Kazakhstan: Eurovision 2024 will not be broadcasted!

Khabar, an associate member of the EBU and the broadcaster responsible for Kazakhstan’s participation in Junior Eurovision, will not be broadcasting Eurovision 2024.

This decision, which stems from 2022, is attributed to low ratings and the high cost of acquiring broadcasting rights. As an associate member, Kazakhstan cannot independently apply to participate in Eurovision; instead, they require a special invitation from the contest organizers. It’s reported that Khabar is currently in the process of applying for full EBU membership.

Despite not taking part in Eurovision, the broadcaster participated in Junior Eurovision from 2018 to 2022, achieving 2nd place in 2019 and 2020.

Ukraine: alyona alyona & Jerry Heil promise to sell the throphy in case they win Eurovision 2024!

Alyona Alyona & Jerry Heil, the Ukrainian representatives in this year’s Eurovision, went on to make an important statement, promising that if they win the Contest, they will sell the trophy to help rebuild the bombed schools in Ukraine!

This is not the first time something like this happens. In 2022, the Ukrainian winners, Kalush Orchestra, sold their trophy to help their country, so now alyona alyona, a former kindergarten teacher, expressed her willingness to sell anything in order to help this effort.

Their song symbolizes love and kindness in the face of adversity. The duo’s song reflects the resilience of the Ukrainian people and emphasizes peace, love and unity. Specifically, Jerry Heil stated:

“Our message is not to make people fight, but to unite and help each other. We feel that music can unite, and musically and culturally we can give so much as a nation, we just need to be visible, and we’re thankful for this opportunity.”

Ukraine takes part in the first semi-final of Eurovision 2024 on May 7.

Israel: Eden Golan honoured the Holocaust Memorial Day in Malmö!

Even though 36 out of the 37 participants of this year’s Eurovision, were present in the Turquoise Carpet, namely the opening ceremony of the contest, Eden Golan, the Israeli representative took part in a ceremony about the Holocaust Memorial Day, alongside the Jewish community in Malmö.

Eden Golan lighted a candle in the memory of the 6.ooo.ooo Jews that lost their lives in World War II in the hands of the Nazis, while wearing a yellow ribbon, representing the return of those abducted by Hamas, in October 2023.

“Today, on the eve of Holocaust Day, we will light a candle in thw  memory of the six million members of our people who were murdered. Indeed, in this year, which is perhaps the most emotionally charged we have ever known regarding Israel’s participation in the Eurovision Song Contest, it is important to remember the victims of the Holocaust and the essence of the founding of the state, to remember the need to protect our people and to fight anti-Semitism at all costs.”
