Spain: Junior Eurovision 2024 Cost RTVE 7.3 Million Euros
According to information from the Spanish public broadcaster RTVE, hosting the 22nd Junior Eurovision Song Contest in Madrid on November 16, 2024, at Caja Mágica required more than 7 million Euros, specifically 7,311,809 Euros.
More specifically, RTVE stated that the budget was divided into two categories:
- External expenses, amounting to 6,545,043 Euros. The breakdown of these costs includes:
- Co-productions and associated productions: €277,840.00
- Producers: €5,198,877.97
- Decorations and settings: €165,850.00
- Costumes: €1,500.00
- Rental of technical and other equipment: €456,062.52
- Rental of studios, stages, and others: €246,436.65
- Other services: €27,500.00
- Heavy transport: €460.00
- Communication, connections, and circuits: €14,000.00
- Accommodation and catering: €125,448.00
- Personal transportation: €27,327.90
- Collaborations and professional services: €3,700.00
- Internal expenses, which totaled 766,765 Euros and covered:
- Technical: €93,466.36
- Internal staff: €673,299.59
It is worth noting that the Junior Eurovision 2024 took place in Madrid following Spain’s second-place finish in the 2023 contest. The winner of the 2023 contest, France, declined the hosting responsibility as it had already hosted the Junior Eurovision that year in Nice.
The winner of the Junior Eurovision 2024 was Andria Putkaradze from Georgia with the song “To My Mom”. His victory made Georgia the most successful country in the history of the contest. Georgia debuted in the Junior Eurovision Song Contest in 2007 and has now won the title four times. The last time Georgia hosted the contest was in 2017, following their victory in 2016.
