Israel: Eden Golan in the final of Dancing With The Stars in the dress she would wear at Eurovision

Eden Golan appeared in the final of Dancing With The Stars on Wednesday night 4/9, in the dress she was originally going to wear in Eurovision 2024. For the first time, she even sang and danced a different version of Hurricane, for the needs of the dance show, proving that she is not only a very good singer, but also an excellent dancer.

This dress is a creation of Alon Livna, just like the dress she finally wore at Eurovision 2024. Eden Golan had earlier posted on her social media that it was too nice to never wear.

Initially it was written in Israeli media that the EBU was the one that forbade Eden to wear this dress, as there was symbolism in it. In particular, it is stated that the intersection between the ropes refers to the map of Israel and so the EBU asked the Israeli delegation to replace it.

But now Eden’s stylist, Itay Bezaleli, gives a different reason, which is perhaps even more believable. The country’s public broadcaster, KAN, thought it should wear a dress more in keeping with the mood of mourning in Israel, following the October 7 Hamas terror attack that left 1,200 people dead and abducted, another 250 as hostages. So Eden Golan had to wait until the finale of Dancing With The Stars to wear the dress in question and this creation would not go to waste.

Eric Saade: “I had permission from the SVT to wear the Palestinian keffiyeh”

Even though the Eurovision 2024 grand final was almost four months ago, the issues surrounding it still bother fans of the competition, demonstrating yet again that it was the most controversial edition in recent memory. In particular, Eric Saade claimed that he had informed the SVT of his plan to wear the Palestinian symbol “keffiyeh”, and that the broadcaster had given its approval.

The Swedish singer, who represented his country at Eurovision 2011 and participated in the opening act of the first semi-final of this year’s contest, stated that Ebba Adielsson, SVT‘s executive producer for the Eurovision Song Contest, gave him permission to wear the Palestinian keffiyeh, telling him that “symbols are not a problem.

The artist went on to say that he was taken aback by the EBU’s strong response. We remind you that the EBU had denounced the singer’s behaviour as “political” and had declined to upload his appearance on social media.

Ebba Adielsson’s response

Following the aforementioned interview, the executive producer of SVT made the following clarifications:

“I think I was clear about the rules that had to be followed”.

Netherlands: Joost Klein had a previous confrontation with the camerawoman

The camerawoman to whom Joost Klein made a threatening gesture is said to have had an earlier altercation with the Dutch representative during the week of the Eurovision Song Contest. This is reported by the Swedish newspaper Aftonbladet based on the reports of the police interrogations of Klein and the woman, after the incident that cost Joost Klein his place in the Eurovision 2024 final. Aftonbladet published parts of the police reports and thus more details are revealed.

The previous incident reported by the woman allegedly took place when Klein was returning backstage. The singer had asked the woman to stop filming, which she did not do “because she had signed a document agreeing to the filming. I was just doing my job,” he said. According to the woman, the Dutch team apologized after this incident and promised that Klein “wouldn’t react this way again” during the festival.

When Klein made a threatening gesture towards her during the second incident, the woman did not react at first “because I thought Joost was joking”. Klein “became angrier. I felt scared and vulnerable,” the woman reportedly said during her first police interview the night before the final of the Song Contest.

The police informed the singer that the woman was demanding compensation of 7,000 kroner, over 600 euros. According to Aftonbladet, Klein told police interrogations that he had “vague memories of the event”. The singer in that questioning claimed that he made the threatening gesture towards the woman’s camera and not towards the woman herself. According to Aftonbladet, Klein also said at the first interrogation that he was innocent of the crime he was suspected of. “I don’t recognize myself in the incident,” Klein reportedly said.

Aftonbladet did not publish the full police report. Many passages have been blacked out.

AVROTROS and his manager Klein say the singer was “really harassed many times” during the Eurovision Song Contest, but would not comment on whether the Dutch team apologized to the woman after the first incident. The cameraman’s lawyer did not respond to the report.

The Swedish prosecutor’s office dropped the case against Klein in early August because there was not enough evidence to prove that Klein made his “threatening act” with the intention of causing “serious fear” to the camerawoman.

Poland: TVP denies having discussions with JoJo Siwa for Eurovision 2025!

TVP now appears to be rejecting all of the speculation that has been circulating on social media over the past few weeks regarding JoJo Siwa’s potential participation for Poland in Eurovision 2025.

Via a statement, TVP mentions that:

Ladies and Gentlemen, Referring to numerous questions regarding the preparations of Telewizja Polska for the Eurovision Song Contest 2025, we inform you that Telewizja Polska is not conducting any talks with artists on this matter and has not yet made any decisions regarding participation in the Contest. We will inform you about Telewizja Polska’s involvement in the preparations for this year’s Eurovision as soon as possible through the official TVP news channels.

Currently, Telewizja Polska is implementing the “Junior Eurovision Song Contest 2024″. We invite you to TVP2 on September 29 this year for the final of the Polish Junior Eurovision pre-selections, which will be hosted by Artur Orzech, and on November 16 for the final in Madrid.

Because of its current focus on the Junior Eurovision Song Contest, which is scheduled for November 16 in Madrid, TVP hasn’t spoken with JoJo Siwa or any other artist for Eurovision 2025.

JoJo Siwa and Eurovision

Everything began when JoJo’s brand-new song “Yesterday’s Tomorrow’s Today” grabbed fans’ attention on TikTok with its retro Polish disco vibe. It’s even said (not confirmed) that the singer has indeed Polish routes. Then, videos started to pop-up on TikTok endorsing JoJo Siwa to represent Poland in Eurovision 2025. Furthermore, it seems that JoJo Siwa is being followed by both the official Eurovision account and TVP’s account on TikTok.

JoJo Siwa is now in Poland and on a video she uploaded yesterday she confirmed that she is in talks to represent the country in Eurovision 2025. Moreover, she also mentioned that during the period when the competition will be held in Switzerland, another project of hers will be running at the same time, but this does not seem to deter her as she would make it work.

Who is JoJo Siwa?

JoJo Siwa is a media personality, singer, dancer, and actress from the United States. She first appeared as a dancer along with her mother on two seasons of the reality TV series “Dance Moms” in 2015 and 2016. Siwa joined Nickelodeon in 2017 and appeared in a number of TV series. She released a number of kid-friendly songs under Nickelodeon in 2021, including “Boomerang“, which has over a billion views on YouTube. In 2020, she was listed among the 100 most significant individuals worldwide on Time’s yearly list. Siwa’s post-Nickelodeon career began in 2024 with her debut extended play, “Guilty Pleasure“, which featured the hit song “Karma“.

Greece: Is Marina Satti the reason for the change of the president of ERT?

The electronic edition of Avgi , mentions in an article the reasons for the non-remaining of Kon/nos Zoulas in the position of President of ERT. In fact, the columnist claims that, among others, Marina Satti’s appearance at Eurovision 2024 was one of the reasons why Kon/nos Zoulas is saying goodbye to the radio station of Agia Paraskevi.

Marina Satti “fires” Kon/nos Zoulas from ERT

From the first moment, both Marina Satti herself and other contributors to the Greek participation mentioned in their statements that the President of ERT himself, Kon/nos Zoulas, was the one who convinced the popular artist to say yes to Eurovision .

It is no secret that Kon/nos Zoulas, since 2019 when he had assumed the duties of the President of ERT, had several times proposed to Marina Satti and her record label, to represent Greece in the Eurovision contest. Finally, Marina Satti represented Greece in Malmö last May, taking 11th place with ZARI.

Marina Satti’s infamous yawn at the press conference, immediately after the end of the second semi-final and when the representative of Israel Eden Golan was speaking, had provoked strong reactions, forcing even the government representative to take a stand, effectively emptying the behavior of the Greek representative.

Much has been written since then, but the displeasure of the goverment is a given. At the time, many considered Mr. Zoulas to be responsible, as he was the one who chose Marina Satti as Greece’s representative in the competition. Newspaper Vima wrote at the time that the government would like the country’s representative at Eurovision to be chosen in 2025 with the participation of the audience, wanting in this way to abdicate any responsibility that would exist in the selection of the artist.

For what other reasons is Kon/nos Zoulas leaving?

Of course, as you understand, this is not the only reason why Kon/nos Zoulas is leaving ERT. According to the article, the goverment had been deeply dissatisfied with the works of Mr. Zoula in the last period. From the operation of ERTNews which was never in the right place at the right time, to the difficulties to collect the remunerative fee and from the publications about the expensive mixed productions, to the refusal to proceed with the Collective Labor Agreements with the Unions of ERT workers.

And a small editorial

Regardless of one’s view of Marina Satti’s behavior in the competition, it is paradoxical if expected that what upset the government was a rude act by an artist and not the dramas and complaints that accompanied the selection of last year’s Greek entry . Perhaps even this simple incident shows the pathogenicity of the Greek state and the way it solves problems and situations.

Head of German delegation: “Some artists did not applaud the others in the green room for the first time”

The head of the German delegation, Alexandra Wolfslast, spoke about the toxic atmosphere created even by some artists in the green room during Eurovision 2024 in Malmo. She characterized as worrying, that for the first time in the history of the competition, some artists did not applaud the others in the green room, while she added that this year’s event damaged the image of Eurovision.

Speaking on theeurotrippodcast, Alexandra Wolfslast described this year’s Eurovision and what happened in Malmö as disturbing and shocking.

“We knew about all the political stresses going on and it had an impact on the Eurovision Song Contest in a way it never had before.

“Eurovision is always political, even if we say it isn’t. For me, it was very shocking because I always thought the Eurovision Song Contest was always a safe zone.

“I always thought the greatest thing ever is that every country gets along with each other – the artists are respecting each other, cheering for each other. That dramatically changed last year.

“Normally when artists come to the green room, everybody is applauding them and all of  sudden, some artists are not applauding other artists – I thought that was really disturbing.

“I really hope that we do whatever we can to make sure this does not happen again. This harmed the brand in my opinion.

Alexandra Wolfslast argues that any political ramifications should be left out of Eurovision, since the contest cannot resolve any political differences that exist.

“We will not solve the geopolitical situation, that will last and we have to live with it.”

The head of the German delegation, blames the artists as well, without naming any of them, for the negative climate that prevailed behind the scenes, but also for the situations that were created and affected the image of the competition. In this direction were also the changes adopted by the EBU for the future of Eurovision, wanting to leave this year in the past and politically sterilizing the venues of the competition to avoid similar situations in the future.

Sertab Erener’s reaction to Israel’s participation in Eurovision 2024

Videos with reactions, as well as statements by Sertab Erener in this year’s participation of Israel – Hurricane with Eden Golan, have been circulating in the last few hours on the internet. The only winner of the competition for Turkey, condemned the participation of Israel, and with her grimaces, when Eden Golan performed her song on the stage of the contest, she showed her emotions.

The first excerpt is from the second semi-final, in which Israel also participated and in which Sertab Erener appeared as a guest, along with Elena Paparizou and Charlotte Perelli. Sertab Erener while preparing for her own performance in the dressing room, listens to Eden Golan perform Hurricane and her expressions are indicative of her feelings.

The second video is from the final. Sertab is watching the contest and at the time of the Israeli participation, she says to the camera that she is completely opposed to the presence of Israel in Eurovision 2025.

The above does not make any impression, since the Turkish government, but also to an overwhelming extent the Turkish society, is in favor even of the terrorist organization Hamas, many of its members, have found safe haven in Turkey. Israel in the previous decades was one of the closest allies with Turkey. However, in recent years and especially since Tayyip Erdoğan has taken over the government of the country, the two countries have drifted far apart, with Israel now having allied relations with Greece and Turkey considering itself the protector of Gaza, but and the terrorists operating there.

Joost Klein: “There is no time to deal with filing a lawsuit against the EBU”

Joost Klein does not intend to take legal action against the EBU, despite initial information to the contrary, the artist’s manager announced. There is no time and space to deal with something like this, was the relevant announcement of the representative of the Dutch artist.

Joost Klein immediately after the Swedish prosecutor’s office dropped his criminal prosecution, due to doubts and insufficient evidence, he had stated through his lawyer that he was considering filing a lawsuit against the EBU.

Joost is the right person to file a police report. Joost’s manager called me and we will think about it.

Gerard Spong, lawyer of Joost Klein

This statement came immediately after the publication of the decision of the Dutch public television – AVROTROS, not to pursue the case in court, but to resolve any pending issues with the EBU through dialogue.

Today, the artist’s manager states that he will not take any other legal action himself, since he has neither the time nor the space to deal with such a thing.

I sent Gerard Spong a quick email thanking him for his interesting take, but to be quite honest, we don’t really have the time or space to work on it right now.

Rick Bakker, manager of Joost Klein

AVROTROS has stated that it will soon meet with the EBU to discuss everything that happened behind the scenes of this year’s competition. So far it has not been clarified whether the country will participate in Eurovision 2025.

The Netherlands: Joost Klein is thinking of suing the EBU!

Joost Klein is considering filing a defamation lawsuit against Eurovision organizer the European Broadcasting Union (EBU). The singer’s manager has already contacted the lawyer Gerard Spong.

The news comes a day after AvroTros had indicated that it did not want to press charges.  The lawyer wrote that it is “absolutely a defamatory allegation” that the EBU, despite the fact that according to the Swedish Public Prosecutor’s Office there is no or insufficient evidence, continues to insist that Joost Klein “would have committed an act worthy of disqualification”.

The fact that AvroTros doesn’t want to create an issue is a sign of weakness according to Spong.

“They must have their reasons for it. They may also have to continue with the EBU next year, so maybe they think: we shouldn’t have any. I think it’s weak.”

“Joost is the right person to file a police report. I’ve been called by Joost’s manager and we’re going to think about it.”

United Kingdom: Initial staging idea for “Dizzy” was rejected by SVT!

The United Kingdom went full throttle with the pop sensation “Dizzy” and the well known Olly Alexander in Eurovision 2024. This impressive staging with special camera movements seems that it was a much simpler presentation than it was originally planned by Olly Alexander’s team, specifically Theo Adams.

Ola Melzig, the Senior Technical Director of Eurovision 2024, spoke to “The Euro Trip Podcast” and mentioned the following about Olly Alexander’s performance:

If the UK hadn’t reached out very early on this year, you wouldn’t have seen that performance.

Their first idea was impossible to do on our stage because we have less than 50 seconds to do a changeover – you can’t show up with something that weighs a tonne and takes two minutes to do.

It appears that the original concept was too big and impractical to implement in time for a live show with a strict schedule, which is why SVT rejected it. Though scaled back to fit Eurovision’s requirements, the concept behind what we actually saw and what was initially planned remained the same.

As a result, Ola Melzig emphasizes the importance of early communication in order to have enough time to adapt and bring the submitted ideas to life as closely as possible to their original state.

Despite the impressive staging, Olly Alexander’s performance was also criticized by the European public for being provocative; thus, he was not awarded a single point from the audience, finish in eighteenth place with a total of 48 points.
