After yesterday’s press release of ERT, which says that the ERT administration would like to continue its collaboration with Stefania and next year, the 17-year-old singer, officially accepted the proposal and so we can confidently say that is Greece’s representative for Eurovision 2021.

“Although I am very saddened by the cancellation of the Eurovision Song Contest 2020, I fully support the decision, as health and safety are above all else. 💙 I would like to say a big THANK YOU to everyone at ERT, not only for choosing me to represent our country at Eurovision 2020, but mainly because they want to do it again at Eurovision 2021 expressing their support in person to me twice means too much to me and i won’t disappoint you. So make an appointment in Rotterdam in 2021 … And as @marketinggreece says: When the time comes, we’ll be there for you. Until then be healthy 💙🇬🇷🤍”

Stefania

In her appearance on Dutch television yesterday, Stefania said she would obviously like to be part of the next year’s contest with a different song, as “SUPERG! RL” by 2021 will sound “old”. Other artists made similar statements.

Greece: ERT’s Announcement for Cancellation of Eurovision 2020 | With Stefania in Eurovision 2021

The question that concerns all fans of the contest, and not only, is whether ERT will choose Stefania as its representative for Eurovision 2021 as well. Not long ago, Greek public broadcaster issued a press release announcing the cancellation of this year’s competition. In this announcement,ERT  thanks Stefania and her team for their excellent cooperation and it seems that they are giving an appointment in Rotterdam next year!

“A decision by the European Public Broadcasting Union (EBU) has canceled the Eurovision  Song Contest in Rotterdam because of the coronavirus pandemic. In its letter to EBU members, contest  executive Jon Ola Sand said – inter alia -: “Our dear partners and friends, We are at a disadvantage in announcing the cancellation of this year’s Eurovision in Rotterdam. In the last few weeks we have worked out a number of alternative projects aimed at holding this year’s competition, but the uncertainty created by the spread of COVID-19 in Europe in conjunction with the security measures imposed by both the Dutch authorities and governments of the participating countries led the EBU to the difficult decision not to proceed with Eurovision 2020 as planned. The EBU, NPO, NOS, AVROTROS and the Rotterdam authorities are continuing discussions on the competition in 2021. We understand your frustration at this time, and as we elaborate on the developments resulting from this unprecedented decision, we ask you to your patience until we are younger in the days and weeks ahead. ” ERT has already assessed as very positive the way in which the Greek and European audiences have accepted this year’s selection of the talented Stephania Luberakakis, as well as the cooperation she has had with her. ERT intends to continue this cooperation over time, as the EBU’s final decisions become known”.

SUPERG! RL by Dimitris Kontopoulos, ARCADE and Sharon Vaughn may not have been represented to us at Eurovision 2020, but it was loved by all Greeks bringing it high from the very first moment of its release on all charts. In the difficult days we all live in, let’s hold on to the optimism and power of this song, hoping that soon we will have beautiful moments again.

Greece: “SUPERG!RL” just released! Enjoy it

Following its first broadcast on ERT and the tv show “Eurovision Countdown”, the video clip of the Greek entry, “SUPERG!RL“, is now available on Stefania’s YouTube channel. In the following hours there will be in all the e-shops. Enjoy it in repeat!

Once again, the music is written by Dimitris Kontopoulos and ARCADE, while the lyrics are by Sharon Vaughn, Dimitris Kontopoulos and ARCADE. The director of the video clip is talented Costas Karydas.

This is the song and video clip of the Greek entry for Eurovision 2020. Watch it below:

The authors’ statements shortly after the first official release of the Greek entry

As has long been known, the creative team includes Dimitris Kontopoulos and ARCADE, while Sharon Vaughn has written some of the lyrics. The director of the performance  in Rotterdam will be Fokas Evangelinos, while the video clip we first enjoyed a few minutes ago is directed by the promising Kostas Karydas.

“Stefania has a very strong voice and a very nice tone,“said renowned composer and producer Dimitris Kontopoulos.

“To be honest, it was difficult to find the right song for Stefania, as we wanted to fit both her age and her personality, but I think we did it. It is my first time competing for the Eurovision contest with Arcade, a very talented group of composers and producers, and it is always my honor to work with Sharon Vaughn, an outstanding songwriter with international success”.

Director and scriptwriter Costas Karydas, speaking about the video clip, said:

We created a story with surreal elements. We are following a young girl who finds the strength to embrace her specialty in a society that sees her as something foreign. It is a journey of exploring power within it. The video comes to complement the song, which is dynamic and fresh. The whole team is made up of professionals, who in their field have given 100% to get a perfect result. We also had a great collaboration with Stefania, who surprised us with her hard work and acting skills”.

Eurovision: Dimitris Kontopoulos equaled the composer’s record with most entries in the same contest

Dimitris Kontopoulos wrote his own story yesterday, after equaling Borislav Milanov’s record of 2017 with his three entries in the same contest last night.

He equalized the composer’s record with most entries in the same competition
Dimitris Kontopoulos has three songs in this year’s competition. Greece’s SUPERG! RL, Moldova’s Prison and Estonia’s What Love Is. This is something that happened once again during the contest.

In 2017, Borislav Milanov was the composer, among other co-creators of course, of the holdings of Serbia, FYROM and Bulgaria. Of course, only one of his three songs made it to the finals. Particularly the Bulgarian one, “Beautiful Mess”, which finally won the second place.

In order to prevent the malevolent ones that are abundant this year, Dimitris Kontopoulos typically (although he has rights reserved normally), does not sign the Estonian song as a composer, but as a producer. This was done so that there would be no problem with the rules of Eesti Laul, since the candidate songs should have at least 50% Estonian creators. So, Sharon Vaughn, who is an American citizen and composer Uku Suviste himself, seems a regular lyricist.

Record for Sharon Vaughn. Will D. Kontopoulos write history in Rotterdam?

The record holder is lyricist Sharon Vaughn, as no lyricist in the history of the competition has ever signed three entries in the same competition!

However, Dimitris Kontopoulos is also expected to write history, but to be sure, he will write a new story, since if all three of his entries go to the final, he will be the only composer in the history of the competition with three songs in the final!

Recall that last year John Lundvik was a composer for Sweden and the United Kingdom, as Thomas G: Son has previously been a composer for two.

In stubbornness, the Dream Team and Dimitris Kontopoulos, in particular, remain dynamic and successful in Eurovision, continuing to enjoy the recognition and recognition of many countries!
