Eurovision 2022: Problem with the on-stage sun!

The Italian news sites report a last minute problem, a few hours after the start of the rehearsals of Eurovision 2022.

According to the two leading Italian newspapers, La Stampa and La Repubblica, there has been a problem with the sun, which would adorn the PalaOlimpico stage.

As it is typically reported in Italian publications, the arches that would compose the rotating sun could not make the entire rotational motion.

As there is a problem in the mechanism of the sun, its movement can be limited and up to a point.

With the time margins narrowing dangerously, the organizers decided to allow the use of the sun, even under limited movement.

This development has provoked the reaction of some delegations, who spent about 30,000 euros for the use of a special LED wall that would be based on the construction of the sun.

We are waiting with great interest, whether the stage presence of the participations based on this construction will be affected and whether it will have an impact on the final result that will appear on the stage of PalaOlimpico.

Eurovision 2022: The spectators at the Pala Olimpico must wear a mask!

Italian Health Minister Roberto Speranza announced on Thursday (April 28th) that the use of the mask will be mandatory indoors until June 15th.

The rule states that the use of the FFP2 mask is mandatory on public transport, in cinemas, in theaters and in all sporting events and competitions that take place indoors to reduce the risk of high transmission of COVID-19 infections.

In restaurants, malls and shops the use of a mask is not mandatory but is recommended.

This means that accredited journalists and the public should wear FFP2 masks during their stay inside the Pala Olimpico.

Mahmood: “If I could help Ukraine win, I would do it”!

Mahmood gave a very interesting interview to Corriere della Sera. The artist, who will be on the stage of Eurovision for the second time, spoke about the chances of Italy for a consecutive victory, the participation of Achille Lauro with San Marino and the possible victory of Ukraine in this year’s competition.

Mahmood considers an impossible back-to-back victory of Italy in Eurovision impossible and compares it with the failure of the national football team to qualify for the finals of the Mundial, after winning Euro 2020.

It is impossible for Italy to win for two consecutive years; even with football it went like this: in 2020 the victory and this year the exclusion.

The popular singer would like Ukraine to be the winner, saying that he would do everything in his power to win the Kalush Orchestra.

If it could help in any way, I would make Ukraine win, twenty Eurovisions could never be worth what is happening in this country.

Commenting on Achile Lauro, Mahmood echoed Blanco’s statements, saying he had not participated in Eurovision again with any country other than Italy.

I like this piece more than the one Lauro competed with at the San Remo Festival. I’m happy to be back in this scene for Italy, even though I thought it would never happen again after I went to the competition with Soldi two years ago.

Mahmood returns to the Eurovision stage with Blanco, with the song Brividi:

Eurovision 2022: Dardust, Benny Benassi + Sophie & The Giants will perform as an interval act in the first semi-final!

After the announcement of Diodato performing in the interval act of the first semi-final, the Italian producers have confirmed another interval act programed for the first semi-final.

The “Dance of Beauty” will see the Pala Olimpico transformed into a giant disco, to celebrate a sound that the Italians have had great success and influence with, outside their own borders  through the years – dance music!

Since the late ‘70s both Italo-Disco and Italian House Music have had a stronghold over dance floors and radio airwaves the world over, with their beats soundtracking the night lives of generations.

Dardust, one of the most successful producers, will perform during the First Semi-Final accompanied by DJ/producer Benny Benassi and British band Sophie and The Giants, with the participation of conductor Sylvia Catasta.

Dardust, known in Italy as Dario Faini, is one of the world’s most popular pianists. His music has accompanied some incredibly international events such as the Superbowl, the NBA All Star Game and the Olympic Games. His influence is known to the fans of Eurovision by the runner-up of the 2019 contest, with “Soldi”which he co-wroted and produced for Mahmood.

Marco ‘Benny’ Benassi is an Italian producer and popular touring DJ who is widely regarded as a pioneer of electro house, a genre arguably brought into the mainstream by his 2002 summer club hit “Satisfaction”. Since then, he has remixed singles by big-hitters like Britney Spears, Katy Perry and Shakira, and produced songs for Madonna, John Legend and, recently, one of our Eurovision Song Contest 2022 hosts, Mika.
