Eurovision: The Sory of Fire Saga goes to Broadway

“Eurovision: The Story of Fire Saga” is going to Broadway!

Will Ferrell has revealed that the film inspired in the Eurovision Song Contest will get its Broadway adaptation. During an appearance on The Graham Norton Show, Ferrel talked about the new project.

Eurovision: The Story of Fire Saga is a 2020 film that centers around the duo Fire Saga and their journey representing Iceland in the Eurovision Song Contest. The film topped the Netflix streaming charts during its first week of release and received multiple award nominations.

The film was positively received by Eurovision fans and was referenced by Iceland’s spokesperson, Hannes Óli Ágústsson during the jury voting for Eurovision 2021 when he announced 12 points to Ja Ja Ding Dong.

We’re trying to develop it into a Broadway show,” said Will Ferrell, who produced and acted in the movie. The show’s current stage of development and wether the European Broadcasting Union -which owns the rights to the Eurovision Song Contest- will approve the production or not are still unknown.

The Eurovision Song Contest has not been adapted to theatre to this date with the EBU’s approval. An official quiz show had previously been planned, and Eurovision: The Movie, which starred Sacha Baron Cohen, was scheduled before Fire Saga.
