Eurovision 2022: Local Media Reveals New Details of Turin’s Hosting Plans
Local media revealed new details regarding Eurovision Song Contest 2022 hosting plans, scheduled to take place in Turin this May.
The local media outlet “Torino Oggi” has reported some new updates regarding the preparation of the city of Turin in order to host the upcoming Eurovision Song contest 2022. Two areas stand out to local city official, perfect for temporary structures to be set up around the arena to provide the extra space for all the required facilities needed to host the Eurovision Song Contest.
The first temporary structure will be located in front of the arena which is set to host the 66th Eurovision Song Contest. It will serve as the press center for the event, as well as providing additional space for the delegations to relax.
At Piazza Castello, more temporary structures will be raised to create a venue specifically for the artists that are going to perform in this historic location. It is also speculated that this is the location of the Eurovillage. The exact location of the Eurovillage, however, has not been announced yet.
It was also stated that there are no news regarding ticket sales, with local media speculating that delays are a result of the constant uncertainty regarding the pandemic. Last year’s contest took place with a limited number as well as many national final events, including Italy’s selection, to be have some capacity restrains.
As of now, it is not publicly known whether Covid-19 protection measures will be taken, such as audience capacity reduction, in this year’s Eurovision Song Contest. Live-on-Tape will most likely be used for another year in Italy. Live-on-Tape performances were introduced last year as a last resort plan for any delegation that could not travel to Rotterdam, to ensure that the 2022 contest will take place.
The city of Turin will host Eurovision Song Contest 2022 in May 10, 12 and 14, 2022. The contest venue will be PalaOlimpico. The arena opened in 2005 and has hosted many concerts and sports events, including the ice-hokey tournament during the Winter Olympic Games in 2006.
