Luxembourg: Details revealed about the past collaboration with San Marino for Eurovision!

New details have emerged about a potential partnership from nearly a decade ago that would bring Luxembourg to Eurovision 2015.

Ahead of Eurovision 2015, there were reports that Luxembourg and San Marino were to team up for an entry for the Eurovision Song Contest. Thierry Mersch gave an interview to Luxembourger Wort explaining more about how he almost represented San Marino and Luxembourg on the Eurovision stage:

“A member of the ESC delegation from San Marino TV contacted me and at first I wasn’t sure whether he was serious at all. The idea was for two European microstates to come together for a unique project.”

Then there was a discussion about cooperation, which was sparked by the then Minister of Culture stating her agreement to regarding the return of Luxembourg. New details revealed:

“The song was already decided, I already had a duet partner. Since the organizers did not want to support this unique project alone, Luxembourg was supposed to contribute 50,000 euros – and that ultimately failed.”

It is not known who the duet partner would be, nor the song that was to be performed. San Marino participated in Eurovision 2015 represented by two previous participants of the state in Junior Eurovision. Anita Simoncini and Michele Perniola and the song  “Chain of Lights”.

Luxembourg returns to the Eurovision Song Contest this year in Malmö after a hiatus of 31 years represented by Tali Golergant and the song “Fighter”

Belgium: Changes are planned for the outfit part!

Further changes are planned for Mustii’s outfit after his first appearance on the Eurovision stage.

Belgium’s Mustii held his first rehearsal for Eurovision 2024, with the singer and the delegation now thinking about his performance of ‘Before The Party’s Over’. At his first rehearsal, Mustii wore a sheer top with Swarovski crystals, a light white shirt and matching pants. However, this outfit will not be the final one on the Eurovision stage.

RTBF states:

“This outfit, although splendid, is not final and will be refined for the Eurovision semi-final. A judicious choice by stylist Elke Oost who not only chose to promote Mustii but also wanted her creation to play a key role in the staging.”

The second rehearsal of Belgum is scheduled to take place on Friday 3/5 so we will have a better picture of ​​what we will see from Mustii on the competition stage.

Eurovision 2024: More interval acts were announced!

Today, Swedish broadcaster SVT named two of the interval acts that viewers can look forward to enjoying during the two Semi-Finals of the Eurovision Song Contest 2024. And it’s an all-star line up of past Eurovision performers that will be returning to the stage.

In the First Semi-Final, Benjamin Ingrosso will give us a show-stopping medley featuring just some of the songs he’s recently performed across Europe as part of his Better Days Tour.

In the Second Semi-Final, the audience will have the opportunity to participate in the world’s biggest sing along, together with three iconic Eurovision queens – Helena Paparizou, Sertab Erener and Charlotte Perrelli.

Benjamin Ingrosso

Back in 2018, Benjamin Ingrosso got the honour of representing Sweden at the Eurovision Song Contest with Dance You Off. The song gave Sweden an impressive Top 10 finish in the Grand Final.

Since then, the artist has gone on to achieve three number 1 albums in his home country, and has also won multiple Grammy Awards, including one for Artist of the Year in 2022. In 2024, Benjamin scored his first number 1 on the Swedish singles chart with his song Kite. And also this year, Benjamin has recently wrapped his very first European tour, the Better Days Tour.

Benjamin Ingrosso will head to Malmö to give the audience and viewers a spectacular interval act in the First Semi-Final of the Eurovision Song Contest 2024. He is going to treat us to an extra-special medley that is guaranteed to set Malmö Arena in musical motion!

On his forthcoming appearance at the First Semi-Final, Benjamin Ingrosso says:

“After I got to represent Sweden at Eurovision in 2018, it now feels great to be able to show the audience who I am today. It has been fantastic to meet all the fans on my tour in Europe during the spring and now I hope that the Eurovision audience will love this show as much as I do”

Malmö Arena will be rocked, Benjamin-style, when a total of 21 people take to the stage in a super medley. Together with the band, the dancers, the lights, the image production and specially constructed videos in the background, Benjamin has planned a television number of the highest international class.

The Eurovision Song Contest is set to stage the world’s biggest sing along – with some of the world’s most beloved Eurovision queens!

For the first time ever in the Eurovision Song Contest, at the Second Semi-Final the audience in the arena and at home will be invited to take part in a sing-along. Anyone who wants to can therefore be part of the Semi-Final interval performance remotely, via an interactive TV wall. To participate, you can check the Eurovision Song Contest’s official social channels, where all the instructions will be given closer to the time.

During the sing-along, audiences will be invited to sing classic songs from the Eurovision Song Contest’s history, together with three of its most popular past winners.

We’ll have Swedish born Greek Helena Paparizou, who won for Greence in 2005 with My Number One; Turkish superstar Sertab Erener, who gave Türkiye its first victory in 2003 with Everyway That I Can; and Sweden’s very own Charlotte Perrelli, who is celebrating the 25th anniversary of her win in 1999 with Take Me To Your Heaven.

Helena Paparizou is enthusiastic about her return to the Eurovision Song Contest, almost 20 years after her win:

“I am more than happy to be back on the Eurovision stage after so many years. Malmö…here I come! Are you ready to sing along with me?”

Eurovision 2024: Dozens of possible threats to the competition, according to the police authorities

Classified report cites threats from cyber attacks to anti-Israel protests Ground and aerial means, mainly drones, will guard security during the Eurovision Song Contest, which will be held at the Malmö Arena sports and entertainment center in the Swedish city of Malmö.

The Swedish police have drawn up a 23-page special report on possible threats during Eurovision, most of which is classified.

The report highlights the wide-ranging nature of the threats, which include possible cyber-attacks, disruption of television broadcasting by hackers, acts of civil disobedience, while Sweden is considered a “priority target” for Islamist terrorist groups.

Police also note the possibility of protests against Israel, whose representatives are participating in the contest. The “Palestinian Group” organization in Malmö has already announced its intention to organize demonstrations in which tens of thousands of people will participate.

The rehearsals for Eurovision 2024 continue with the countries’ second rehearsals taking place at the Malmö Arena.

INFE Poll 2024: The results from INFE Rest of the World!

As every year, the INFE International Network conducts the INFE Poll with all its member organizations ranking this year’s entries. Following the votes of 18 member organizations, it’s now time for the last memmber, INFE Rest of the World, to reveal its rankings!

The results of INFE Rest of the World are as per below:

  • 1 point goes to Greece
  • 2 point go to Ireland
  • 3 point go to Belgium
  • 4 points go to Spain
  • 5 points go to Norway
  • 6 points go to Lithuania
  • 7 points go to France
  • 8 points go to Switzerland
  • 10 points go to Croatia and…
  • 12 points go to Italy

The 12 points of the INFE Rest of the World go to Italy while the top three is completed by Croatia and Switzerland that received 10 and 8 points respectively.

The overall and final score is as per below:

So after the points of the last union, the winner of the INFE Poll 2024 is Switzerland with Nemo and the song “The Code” collecting 130 points. Italy finished in second place with just three points difference from the first Switzerland, i.e. with 127 and Croatia in third with 124.

Watch the performances of Germany, Moldova and Czechia in “A Little Bit More”!

Just like last year, some time before the first rehearsals of the countries, the show called “A Little Bit More” aired on the official Eurovision YouTube channel.Advertisement

So, for all this time before the rehearsals, Eurovision TV will upload different performances of the artists, like different versions of their songs, or covers of songs from other artists.

The first video of the day, comes from the Moldovan representative, Natalia Barbu, singing the acoustic version of her song “In The Middle”:

Eurovision 2024: Τhe Netherlands’ first rehearsal!

Last on the stage of Eurovision Song Contest 2024 for today, are the Netherlands! Joost Klein with his song“Europapa” is ready for his first rehearsal on the stage of Malmö Arena, in Sweden!

Who is Joost Klein?

Dutch rapper, composer, and former YouTuber Joost Klein was born on November 10, 1997. He is known for his songs “Scandinavian Boy”, “Wachtmuziek” and “Friesenjung”, and his albums M Van Marketing, Albino and 1983. Even though the majority of his tracks are hip-hop, he frequently incorporates electronic music elements into his performances, such as drum and bass, hardstyle, and gabber.

The Rehearsal

Our final rehearsal for today is from musician, writer and artist Joost Klein from the Netherlands, who will be wrapping up the second Semi-Final with his banging dance track Europapa. Come for the high-energy rave and the lyrical tour of Europe, stay for the bit at the end where it goes full happy hardcore.

Fans of Joost will be delighted that his signature dance moves and giant blue shoulder pads have be shipped to Malmö, along with a keyboard player dressed as a fluffy blue and yellow bird – presumably to represent both the EU flag but also conveniently repping Sweden. The LED wall is a manic visual tour of the lyrics, and the whole thing is three minutes of infectious dance energy, with Joost flanked on stage by two female dancers in white tracksuits.

Eurovision 2024: Norway’s first rehearsal!

Next up, and second to last for today, on the stage of Eurovision Song Contest 2024 is Norway! Gåte with their song“Ulveham” are ready for their first rehearsal on the stage of Malmö Arena, in Sweden!

Who are Gåte?

Gåte (Norwegian for ‘riddle’) is a band from Trøndelag, Norway playing Norwegian folk music bred with metal and electronica. Their style has been referred to as progressive folk-rock. The band consists of Gunnhild Sundli, Magnus Børmark, Jon Even Schärer, Mats Paulsen and John Stenersen. The band released their first EP, “Gåte EP” in 2000, and rapidly gained popularity. In 2024 they competed in the Norwegian national final for Eurovision 2024, winning the ticket to Malmö and the country’s representation in this year’s contest.

The Rehearsal

Two more rehearsals to go today, and next up Is Norway! Gåte have been performing together for over twenty years – their sound is a mix of rock and Norwegian folk. Their song, Ulveham is a folk tale about a maiden with an evil stepmother who is banished to the woods, transformed into a wolf and ordered to kill her brother. We are not expecting a dance break.

What we are getting, however, is the whole dark, witchy mood of this song, very similar to Gåte’s performance at Melodi Grand Prix but on an epic Malmö scale. A low, slow-spinning platform with some rocks and trees, like a goth terrarium, backed by spooky swirling graphics, lots of atmospheric lasers and green spotlights.

We’ve seen lead singer Gunnhild in lots of amazing outfits over pre-party season – today she’s wearing dark green wide trousers with a matching top that designed to look like she has leaves woven across one shoulder. In the final chorus one of the guitarists throws his guitar high into the air, then catches it – we can only imagine how many guitars have been sacrificed for this big finish.

This is one of the harder performances to describe today because it’s pure atmosphere – a mix of pounding drums, building tempo and Gåte giving it everything.

Eurovision 2024: An official announcement regarding Sertab Erener’s Interval Act expected tomorrow!

Turkey’s long-distance Eurovision Song Contest 2003 winner, Sertab Erener, has posted that an announcement is expected tomorrow regarding her possible appearance at Eurovision 2024!

It has been rumored for some time now by Turkish media that Sertab Erener will perform at this year’s Eurovision Song Contest 2024. According to her post on her personal Instagram account, she said:

“Tomorrow I will be able to write about what will happen on stage at the Eurovision Song Contest. Tomorrow there will also be an official statement.”
