Latvia: The Semi Final Results of Supernova 2025!

Latvia has officialy begun searching for their next entry in Eurovision and the Semi Final from their national selection “Supernova 2025” has been completed. The show has been broadcasted by “LTV“, Latvia’s national TV broadcaster. For a 4th year in a row, the presentation of Supernova was made by the duo Ketija Šēnberga & Lauris Reiniks.

The Semi Final’ Performances:

Nineteen entries have been competed in the Semi Final for 1 of the 10 tickets for the Final of Supernova 2025:

The Results:

Only 10 out of the 19 entries could reach the Final. The results were formed by a combination of a jury vote & televoting system:

The Final of Supernova 2025 will take place in 08/02/2025, where Latvia will choose its next representive for Eurovision. Until then. you can enjoy once again Latvia’s 2024 entry, when Dons performed its song “Hollow” and reached the 16th place in the Grand Final with 64 points!

Latvia: Supernova 2025 Begins Tonight!

Another country begins its Eurovision 2025 journey tonight – Latvia! The Supernova 2025 semi-final takes place this evening, and in just a few hours, we will find out which ten artists will advance to the grand final next Saturday.


Supernova 2025 – Semi-Final

A total of 19 artists will take the stage tonight, each hoping to secure a spot in the final and move one step closer to representing Latvia at the 69th Eurovision Song Contest.

How will the finalists be chosen?
The top 10 acts will be determined through a combination of public voting and a jury panel selected by Latvia’s national broadcaster. The same process will be followed next Saturday to determine the Supernova 2025 winner and Latvia’s Eurovision 2025 representative.


The Hosts

For the fourth consecutive year, Ketija Šēnberga and Lauris Reiniks will host Supernova!

Ketija Šēnberga – Returning for her eighth time as host (previously in 2015, 2016, 2019, 2020, 2022, 2023, and 2024).
Lauris Reiniks – Eurovision 2003 representative (as part of F.L.Y. with “Hello From Mars”) is hosting for the fourth time (previously in 2022, 2023, and 2024).

Latvia at Eurovision 2024

Last year, Dons represented Latvia at Eurovision 2024 with “Hollow”, finishing in 16th place in the Grand Final.

Latvia: A Surprise Withdrawal from Latvia’s Supernova 2025

A surprise withdrawal was announced just days before the start of Supernova 2025, Latvia’s national selection for the Eurovision Song Contest 2025, which will take place in Basel, Switzerland.

Contestant Grēta (Grēta Grantiņa), who was set to compete in the semi-final of the national competition with her song “Monster”,  was forced to withdraw due to health issues.

Supernova producer Guntars Gulbiņš thanked Grēta for her participation, wished her a speedy recovery, and expressed hope that she will return as a contestant next year. He also confirmed that there will be no significant changes to the semi-final’s live broadcast:

The semi-final will feature 19 artists, and as planned, 10 of them will advance to the final based on a 50/50 split between jury and public voting.

The semi-final is scheduled for Saturday, February 1, where the jury and public vote will determine which 10 contestants will make it to the final. The final will take place on February 8, using the same voting system to select Latvia’s entry for Eurovision 2025.

Latvia will compete in the first half of the Second Semi-Final of Eurovision 2025.

Latvia: 96 entries submitted for Supernova 2025!

The submission window for Supernova 2025, the Latvian national selection for Eurovision, opened two months, marking the official beginning of the Eurovision 2025 season for the Baltic state. The submission’s period ended on October 21st, after being opened since late August.

Hence, LTV revealed that 96 entries were submitted for Supernova 2025 and will compete for the Latvian representation in Basel.

The interest remains high

The submissions’ number did not increase in comparison with the past editions neither set any groundbreaking records to the competition. However and according to the Head of the Entertainment and Documentary Content Editorial Department of Latvian Television, Agnese Kubliņa:

Although the number of applications has not increased, the competition promises to be splendid and fierce. There is a wide spectrum of talent among the participants, representing various music genres – from already known names to brand new talents. The show promises to be a real musical adventure! In addition, this year there are more surprises than ever before, proving that the Eurovision Song Contest is a unique opportunity to appeal to a huge audience around the world!

Among the submitted artists are also Citi Zēni, the group who represented the country in Eurovision 2022 with their song “Eat Your Salad”.

Supernova 2025 – what’s next?

Now that the deadline for submission is over a jury will evaluate the originality, orchestration, messages, and relevance of the songs, on the current music scene. They will also evaluate the vocal abilities of the performers, how competitive they are in the international pop music market, previous achievements in the music industry, and their opportunities for future success.

Participants who move to the next round of Supernova 2025 will be announced in November. The Supernova 2025 final will take place in February.

Dons emerged as the winner of Supernova 2025 and therefore the Latvian representative in Basel with his song “Hollow”. He ultimately brought Latvia back to the Grand Final for the first time since 2016, placing sixteenth.
