Portugal: These are the judges of the semi-finals of Festival da Canção 2024!

Earlier today, RTP, the public broadcaster of Portugal, revealed the names of the judges for the semi-finals of Festival da Canção 2024, the country’s national final for Eurovision 2024!

Seven judges in total, will determine 50% of the final result of the two semi-finals of Festival da Canção 2024, while the public will determine the rest 50%. In the final, these judges will be replaced by regional juries.

The seven judges are:

1. Gisela João (composer)
2. Benjamim (musician)
3.  Lia Pereira (journalist)
4. Miguel Esteves Cardoso (lyricist)
5. Lura (singer)
6. Pedro Oliveira (musician)
7. Mimicat (Portuguese representative Eurovision 2023)

This year’s festival will take place with 20 songs, that will be divided in the two Semi-Finals, 10 songs in each semi-final. Twelve of which, are going to participate in the final, six from each semi-final. Below you can see the allocation of the artists in the semi-finals:

First Semi-Final (February 24, 2024)

1. Nena – “Teorias da Conspiração” 
2. Perpétua – “Bem Longe Daqui” 
3. Mela – “Água”
4. Mila Dores – “Afia a Língua” 
5. Left – “Volto a Ti ” 
6. Rita Rocha – “Pontos Finais” 
7. Noble – “Memory” 
8. João Borsch – “Pelas Costuras” 
9. Iolanda – “Grito” 
10. Bispo – “Casa Portuguesa” 

Second Semi-Final (March 2, 2024)

1. Buba Espinho – “O Farol” 
2. Cristina Clara – “Primavera” 
3. Léo Middea – “Doce Mistério”
4. Filipa – “You Can’t Hide” 
5. João Couto – “Quarto Para Um” 
6. Huca – “Pé De Choro” 
7. No Maka ft Ana Maria – “Aceitar” 
8. Maria João – “Dia”
9. Rita Onofre – “Criatura” 
10. Silk Nobre – “Change” 

The previous winner of Festival da Canção and Portugal’s representative in Eurovision 2023, was Mimicat with the song “Ai coração”, that ended up in 23rd place of the Grand Final, continuing the Portuguese three-year qualification streak.
