Italy: Olly wins Sanremo 2025!

The 75th Sanremo Music Festival is now history, with  Olly emerging as the big winner with his song Balorda Nostalgia. Olly made history by winning the prestigious festival !

The Show

Under the dazzling lights of the Ariston Theatre, the stage was set for the grand finale of Sanremo 2025. After nights filled with breathtaking performances, only a handful of artists remain in the race for Italy’s most coveted musical prize.Carlo Conti once again proved to be an excellent host. For the Serata Finale, he was joined by Alessia Marcuzzi and Alessandro Cattelan, one of the presenters of Eurovision 2022, which took place in Turin.

Guests at the Ariston included Gabry Ponte, Vanessa Scalera, Alberto Angela, Edoardo Bove, and for the second consecutive night, Mahmood, who performed his new song. Antonello Venditti received a lifetime achievement award. On the Suzuki stage, we saw Tedua perform tonight.

The Songs

 The 29 contestants in the Campioni category of Sanremo 2025 performed their songs for the third and final time. The order in which they appeared was as follows:

The Results

After the competition segment concluded, the overall rankings for positions 29 to 6 were announced. The results were determined by the average score from the first three nights of the festival, combined with today’s voting.

Tonight, the traditional Sanremo triple voting system was used:

  • 34% of the result was decided by the public vote,
  • 33% by the jury of journalists,
  • and 33% by the radio representatives.

Final Standings

The top five contestants in the overall ranking advanced to the final round of voting. These were:

– Fedez
– Simone Cristicchi
– Brunori Sas
– Lucio Corsi
– Olly

After performing their songs once again, the voting restarted from scratch, following the same triple voting system (34% public, 33% journalists, 33% radio representatives).

The Winner Announcement

Shortly after 02:00 AM, Carlo Conti announced the winner along with the rest of the top five rankings:

  1.  Olly
  2. Lucio Corsi
  3. Brunori Sas
  4. Fedez
  5. Simone Christicchi

This marks Olly’s first victory at the Sanremo Festival. According to the festival’s rules, we now await confirmation on whether Olly has accepted the opportunity to represent Italy at Eurovision 2025.

If he declines, RAI will have to select the highest-ranked artist in the final standings who has accepted the chance to represent Italy in Basel. During the winner’s press conference, we will soon find out whether Giorgia will carry the Italian flag at Eurovision 2025 or if the responsibility will fall to the next eligible contestant.

Who is Olly?

Federico Olivieri, known professionally as Olly, is an Italian singer, songwriter, and rapper born on May 5, 2001, in Genoa, Italy. He grew up in the Foce district of Genoa and began his musical journey at a young age, enrolling in the Conservatorio Niccolò Paganini to study music and singing.

Olly’s rising prominence in the Italian music industry was further solidified with his participation in Sanremo Giovani in November 2022, where he qualified for the 73rd Sanremo Music Festival with his entry “L’anima balla.

Throughout his career, Olly has demonstrated versatility across genres such as pop, hip hop, and R&B, drawing inspiration from artists like Marracash, Post Malone, and Roddy Ricch.

This year, Italy will mark its 50th participation in the competition. In 2024, Angelina Mango secured the 7th place for Italy with La Noia.

As we mentioned, tomorrow the traditional winner’s press conference will take place, where it will be officially confirmed that Olly will represent Italy at the Eurovision Song Contest.
