Iceland: Söngvakeppnin 2022 Final tonight!
Today it’s the final off Söngvakeppnin 2022, the process through which Iceland will choose its participation for the upcoming Eurovision Song Contest.
Live from RVK studios, the land of ice and fire will select its representative in Eurovision 2022.
The 5 finalists of the grand final are:
- Sigga, Beta & Elín – Með hækkandi sól
- Stefán Óli – Ljósið
- Katla – Þaðan af
- Reykjavikurdaetur – Turn This Around
- Amarosis – “Don’t you know”
Katla, Stefán Óli and sisters Sigga, Beta and Elín (who had not recorded an English version of their song anyway) chose to sing in Icelandic, as they did in the semifinals.
Reykjavíkurdætur, or Daugthers of Reykjavik, will perform the English version of their song, which also contains lyrics in Icelandic. Therefore, the only entry excusively in English is Amarosis, who were eliminated in the first semi-final but selected by the committee to compete in the final as a wildcard.
The Söngvakeppnin 2022 final will have two rounds of voting. In the first round, the two songs that will be voted on the most by the combination of the vote of the Icelandic viewers and the jury will qualify for the Superfinal. In the Superfinal, the two songs will be put exclusively at the discretion of the public, which will choose the representative of Iceland at Eurovision 2022.
Söngvakeppnin 2022 will be presented by Björg Magnúsdóttir, Jón Jónsson and Ragnhildur Steinunn Jónsdóttir.
The second semifinal of Söngvakeppnin 2022 will start at 20:45 CET and will last two and a half hours. You can watch it through the RÚV website by clicking HERE.
