Sweden: Melodifestivalen odds shortly after the announcement of the distribution in the semifinals!

The announcement of the distribution of the artists in the semifinals of Melodifestivalen 2021, as well as the order of their appearance in them, has caused some differences in the bets.

The last place, in the fourth semifinal for Eric Saade, dropped his odds and brought him to the first place, together with Danny Saucedo, who will also appear last, but in the first semifinal. It is common practice for Christer Bjorkman, who decides the order of appearance, to place in the last place of each semifinal, the strongest participations. Tradition wants the last place of the fourth semifinal to always be the big favorite of Melodifestivalen, although last year in this position was Hanna Ferm, who finally took the fourth place in the final.

After Eric Saade and Danny Saucedo, Dotter follows, Tusse and The Mamas close the top five. Charlotte Perrelli is in seventh place.

Danny Saucedo 4.00
Eric Saade 4.00
Dotter 6.50
Tusse 6.50

Melodifestivalen 2021 starts on February 6 with the First Semifinal and ends with the Grand Final that will take place on March 13. 2021 is the last year that Christer Bjorkman is at the helm of Melodifestivalen. He would very much like to achieve Sweden’s seventh victory and tie Queen Ireland.

Sweden: The favorites at Melodifestivalen 2021 according to the first odds!

Yes, you read that right, the odds for the winner of Melodifestivalen 2021 has already started in Sweden. The betting company Svenska Spel gives the first bettings for victory to the 28 artists that were announced a few hours ago on by SVT.

It is a given that in terms of names, Melodifestivalen 2021 is probably the strongest ever. There are five former winners, as well as many other candidates who have left significant successes in this contest.

Many take it for granted that the victory will be judged between Eric Saade and Danny Saucedo, having a repeat of the Melodifestivalen 2011, when Eric managed to prevail with Popular and then give Sweden a third place in the Eurovision Song Contest.

The bets agree with the surrounding atmosphere and have as their favorite the two 30-year-old artists, but giving the lead for the victory this time to Danny Saucedo! Following are the winners of this year’s Melodifestivalen The Mamas, followed by the winner of Pop Idol Tusse and then we meet Dotter and Charlotte Perrelli. The rest of the contestants have much lower odds. In fact, the betting difference between Danny and Eric is quite large.

Odds for Melodifestivalen winner at Svenska Spen, at 20.30 cet, 3/12:

Danny 3,45
Eric 5,50
The Mamas 8,40
Tusse 12,00
Dotter 13,00
Charlotte 17,00
Anton 20,00
Kadiatou 22,00
Paul Rey 22,00
Frida Green 25,00
Arvingarna 25,00
Alvaro 30,00
Emil 30,00
Sannex 40,00
Moustasch 40,00
Efraim 50,00
Patrik 50,00
Nathalie 60,00
Jessica 60,00
Lovad 60,00
Tess 60,00
Elisa 60,00
Lillasyster 75,00
Wahl & Sami 75,00
Klara 75,00
Clara 75,00
Julia 210,00
Eva & Ewa 210,00

Of course, all of the above are too early and reflect the dynamics of these names in the announcement of their candidacy in Melodifestivalen 2021. A lot will change on the way to the final on March 13, but maybe not… However last year, The Mamas were not among the first favorites and yet even with a difference of 1 point, were the ones who were crowned winners in the end!

Sweden: Danny Saucedo Vs Eric Saade in Melodifestivalen 2021!

10 years after Eric Saade and Danny Saucedo were first and second in Melodifestivalen, Aftonbladet reports that they will compete against each other in Melodifestivalen 2021. Read more

Editorial: How fair will the “live on tape video” be for Eurovision 2021?

The announcement of the EBU and the Dutch organizers for the live on tape video that will be made by the 41 participants of Eurovision 2021, although it ensures that the contest will take place even in the worst case scenario regarding the course of the pandemic, but leaves many questions in the part of justice and equal conditions that should govern the competition.

What exactly is live on tape video?

According to what was announced, all participating broadcasters were asked to record a live performance of their entry in their country. This recording will be delivered before the contest and will take place in a studio. The recording will take place in real time (as it would in the Contest) without making changes to the vocals or any part of the show itself after the recording.

There will be freedom in the delegations, to present as they consider their entries better, but instructions will be given which will ensure the fairness and integrity of the competition. There will be no audience and the recording should be unique and not be published before the event in May.

Delegations are allowed to use similar technical capabilities and dimensions that would be available on stage in Rotterdam, but are also free to choose a more limited production facility. Video recordings must not contain augmented or virtual reality, overlays, confetti, drone shots, water, color use or green screen.

How to ensure meritocracy and fairness in the contest?

In addition to the above, the EBU also announced a series of safety valves, which will ensure that the 41 live video tapes will have been made under the same conditions. Indicatively, we mention that those present in the video recording will be a representative of the Dutch public broadcaster, while the shooting will be watched by the executive supervisor of the contest, as well as a representative from an independent voting observer (E&Y). The duration of the shooting will be one hour and at this time the participants will be able to videotape up to three times their appearance. The selection of the shot will be made by the Head of Delegation and another authorized representative.

Our doubts about live on tape video

First of all, let’s say that even under normal conditions, not everyone competes on equal terms. What do we mean by that? We see in recent years on the eurovision stage, impressive appearances, with the help of the use of technology. Technology that not all broadcasters can use. Fro example Serbian public broadcaster cannot spend the money that Swedish public broadcaster spends. Albanian television cannot spend the money spent by Russian or Azerbaijani television and so on.

So, many times the countries participating in the contest can start from different points of view, but what mitigates the above a bit is that they share the same stage and it is ensured that everyone sings live. With the advancement of technology, and given that each country can use any studio it wants, even that is in question.

We read that Russia uses virtual reality in its appearance for Junior Eurovision 2020, where the contest will take place via live on tape video. An effect that other countries probably will not have at their disposal, for economic and technical reasons.

Of course for the live on tape videos of Eurovision 2021 the EBU has banned such special effects. However, LEDs are not prohibited and it is possible for different sized scenes, something that, as you understand, will differentiate the final result.

What we all hope is that everything you read remains on a theoretical level only. The situation with the pandemic to improve and to have a Eurovision as close to normal as possible, with the 41 artists performing their songs on the stage of the Ahoy Arena!

What is your opinion about the live on tape video? Are equal conditions guaranteed for all?

Eurovision 2021: Participants will record their songs “live-on-tape” to ensure Contest will happen!

The EBU recently revealed how to ensure that Eurovision 2021 will happen, even in the worst case scenario with the course of the coronary pandemic.

Eurovision 2021 will take place in every way

After yesterday’s announcement that the distribution of countries in the two semifinals remains the same as that of Eurovision 2020, but also the presentation of the four possible scenarios for the conduct of Eurovision 2021, now another detail is given, concerning scenario D. In the new announcement of the EBU, concern the case in which in May the situation with the pandemic will be such that it will not allow air travel and reconnaissance, having a contest as Junior Eurovision 2020 will happen in a few days . With video appearances of the participants!

What is the process

All participating broadcasters were asked to record a live performance of their entries in their country. This recording will be delivered before the contest and will take place in a studio. The recording will take place in real time (as it would in the contest) without making changes to the vocals or any part of the show itself after the recording.

There will be freedom in the delegations, to present as they consider their participations better, but instructions will be given which will ensure the fairness and integrity of the competition.

How will it be fair?

Normally in the Eurovision Song Contest all the artists would appear on the same stage under the same conditions giving everyone the same opportunity to shine. For the live recordings, the Reference Group of the Eurovision Song Contest approved additional measures to guarantee the fairness of the contest.

Prior to the recording, each participating broadcaster will meet with a representative from Host Broadcasters and submit a recording session schedule, studio setup and camera schedule.

The Head of Delegation will be on site during the registration period of 60 minutes and up to three authorized expirations, either alone or with an appropriate mandate, to make the final decision on the selection of the final receipt (from three).

A live link will be created during the recording to allow the Eurovision Executive Supervisor and a representative from an independent voting observer (E&Y) and Host Broadcaster to monitor the recording, provide assistance and support, and ensure the integrity and fairness of the contest.

No videos of the appearances from the national finals can be submitted, but each country can record on the same stage. The “live-on-tape” recordings must be delivered by the end of March.

Of course, as we mentioned at the beginning of the article, all of the above will apply in the case of contestants who will not be able to attend Rotterdam in May. The 65th Eurovision Song Contest will take place anyway!

Sweden: Eric Saade near his return to Melodifestivalen | Two more names confirmed!

An artist who has been a target of Christer Bjorkman almost every year, seems to be thinking seriously this year. We are referring, of course, to Eric Saade, who in 2011 took third place in the Eurovision Song Contest with Popular. But two more names confirm their participation. These are Arvingarna, but also Paul Rey.

Eric Saade returns to Melodifestivalen

The production team of Melodifestivalen would love Eric Saade and tried to persuade him to participate again this year, but without success. In 2021 things are easier. In fact, a person close to the artist states that it is most likely that we will see him competing in Melodifestivalen 2021. Another Aftonbladet source claims that he has not decided yet, although he has a very strong song in his hands.

If Eric Saade finally says yes, it will be his fourth participation in the Melodifestivalen, which as we said above he won in 2011, then representing Sweden in Eurovision. He was the presenter of the Green Room at Eurovision 2013, in Malme, while he was also the presenter of the Melodifestivalen.

Sweden: The first names for Melodifestivalen 2021!

Yesterday, the Swedish newspaper Aftonbladet gave us the names of the first participants in Melodifestivalen 2021. We use the word “participants” because during the last years the information from Aftonbladet regarding the participants is almost accurate. For Melodifestivalen 2020, for instance, the paper predicted 23 of the 24 participants. The first three names that we will see at Melodifestivalen 2021 are Tusse Chiza, Sannex and Sami Rekik & Wahl.

Tusse

Tusse Chiza is 18 years old from the DR Congo and the winner of last year’s Idol. Christer Björkman as a guest judge at the time had made very positive comments about his talent and performance, so his participation comes as no surprise. “I’m waiting for you at the Melodifestivalen whenever you want,” Christer Björkman told him. During the summer Tusse participated in various songwriting camps looking for the song with which he will participate in Melodifestivalen 2021. Apart from Tusse himslef, Christer Bjöorkman was also looking for a song for Tusse.

Sannex

The Grammy awarded band Sannex will also be among the nominees for Melodifestivalen 2021. The Sannex were awarded a Grammy in 2017 for the Best Dance Band of the Year, and have received several other awards along the way.

Sami Rekik & Wahl

Two solo artists are joining their forces for Melodifestivalen 2021. Sami Rekik is 42 years old from Tunisia and part of the group Medina and Wahl ( full name Christopher Vahlberg) is 34 years old from Sweden and part of the group Södrasidan. The song with which the plan to take part will be a pop one with a structure that express the personal music style of both artists.

The full list of participants is expected to be revealed by the end of November.
