A New Year Full of Announcements

According to journalist Giannis Poulopoulos on the show Super Katerina, ERT plans to announce the 12 national finalists immediately following the holiday season, at the beginning of the new year.

As per the rules outlined by ERT for the national final, the chosen 12 artists will be given a reasonable period to make adjustments to their songs and finalize their production, should they wish to do so.

This timeline aligns with the scheduled date of the national final on January 29, meaning the announcement of the 12 finalists is expected to take place within the first ten days of January.

Twelve Songs, One Mission

Twelve songs will compete in the national final, selected by a special ERT committee from a record-breaking 187 submissions spanning various musical genres. The reveal of the finalists is anticipated to heighten excitement and anticipation for the big night.

Public Voting Alongside International and Greek Panels

For the first time, the voting process will incorporate input from both the public and a panel of international experts, aiming to deliver a balanced and representative outcome. Fans will have the opportunity to support their favorite song, while expert panels will lend their insights to ensure the best choice is made.

The final outcome will be determined by the following breakdown:

  • 50% public vote
  • 25% international jury
  • 25% Greek expert jury

A National Final to Set the Standard

Greece: ERT’s participation fee for Eurovision 2025!

The fee that ERT is going to pay for the Eurovision Song Contest 2025, which will take place in Basel, Switzerland on May 13, 15 and 17, has been approved.

According to Diavgeia, the financial participation fee that ERT will pay for Greece‘s participation in the 69th Eurovision Song Contest has been approved. The total amount is €143,243 and includes the costs of participation and broadcasting Eurovision.

The above amount does not concern other participation expenses, such as tickets, hotel accommodation, production costs, staging, etc.

This amount is different for each participating country and is based on quantitative criteria, one of which is population. In fact, the countries that pay the highest fees (United Kingdom, Spain, Italy, France, Germany) make up the Big 5 and therefore have the right to directly qualify for the grand final.

The fee for 2025 is lower than that for Eurovision 2024, which amounted to 176,647.20 euros.

Marina Satti on the yawn incident: “The answer given regarding safety did not satisfy me”

Marina Satti gave her first television interview following Eurovision 2024, where she achieved 11th place for Greece with her song ZARI. She appeared on MEGA’s The Big Picture with Niki Lymberaki. As expected, Marina was asked about the infamous yawn during the press conference after the Second Semi-Final, which occurred while Israel’s representative, Eden Golan, was speaking.

Addressing the Incident

Marina Satti reflected on the controversial moment, admitting she never anticipated that it would gain such widespread attention, something she only realized the following day.

Without offering a definitive explanation, Satti clarified once again that her yawn was unrelated to the ongoing events in Gaza or her personal views on the matter. She elaborated that, at the moment of her yawn, a response was being given (presumably by Eden, though she did not name her) regarding the safety of artists in the competition. According to Satti, this response did not satisfy her.

“I could have been smarter and more cautious… A very specific question was posed at that time by a journalist. It was about safety. The response given did not satisfy me. Backstage, there was military presence and security personnel. I can’t know all the details, but the atmosphere was tense. I would not have addressed the issue (regarding Gaza) in that way. I don’t want my words or actions to be misinterpreted. I should have been more cautious.”

Does She Regret It?

When asked by Niki Lymberaki whether she regrets the incident, Satti appeared to have mixed feelings:

“I can’t say whether I regret it. It was a very honest reaction on my part. I regret and feel sorry for all those around me whom I may have inconvenienced, people who supported and trusted me.”

Her Position on the Middle East Crisis

Finally, when asked about her stance on the ongoing conflict in the Middle East, Marina Satti expressed a universal sentiment:

“My opinion is that I don’t want people to die, to be kidnapped, or for blood to be shed. That’s the view of any human being. Who wants people, especially children, to die?”

Greece: 31 more artists prepare for ERT’s National Final

Today, we present the third part of the list of artists who have confirmed their intention to participate in ERT’s national final for Eurovision 2025. This will likely be the last part of the interested artists’ presentation, as the detailed rules of the national final and the submission process for entries are expected to be announced soon.

Once again, our list includes well-known and established artists, as well as many newcomers who are not as familiar to the public.

Giorgos Giannias needs no introduction. He has carved out his own path in the Greek music industry. His distinctive voice has given us many beloved songs. He told us that he would be very interested in Eurovision, especially with a ballad that has something meaningful to say.

Tasos Xiarcho frequently grabs media attention with his statements. He won J2US, and since then, many have hoped to see him participate in Eurovision. Tasos confirmed both to us and through his social media that he will submit his entry to ERT for the national final.

We previously mentioned Markella in a separate article. We could say she is following in Amanda’s footsteps, as both are based in Norway. However, Markella blends Greek elements into her work.

The Horostalites, who reached the final three of the 2018 national selection, which was never held, informed us that they are back in the studio and are open to submitting their entry to ERT once again.

The list is rounded out by artists who started their careers through talent shows and TikTok, alongside those who have long been active in the music scene. In detail:
