After a very long period of radio silence regarding the Eurovision Song Contest for Latin America, it seems that there has been some development on the subject. Discussions have already begun about the possibility of Chile being the country to host the first edition of Eurovision for Latin American countries.

A meeting between the Chilean Minister of Culture and the Arts and Voxovation for the Latin American Eurovision Song Contest took place on October 17. Chilean government disclosures show that a 1-hour meeting took place between the Minister of Culture and the rights holders of the Latin American Eurovision Song Contest, Voxovation, who were represented by Omar Retamal and Greg Lipstone.

The topics of the meeting were as per below:

  • Presentation of the Eurovision Song Contest: Discuss the possibility of Chile being the next host of this prestigious festival, which will require collaboration and support from the Ministry of Culture and the Arts.
  • Cultural and Artistic Impact: Analyze how the festival can promote Chilean culture on an international stage, highlighting local talents and strengthening Chile’s cultural identity.
  • Investment and Development Opportunities: Explore the economic and development opportunities that the festival will bring to Chile, including boosting tourism, creating jobs, and increasing Chile’s international visibility.

The Latin American Eurovision was first announced in July 2022, with the competition being produced by Voxovation, specifically by Christer Björkman, Anders Lenhoff, Ola Melzig, Peter Settman and Greg Lipstone, the producers of the American Song Contest and the Eurovision Song Contest Canada.

Kosovo: Positive statement by a senior official of the EBU!

Kosovo‘s hopes for participation in the Eurovision Song Contest seem to be boosted.

The reason for this boost was the statements of the senior official of the European Broadcasting Union (EBU), Ratka Batcheva, regarding the national broadcaster of Kosovo, RTK, as published by the official Kosovo Eurovision account on X.

Ms Batcheva stated that:

“RTK is part of our family as it participates in our activities, as the current director of RTK, Mr. Hysen Honduzi, is invited to the General Assembly. The participation of Mr. Honduzi, the head of RTK, in the EBU Assembly, which will be held on December 4 and 5 this year in Lausanne, demonstrates that this Kosovar media is de facto a member of our organization. However, to be de jure a full member, there are porcedures and criteria set by the EBU, for example, Kosovo’s memberhsip in one of the two organizations like the ITU and the Council of Europe. We remain hopeful that Kosovo will soon become a member of one of these organizations and will automatically be a member and participate in Eurovision.”

Croatia: 221 songs submitted for Dora 2025!

The national broadcaster of Croatia, HRT, announced that 221 entries submitted for the 2025 edition of Dora, the song contest through which the former yugoslav country is going to choose their representative for the 69th Eurovision Song Contest in Basel, Switzerland, in May 2025.

The aforementioned 221 submitted entries for Dora 2025 are a record number of submissions since the establishment of Dora in Croatia. However this came as no big surprise given the great success of this year’s entry in Eurovision 2024 with Baby Lasagna and his song“Rim Tim Tagi Dim” which finished in the second place of the grand final. It’s the best placement of the country on the scoreboard in its Eurovision history.

Dora 2025 will take place in the second half of February, with the exact date and venue yet to be confirmed.

Ireland: Donna McCaul is open about her participation in the contest for Ireland!

Almost twenty years after her participation in Eurovision in Kiev, Donna MacCaul says she is ready to try her luck with the contest again, this time without her brother Joe. The McCaul brothers entered the contest in 2005 with the song Love; but unfortunately failed to make it to the grand final. At the time the duo were singled out for their win on RTE’s You’re a star and also as Ireland’s youngest act!

The singer told RSVP Live about her participation in the competition:

In 2005, Joe and I were too young to enter the entertainment industry. It all started with You’re a Star. This was all very new to us and we had never done anything like this before.

It seems Donna has been following the competition over the years and singled out Bambie Thug ‘s entry last May in Malmö, Sweden. She specifically stated:

I absolutely loved what Bambie Thug did last year. I think they did a great job. Even out in America, I was showing people the performance and they loved it. Eurovision has changed a lot. It’s become more about impressing and “what is the person on stage doing?”. It’s more about the performance, it’s not just about the singing.

Finally, the singer seems to be ready for a possible participation with Ireland in the Eurovision Song Contest in the future.

I want to do it with the experience I’ve gained over the years, doing music, different shows and learning myself vocally and musically.

Estonia: Tommy Cash is confident that he will be the Eesti Laul 2025 winner!

In an interview with ERR, the country’s national broadcaster, Estonian rap star Tommy Cash said he was confident that the organizers of Estonia’s top song contest Eesti Laul would not miss the chance to include him among this year’s finalists. Cash also believes he is the best artist to represent Estonia at Eurovision 2025.

Cash told ERR that he had no doubt that his song would be selected for the upcoming edition of Eesti Laul, the competition that will determine who will represent Estonia at Eurovision in 2025.

“I always felt inside that [the judges] would definitely pick that song because I don’t think Eesti Laul is stupid and I don’t think they would pass up the opportunity for me to be in there as I think I could be the best representative for Estonia.”

According to Cash, now strategically is the right time in his career to compete in Eurovision.

“Because I have been working with Käärijä (Finland’s 2023 Eurovision contestant – ed.) and I started working with a producer who also produced the Finnish Eurovision song ‘Cha Cha Cha.’ Then there was this moment where I made a little joke on stage and said I was going to Eurovision and it snowballed so much from there. “When I was walking down the street, all the fans were like, ‘yeah, yeah, Eurovision!’ The internet picked up on it too and so, I feel like young people in Estonia have made up their minds about who is going to Eurovision. Of course, I also hope that everyone will like the song and I will do my best. But you never know. However, I would like to say with confidence that I could go to Eurovision right now.”

If Cash doesn’t win the next Eesti Laul, he said, he’ll be okay with that too.

“I’m totally fine with it, I understand and people will just have to imagine what would have happened if Tommy Cash had gone to Eurovision. I’m giving people the chance to think that I could actually go, because the competition actually starts if I were to win Eesti Laul, which is very important”

He also added that if he doesn’t win Eurovision, he would be satisfied with a top five finish.

Commenting on his participation in the Estonian contest Eesti Laul,  Cash finds his song “Espresso Macchiato” captivating.

“It’s something new for everyone. I’m often asked what I think about such a video or picture. Everything I do has a context for me, but for every person it’s different. Let people listen to it for themselves.”

In the end, Cash clarified that after 2025 he does not intend to compete in Eesti Laul again.

“Why? When I’m already going to Eurovision and I’m going to do it in such a legendary way”

The Eesti Laul 2025 is scheduled for February 15, 2025, when we will find out who will raise the Estonian flag at the 69th Eurovision Song Contest, next May in Basel, Switzerland!

Serbia: 222 entries submitted for Pesma za Evroviziju 2025!

The deadline for submitting entries for Pesma za Evroviziju 2025 (PzE 2025), the national competition that will determine Serbia’s next entry in the 69th Eurovision Song Contest in Basel, Switzerland, ended on November 10.

A total of 222 entries were submitted for Pesma za Evroviziju 2025, and contest editor Olivera Kovačević and music editor Uroš Marković say the difficult part now is selecting the 28 entries that will compete in the semi-finals.

Olivera Kovačević and Uroš Marković were guests on the show “Jedan dobar dan” where they made relevant statements.

Uroš Marković stated:

“Pesma za Evroviziju is becoming more popular every year. Last year’s final was watched by 1,750,000 people on television and another 450,000 on YouTube. All in all, that’s more than two million people. This year, we are in negotiations with the Eurovision Song Contest to broadcast the final for the Serbian representative on their official channel.”

According to him, Pesma za Evroviziju gives the contestants a great chance for promotion, because it is covered by the media and is very popular.

In turn, Olivera Kovačević stated:

“The careers of many now famous performers started at PZE, and the fact that the competition is increasingly popular shows that we have found the path we need to follow and that we are making progress every year, both visually and in terms of content.”

She also reveals that there are very good applications for the upcoming competition and many famous performers, but she cannot name them because the selection committee will evaluate them in early December and then a list of those who have passed will be made.

“It is the best when you offer a variety of genres, from ethno, to rock and pop, to metal. It is the same at the ‘Eurovision’, every year they try to find a recipe. One year ‘Måneskin’ win, and the next year everyone plays something similar. This year Nemo won, probably next year some will try something in that vein”

The names that will compete in Pesma za Evroviziju will be revealed in mid-December.
