Olly: “I’m Considering Not Going to Eurovision 2025” – The Reasons Behind His Decision
The winner of the Sanremo Festival 2025, Olly, was the first guest of the new season of Stasera c’è Cattelan…su Rai2. Speaking about Eurovision, he stated:
“With the utmost respect, I know how important and grand this event is. But the problem is that I already have scheduled tour dates during that period.”
From Winning Sanremo to Considering Eurovision
The show premiered shortly after Alessandro Cattelan hosted the Dopo Festival during the 75th edition of Sanremo. During his interview, Olly admitted he is still trying to process what has happened, as his social media following skyrocketed from 300,000 to over a million within a week.
When Cattelan directly asked him if he planned to go to Eurovision, the singer responded:
“It’s true. My tour in May has been sold out for a long time. It’s a huge opportunity, and I would be incredibly proud to participate, but I need to consider it carefully because of my scheduled concerts.”
If he decides to withdraw from the competition, Lucio Corsi may take his place.
How His Life Has Changed & His Relationship with Lucio Corsi
When asked how his life has changed after winning Sanremo, Olly said that aside from increased media attention, everything remains the same. He also highlighted the importance of his friends:
“They are my greatest fortune. They’ve taught me to celebrate my achievements and to be happier about what I accomplish.”
He also spoke about his friendship with Lucio Corsi, emphasizing that he has always believed in his talent:
“He may seem like an outsider, but he has been writing and making music for years. I always knew he would surprise the audience.”
His Response to Criticism About Songwriters
Regarding the criticism surrounding songwriters at Sanremo, Olly defended them, stating:
“Songwriters are professionals who put passion and life into their work. Why does everything have to be criticized? Personally, I’m so happy with my life that I don’t dwell on negativity.”
