Icelandic broadcaster RÚV has published the detailed results of the Icelandic national final Söngvakeppnin.

The conclusion is that the VÆB brothers were the clear winners during all the stages of the grand final.

The song RÓA received a resounding victory on the final night of Söngvakeppnin 2025, which was broadcast live on RÚV last Saturday evening. The song composed by Matthías Davíð Matthíasson, Hálfdán Helga Matthíasson, Inga Þór Garðarsson, and Gunnar Björn Gunnarsson, came in first place both with the international jury and the public telephone vote. The song also received the most telephone votes in the semi-finals.

The song contest took place over three nights. On the first two Saturday nights, five songs competed each night, and three songs that won the televote advanced. Six songs competed in the final on February 22, and an international jury of seven countries had half the weight of the vote while the televote represented the other 50% of the vote.

Semifinal 1

2. Eins og þú – Ágúst: 10.069 votes (24,20%)
3. Frelsið mitt – Stebbi JAK: 8.853 votes (21,28%)
4. Ég flýg í storminn – Birgo: 5.089 votes (12,23%)
5. Norðurljós – BIA: 4.945 votes (11,89%)

The songs RÓA, Eins og Úu and Frelsið mitt advanced to the finals.

Semifinal 2

1. Þrá – Tinna: 9.846 atkvæði (23,30%)
2. Eldur – Júlí og Dísa: 9.469 atkvæði (22,41%)
3. Aðeins lengur – Bjarni Arason: 9.323 atkvæði (22,06%)
4. Flugdrekar – Dagur Sig: 7.400 atkvæði (17,51%)
5. Rísum upp – Bára Katrín: 6.218 atkvæði (14,72%)

The songs Þrá, Eldur and Kvaðurs lengur advanced to the finals.

Final

On the final night, an international jury, made up of representatives from seven countries, had half the weight of total vote. Each country gave the songs 5, 6, 7, 8, 10 and 12 points.

The public’s votes on the final night totaled 131,956, and those votes were calculated into a number of points based on the jury’s total score. The public could vote by calling or sending an SMS to the number of the song in question and through the RÚV Stjörnur app.
