Norway: Nora Foss Al-Jabri is rumored for Melodi Grand Prix 2025!

Television broadcaster TV2 has revealed that Nora Foss Al-Jabri will compete in Melodi Grand Prix 2025, following her 2nd place finish in the 2012 national final.

The singer who became known through Norske Talenter, according to sources who spoke to TV 2, is set to make her comeback at Melodi Grand Prix 2025. In 2012, the singer competed in Melodi Grand Prix with “Somewhere Beautiful” and despite being the jury’s favorite, she finished in 2nd place in the Norwegian final for the Eurovision Song Contest.

Nora Foss Al-Jabri told TV2 that she knows nothing about Melodi Grand Prix, but the singer confirmed that she signed with Sony Music earlier this week and is looking forward to releasing new music in 2025.

Ten artists will compete for the coveted title and the ticket to Eurovision. They will be officially revealed during a grand press event on Thursday, January 16. Media invitations will be sent out early in the new year, adding to the anticipation of who will take the stage at the Oslo Spektrum.

For those eager to experience the  live show, ticket sales begin on Friday, November 22, at 12:00. This is a unique opportunity to witness the excitement and glamour of Norway’s biggest music competition up close.

Last year’s MGP winners, Gåte, represented Norway in Malmö with their song “Ulveham”, finishing in last place.

Norway: MGP 2025 line-up is in the making!

A month ago, it was announced that Stig Karlsen will resign from his roles as project manager for MGP and HoD for Noway after ten years, as he will handle Jannicke Mikkelsen’s communications and media during her SpaceX mission. Despite his resignation, he will remain in his position until September 30th and he is working for the upcoming edition of MGP, the Norwegian national selection for Eurovision.

He disclosed via his personal Instagram account that he has listened to every song submitted for this year’s competition. Now, the live castings will start and we then the lineup will be decided.

Gåte were crowned as the winners of MGP 2024 and therefore the representatives of Norway in Malmö. With their song “Ulveham“, the band placed last in the Grand Final with just sixteen points.

Norway starts MGP 2025 preparations with first songwriting camp!

Norway’s national final Melodi Grand Prix 2024 has not finished yet, but the nordic country is starting preparations already for next year’s Eurovision.

Norwegian music studio “The Woods” has invited interested musicians to participate in the songwriting camp, for  Melodi Grand Prix 2025. The songwriting camp will take place in  April 2024.

MGP 2025 Songwriting camp

“The Woods” will host the first songwriting camp which will start modeling the first demo songs and ideas that may end up competing on the stage of Melodi Grand Prix.  Songwriting camps are significant events.  They are aimed to connect artists and composers and kickstart the creative process to get the best candidates for the Eurovision Song Contest. The songwriting camp will take place in Rennes, Norway.  Furthermore, some of the songs created there may compete in MGP 2025 and even in Eurovision 2025.

The writing camp will start on April 5, 2024, and will last approximately two days. The organizers promise that all songs will be considered for the Melodi Grand Prix 2025 selection. In addition to this, the head of the Norwegian delegation to Eurovision, Stig Carlsen will also be present.

The writing camp in Norway is one of the many songwriting events that take place in Europe every year, where many creators gather and write songs, many of which end up competing in the Eurovision Song Contest.

The final of the 2024  Melodi Grand Prix will be held on Saturday, at  19:50  CET.  A combined vote of the public (60%) and an international jury (40%) will decide who will represent Norway at the Eurovision Song Contest 2024 held in Malmö, Sweden.
