest in Eurovision, with many countries attempting to choose songs that would resonate with their national audiences!

Georgia: Over 300 songs were submitted for Nutsa Buzaladze’s Eurovision entry!

Natia Mshvenieradze, the head of the Georgian delegation, discussed the country’s participation in the Eurovision Song Contest this year in an interview broadcast on Georgian national television.

More precisely, she stated that over 300 songs were submitted for Nutsa Buzaladze‘s Eurovision entry, the most of which are signed by international songwriters. Although the process of assessing the nominated songs has commenced, an obvious favourite is not yet apparent. Nutsa herself will evaluate the submissions and she will ultimately decide which song she will perform in Malmö.

The information above confirms the exclusive information we revealed a few days ago, which stated that several well-known composers—mostly from abroad—submitted their proposals to Georgian public television.

More specifically, many prominent musicians, including some that have previously participated in Eurovision or national finals, mainly in Northern Europe, have sent in proposals. Their submissions contain a variety of intriguing songs, including dance tracks. Furthermore, Nutsa Buzaladze has disclosed her preference openly, saying that she wants to make people dance.

Since Georgia hasn’t been to the grand final of Eurovision since 2016, the public’s hopes have increased upon learning that Nutsa Buzaladze will represent the country in 2024. Furthermore, in the past 24 hours, the country has moved up 25 spots in the betting odds, currently holding the 10th spot

Who is Nutsa Buzaladze?

The international songstress from Tbilisi has participated in (and won) many different song contests over her career, including a top 12 finish at American Idol in 2023 where she performed a duet with Kylie Minogue on her classic track “Can’t Get You Out Of My Head”.

In recent years, Nutsa has lived in both Los Angeles (where she wrote, performed and shot music videos) and Dubai (where she signed a contract with Theater Dubai and performed at Expo) but calls Georgia home.

In 2019 she released her debut album under the name Nutsa22, covering not only Georgian songs but also compositions in English, but it was Gelodebi that became her breakout hit leading her to tour the country with a live band.

France: President Macron on Slimane’s Eurovision participation!

During an official visit to Sweden, French President Emmanuel Macron discussed his country’s record in the Eurovision Song Contest as well as Slimane‘s participation this year.

More specifically, he stated:

I have to confess that France has not always been very successful, at least as Sweden, because the last time we won Eurovision was in 1977. But we hope for the best this year with Slimane

Below, you may listen to “Mon Amour”, the song with which Slimane will represent France in Malmö:

About the artist

Slimane Nebchi is 34 years old and is of algerian origin. He won The Voice of France in 2016 and ever since his career has exploded. His four studio albums have all reached the first place in the french charts and he has also charted in other countries’ charts. He was a coach in the Voice of Belgium. He has also participated in musicals and some films as an actor, while he is also a philanthropist.

The artist is probably the biggest name to represent France in the Eurovision Song Contest for many years. As the head of french delegation, Alexandra Redde-Amiel said, France is heading for the trophy.

Georgia: Renowned songwriters submitted their songs for Nutsa Buzaladze! | EXCLUSIVE

The world-famous Nutsa Buzaladze will represent Georgia in the 2024 Eurovision Song Contest, which will take place in Malmö in May, as revealed a few days ago by the country’s public broadcaster, GPB.

The GPB launched a submission platform a few hours after Nutsa Buzaladze was announced as Georgia’s representative at Eurovision 2024. Through this platform, interested musicians can submit their proposals, and the most suitable one will ultimately be chosen to represent the country at the contest.

The deadline for submissions is tomorrow. However, additional information on the selection procedure for the song that Nutsa Buzaladze will perform in Malmö in May of next year has not yet been revealed. The most likely scenario is that the top submissions will participate in a focus group where the song will ultimately be chosen.

According to our exclusive information, some well-known composers have already shown interest. Many prominent musicians, including some that have previously participated in Eurovision or national finals, mainly in Northern Europe, have sent in proposals. Their submissions contain a variety of intriguing songs, including dance tracks. Furthermore, Nutsa Buzaladze has disclosed her preference openly, saying that she wants to make people dance.
