Norway: The MGP 2024 line-up is ready, according to Head of Delegation Stig Karlsen!

Norway has confirmed that Melodi Grand Prix will remain as the country’s selection process for Eurovision 2024. The submission window closed for those interested in submitting an entry on August 31 and the process that will filter down the entrants, who will participate in the main event, is currently progressing.

As you read in one of our past articles, Stig Karlsen, the Head of the Norwegian delegation, had announced that the Grand Final of Melodi Grand Prix 2024 will take place on February 3 2024. Stig posted on instagram and now confirmed that the line-up of the acts that will take part in Melodi Grand Prix 2024 have already been selected:

What a thrill to call up artists and their team to let them know that they have been chosen to participate on Norways biggest music show.”

The assessment of the submitted acts is still ongoing and we expect the reveal of MGP’s 2024 line-up in early January, probably on January 5. Moreover, since there was no announcement made, we are still expecting the announcement of the venue that will host MGP 2024 in early 2024.

Melodi Grand Prix 2024 timeline

As far as we are concerned, MGP 2024 will include three semi finals, with six participants each. From each semi final, probably three acts will advance to the Grand Final of February 3. Hence, bearing in mind the aforementioned MGP 2024 structure, we conclude that the dates of Melodi Grand Prix 2024 will be as following:

  • First Semi Final: January 13, 2024
  • Second Semi Final: January 20, 2024
  • Third Semi Final: January 27, 2024
  • Grand Final: February 3, 2024

After having won the contest a total of 14 times ( Sweden 7 times, Denmark 3 times, Norway 3 times and Finland 1 time) and giving the Eurofans hits after hits each year, the Nordic countries are ready to invite Europe to the first Nordic Eurovision Party.

The aim of the Nordic Eurovision Party is to gather participants of the current Eurovision edition together with fans and press members like the other pre-events in Madrid, Barcelona, London, Tel Aviv or Amsterdam. Participants of the 2024 Eurovision Song Contest will be performing together with former participants of the ESC and contests of national pre selections.

The first edition will be celebrated on Sunday, the 14th of April 2024 in the well known and historical ballroom hall of the 4-star boutique hotel BERNS in Stockholm, Sweden. The event will open its doors at 7pm and start at 8pm.

Two different ticket types are offered to the fans:

  • Eurofans Tickets (early entry, standing, collectors lanyard included) limited available: 800SEK

Norway: The most possible days for Melodi Grand Prix 2024!

Through a research conducted by the website escnorge, several announcements were found from NRK, Norway’s public television, regarding the search for professionals for Melodi Grand Prix 2024. These positions are Producer, Producer for the artists’ appearances, content creator and arists coordinator for MGP 2024.

The most interesting about these announcements is that three of them mention the end date of the each job. The content creator’s last day is Sunday, February 4th, while the artist coordinator’s last day is Sunday, February 18th. This helps us estimate that the MGP will take place in February.

Since the artist coordinator has a deadline of February 18th, we can believe that the MGP 2024 final will take place on Saturday, February 10th.

The previous winner of Melodi Grand Prix and Norway’s representative at Eurovision 2023, was Alessandra Mele with the song “Queen of Kings” and placed 5th in the Grand Final:
