Germany: 693 songs submitted for “Das Deutsche Finale 2024”

On Sunday, October 15, the entry period for “Deutsche Finale 2024”, the national competition through which the German representative for the upcoming Eurovision contest will be chosen, came to a close.

The German broadcaster NDR reports that 693 proposals in total were submitted. In particular, 475 solo singers, 71 duets and 127 bands aspire to participate on the German national selection. Information on the upcoming stages of the evaluation as well as the final list of songs that will compete on February 18 will be released soon.

This year, interested artists also had the option of submitting proposals by sharing their song on TikTok with the hashtag #UnserLiedFürLiverpool. Over 900 videos were published, several of which were not considered serious proposals.

Greek-German singer Melissa Mantzoukis is one of the artists who submitted for the German national final. Melissa gained popularity in Germany, through her participation in Idol 2022 . This year, she attempted to represent Greece in the competition with the song “Liar,” but she ultimately did not manage to do so even though the 70-member audience committee gave her a solid first-place ranking. The information we have indicates that the song she submitted to NDR has nothing to do with her participation this year.

Germany was represented this year by Lord of the Lost and the song “Blood and Glitter”. The band, which is well-known in Germany, came in last place overall, with a total of 18 points. Will Germany be able to recover from its string of poor results and move to the left side of the leaderboard?

Germany: The Eurovision 2000 winner submitted an entry for “Das Deutsche Finale 2024”!

Jørgen Olsen, one of the Eurovision 2000 winners for Denmark, plans to compete in the competition once more this year, but this time as Germany’s representative.

The singer particularly submitted a song in collaboration with German vocalist Alexandra Hofmann. In fact, the latter stated that she had pushed Jørgen to make this decision.

The deadline for submission of applications for the “Das Deutsche Finale 2024”, the national final through which Germany’s entry for the upcoming competition will be selected, ended last week. The songs are currently in the evaluation stage.

Along with his brother Niels, Jørgen Olsen represented Denmark in the 2000 Eurovision, winning the first place with 195 points. Since then, he has attempted to return in the contest twice, in 2005 and 2007, without however achieving it. Would you like to see Jørgen Olsen return to Eurovision ?

Germany: The participations highlights of Das deutsche Finale 2024 through TikTok!

The exact role the public broadcaster NDR’s official TikTok account will play remains murky.

Although there was an official mention of the platform in the first official press briefing for the German final, it is still up to the participants to publicize their entries on TikTok with the hashtag #EurovisionGermany2024. Of course, this does not exclude the use of other social networks such as YouTube, where there is already enough material available. It is important to mention that the participants are officially committed only through eurovision.de. For this reason, there will probably be no voting through the popular platform this year.

Below you can watch some candidates who have posted material with the relevant hashtag #EurovisionGermany2024.

Germany: Extended deadline for submissions and the first artists

The deadline for submitting applications for “Das Deutsche Finale 2024”, the national competition through which the country’s representative for the upcoming Eurovision contest will be chosen, has been extended, according to an official announcement from Germany’s public broadcaster NDR. Consequently, prospective artists now have until October 15 to submit their suggestions as opposed to the initial deadline of October 5.

The rest of the rules, which are covered in our pertinent article, remain unchanged.

Furthermore, the first potential artists have been revealed:

Melissa Mantzoukis

Greek-German singer Melissa Mantzoukis, gained popularity in Germany as a result of her participation in Idol 2022. She attempted to represent Greece in the contest this year with the song “Liar,” which she did not manage to do, despite receiving a strong first-place rating from the audience committee of 70 people. The song that she submitted to NDR, based on what we know, has nothing to do with her participation this year.

ALLY

Allison Bonnefoy, better known as Ally, has already tried her hand at the Eurovision stage, through her participation in the Austrian national final in 2015. Her most recent works are electronic in nature, such as “Humanity,” which is also one of her entries for “Das Deutsche Finale 2024”.

Apollson

Apollson is a rising star in the German music industry who has found considerable success on streaming services. In a video posted on TikTok a few days ago, he expressed interest in participating in this year’s German selection process by using the hashtag #EurovisionGermany2024.

Florian Suerie / ARTISTWITHOUTANAME

Florian Suerie recently announced his interest in entering the competition by sharing an acoustic version of his potential proposal on his personal Facebook page. The song has currently been recorded in both English and German, but it has not yet been released in its final form.

Spielhagen

The 14-member choir Spielhagen has taken the tagline “Club meets Choir” and specializes in performing disco music. The song “Love On The Dancefloor (Oh Lala Love)” was recorded by six of them and serves as their proposal for “Das Deutsche Finale 2024”.

Germany: Two new potential candidates for Das Deutsche Finale 2024!

A few days ago we posted an article (here) regarding the artists who have already expressed their intention to take part in Das Deutsche Finale 2024, the show through which Germany is going to pick their next representative at the 2024 Eurovision Song Contest in Malmö, Sweden.

Two new names are joining the list of the potential candidates who are interested in representing Germany. The first new name is Aileen Sager, who is a personal choice of the prominent composer and songwriter Ralph Siegel. Ralph Siegel has already expressed his desire to submit an entry in the German selection process. Apart from that, it has been 50 years since his first participation in Eurovision and 42 years since his victory with Nicole who performed “Ein bißchen Frieden” and he wants to participate once again in this international contest.

Aileen Sager was a semi-finalist in the German franchise of Idol, Deutschland sucht den Superstar” and she revealed via her personal Instagram account that her music collaboration with Ralph Siegel is focused on the pop genre. However their Eurovision proposal is not finished yet and for this reason Ralph Siegel spends a lot of time at the recording studio.

The second name that may compete to represent Germany is the musical duo Tilly Electronics who want to go to Eurovision 2024 in Malmö with the song “Tanzen”. This music duo makes electronic music, comes from Leipzig and keeps its identity hidden under its black and white suits. Tilly Electronics’ application has been the subject of much debate in recent days on social media – with much encouragement, but also some potential for polarisation.

What do you think of these two potentials for Das Deutsche Finale 2024? Let us know your thoughts in the comments below.
