San Marino: The Grand Final of “Una Voce per San Marino 2024” will ultimately be held on February 24!

New information and changes do not stop from coming from the Sanmarinese Eurovision 2024 delegation. Following the reveal of the collaboration between RTV and the London-based startup Casperaki with the aim to bring the first AI Eurovision entry, new regulations regarding UVPSM 2024 were released.

According to the new information, it seems that the Grand Final of UVPSM 2024 is rescheduled and will then be held a week earlier, on February 24, 2024. The regulations also do not rule out another possible reschedule.

The Grand Final of UVPSM will be held at Teatro Nuovo di Dogana, the same venue that has been hosting the selection since 2022.

UVPSM 2024: the entire procedure

As far as it was known, 16 participants will compete in UVPSM 2024 Grand Final.

  • 8 of them would be “emerging artists”
  • and the remaining 8 would be established

The established artists will be selected by RTV without having to participate at any of the following stages of the competition.

Well, the updated UVPSM 2024 regulations give us more insight regarding the emerging artists selection, which will compete at the semi-finals

Semi-finals

Following the conclusion of the “Academy and Casting” phase, Una Voce per San Marino 2024 will consist of six semi-finals in total.

  • Four semi-finals will take place in order for the committee to select the artists who will directly advance to the Grand Final as well as those who will advance to the second-chance semi-final(fifth semi-final). The artists participating in the second-chance semi-final will also fight for a spot at the selection’s Grand Final. During these five semi-finals, approximately seven finalists will be decided.
  • Moreover, a sixth semi-final will be held between Sanmarinese contestants. Out of this semi-final, only one contestant will be directly advanced to the Grand Final.
Grand Final

Between 16 participants, the winner of UVPSM 2024 will be decided by a five-member jury. The winner of the selection will therefore have the right to represent the nation at the Eurovision Song Contest 2024 in Malmö in terms of meeting the criteria of eligibility of RTV.

Despite this marathon session of a national selection, Piqued Jacks, UVPSM 2023 winners, did not manage to qualify to the Grand Final, finishing dead least with nul points.

Eurovision 2024: Gina Dirawi to host Eurovision Song Contest 2024?

We are a tiny bit less than six months away from next year’s Eurovision Song Contest and there are still no clear details about what SVT has planned on the stage or the hosts of the shows.

But here came Aftonbladet‘s Natalie Demirian and Viktoria Hummelstedt, who reported at Aftonbladet TV that according to several readers who had contacted them, Gina Dirawi might have revealed some details when she was recording last week’s “Hellenius Hörna“, a TV4 tv-show. But let’s dive into more detail about what has happened.

Gina was asked about Melodifestivalen and also about whether she will or will not lead Eurovision, next May in Malmö. Dirawi started talking a little about it, before she interrupted the whole thing -according to people who were on-site as an audience- and said that they are not allowed to say anything about what they had just heard, because she herself is not allowed to talk about it yet. She is said to have become very stressed about it and there must have been a strange atmosphere in the studio.

It is still highly unclear if her reaction was this due to the fact of her being bound with an NDA or for any other reasons. On one hand it doesn’t have to mean anything at all, on the other hand we cannot completely rule out the fact that she might be one of the hosts next year, it is just not impossible that she is in it. Time will tell if she will be one of the hosts of next year’s Eurovision Song Contest, which was brought back to Malmö after Loreen won with her entry “Tattoo” by accruing her second victory eleven years after her first one.

Who is Gina Dirawi?

Gina Dirawi is a Swedish television presenter, singer-songwriter, radio personality, blogger, comedian and actress. She is best known as the first woman ever to host Melodifestivalen on three occasions: in 2012 alongside Helena Bergström and Sarah Dawn Finer, in 2013 alongside Danny Saucedo and in 2016 with guest co-hosts in each show. Dirawi was also the Swedish spokesperson at the Eurovision Song Contest in 2016, announcing the results of the Swedish jury vote from Eurovision: The Party in the Tele2 Arena in Stockholm. Gina is of Palestinian descent and her family comes from Lebanon, and it would make much sense if SVT had selected her to be one of the hosts of the contest, which will take place in the most pro-Palestinian city of Sweden at times when there still might be an ongoing middle-eastern conflict between Israel and Palestine.

The Eurovision Song Contest 2024 is organized in collaboration with the city of Malmö and will be broadcast from Malmö Arena on Tuesday 7 May (semi-final 1), Thursday 9 May (semi-final 2) and Saturday 11 May (final) after Loreen won for a second time in Liverpool with the song “Tattoo“.

Eurovision 2024: Second chance to buy tickets soon! | Floor standing tickets will be available!

Earlier today the first tickets for the Eurovision Song Contest 2024 in Malmö were released. The interest was great and the tickets for all the live broadcasts sold out during the afternoon, while there were still a few tickets left for the rehearsals.

Ebba Adielsson, executive producer of the Eurovision Song Contest 2024, confirmed what we reported in our article earlier today that not all ticket types were available to purchase today for production reasons and commented:

“It’s great fun with the great interest and of course we want to offer as many people as possible to see one of the nine shows between May 6 and 11. For production technical reasons, we could not release all tickets now. More tickets will be offered later so those who did not get a ticket now will have a second chance.”

Due to the high pressure on the ticketmaster.se website, they have chosen to slow down the pace to ensure that ticket sales take place in a safe manner. Ebba said:

“We are happy that the technology worked as it should and at the same time grateful for the patience the ticket buyers had in the long queues.”

There was huge engagement even when the BBC released their tickets for the Eurovision Song Contest 2023, a telecast watched by over hundreds of millions of people worldwide and millions more online.

“It is only half a year since the fantastic competitions when Loreen took home the historic win, certainly that and the great buzz on social media may have contributed to the great interest in the Eurovision Song Contest 2024”

says Ebba Adielsson.

Ticket Prices

  • Semi-finals – Evening rehearsals: 145 – 795 SEK
  • Semi-finals – Afternoon rehearsals: 145 – 545 SEK
  • Semi-finals – Live shows: 525 – 2395 SEK
  • Grand Final – Evening rehearsal: 525 – 2395 SEK
  • Grand Final – Afternoon rehearsals: 145 – 1385 SEK
  • Grand Final – Live show: 860 – 3795 SEK

The Eurovision Song Contest 2024 is organized in collaboration with the city of Malmö and will be broadcast from Malmö Arena on Tuesday 7 May (semi-final 1), Thursday 9 May (semi-final 2) and Saturday 11 May (final). The tickets for the Eurovision Song Contest 2024 are sold via Ticketmaster Sweden.

San Marino: Una Voce per San Marino 2024 will include an AI produced entry!

It has now become a reality. AI, namely Artificial Intelligence, is ready to compete on the Eurovision stage for the first time in history, and San Marino might be the first to do so.

RTV, the Sanmarinese broadcaster, will join forces with the Casperaki startup, in order to produce a song that will take part in UVPSM.

The procedure

According to the London-based startup, everyone who considers himself creative, even without the musical expertise, can apply and create a song that may be the one to represent San Marino at the Eurovision Song Contest in Malmö.

  • As of yesterday, November 27, the applications at Casperaki Studio are open. The applicants can work the mixing consoles with Casperaki, Sugar Tunez, Flowmaster, and Albert Einstein and submit entries until January 15, 2024. Those interested can submit as many entries as they want.
  • The applications are also open for singers, who shall send their applications via email and include a link to a YouTube video showing them perform.
  • Out of all the submitted entries, a committee representing both Casperaki and San Marino will review and select the best entries, making a shortlist.
  • On January 2024, a songwriting camp will take place in London, where the shortlisted “songwriters” will be able to work with industry pros to refine their submissions and record the versions presented to San Marino.
  • The announcement of the top contenders will happen in early February 2024.
  • Finally, the first AI produced entry participating at a national final will be announced mid February 2024.

Una Voce per San Marino 2024

In the Grand Final of UVPSM 202416 participants will compete, 8 from each category(established – emerging artists). Both “established” and “emerging” artists will be able to sing only one of their songs in the Grand Final.

The Grand Final of Una Voce per San Marino is scheduled for March 2 2024. It will be held in Teatro Nuovo di Dogana, the same venue that hosted the selection in 2022 and 2023. The winner will be decided by a qualified jury.

The idea behind this AI initiative is that anyone can be an artist and that our shared creativity does not have to be translated into musical experience. Who else but San Marino would have carried out the aforementioned initiative, given that it is a country that loves to experiment and is always open to new ideas.

What’s left to see is how will the EBU react to the now possible scenario of an AI produced Eurovision entry, a topic highly debatable among the executives.

Piqued Jacks, UVPSM 2023 winners, represented San Marino in Eurovision 2023 but did not manage to qualify to the Grand Final, finishing dead least with nul points.
