Croatia: More details for Dora 2025!
Maja Tokić, the new editor of Dora 2025, revealed additional details about the competition through which Croatia will select its representative for Eurovision 2025.
In an interview in Slobodna Dalmacija, Maja Tokić, the new editor for Dora 2025, revealed additional details about the next edition of the Croatian music competition that will select the country’s representative for the Eurovision Song Contest 2025 in Basel, Switzerland.
During the interview, Tokić did not confirm the official dates of Dora 2025, although it has been confirmed by Croatian head of delegation Tomislav Štengl that it will be held in the second half of February.
She then went on to discuss the changes to Dora’s format and what she is implementing to avoid “a repeat of the Baby Lasagna case”, who almost didn’t enter the contest in 2024 and then won Dora and was the runner-up at the Eurovision 2024 Grand Final. Baby Lasagna secured a place in Dora only after the withdrawal of another artist in the Croatian selection, after initially being on the reserved list.
Tokić added that, like in 2024, Dora 2025 will consist of two semi-finals and the grand final. She revealed that HRT, the national broadcaster, has completely changed the judging panel and that a jury of seven new music experts will select 24 songs and four reserves. The broadcaster has received 221 submissions, ranging in diversity and including French chansons and Irish melodies.
Finally, Tokić stated that the 50-50 voting system of the juries and the televoters remains, but she is also working on introducing online voting. Moreover the international jury will also be maintained The contest will take place either in Zagreb or Opatija. The winner will represent Croatia at the Eurovision Song Contest 2025 in Basel.
