Greece: The repsonse of the President of ERT to the “Nea” article!

The President of ERT, Constantinos Zoulas, in his reply sent to us a few minutes ago, responds to what the Ambassador of Cyprus in Athens allegedly attributed to him during their meeting, in fact attributing a different content to their discussion, from the one in which is revealed in the “Nea” newspaper.

The Management of ERT did not and apparently is not allowed to have the slightest involvement in the evaluations of the independent jury proposed every year by the Communication Department of ERT for the Eurovision Song Contest. Therefore, it had no involvement both in the first place that Cyprus got from the independent jury of ERT in 2021, and in last year’s evaluation of the Cypriot participation as the 7th best among 26 countries. This is what I explained to the ambassador of Cyprus at our pre-quarterly meeting, – of course on the sidelines of the much more serious issues we discussed – by telling him that those involved in ERT with Eurovision were surprised by CyBC’s decision to represent Cyprus this year with one of the songs that ERT rejected last year. And in this context, I wished that the judgment of this year’s independent jury appointed by ERT would not be the same as the one that rejected the song in question, without anyone – let alone me personally – being able to influence its judgment. Having expressed my great surprise at the fact that the Eurovision Song Contest was the subject of diplomatic information, and indeed at a time when ERT and CyBC have excellent cooperation, I wish great success both to Cyprus and Greece.

With the actual denial of the publication on the part of Constantinos Zoulas, and of the Cypriot Ambassador, you now realize that the continuation of this story is expected to be even more interesting.

We remind you that tomorrow morning the response of CyBC through the head of the country’s delegation to the competition, Ms. Evi Papamichael, is expected.

Croatia: Zagreb ready to host Eurovision 2025!

Baby Lasagna has managed to bring Croatia back in the limelight and the Croatian fans’ interest in the Eurovision Song Contest has skyrocketed.

Just yesterday, the mayor of Zagreb, Tomislav Tomasevic, was asked on reddit whether Zagreb can host Eurovision.

(Zagreb) is totally ready! The arena is already booked. Fingers crossed for Baby Lasagna to win in Sweden and Zagreb will help HRT with production and organization in every way.

At the same time people are dancing to the rhythm of Rim Tim Tagi Dim in five Croatian cities,. It is now one of the most popular dances and there is no one who has not danced it. The dances are being filmed in order to create an impressive video. As Maja Tokić and Tomislav Štengl (head of the Croatian delegation to Eurovision) pointed out:

We’ve been in all the cities with cameras, in every location, so we’re going to make a fantastic video out of it. Croatia is united again, this time not because of football, this time because of a wonderful boy from Umag and his whole team. We moved into first place and were first for a long time, and now we are second for a long time,

Baby Lasagna also appeared on Dutch TV and specifically on Beau van Erven Dorens’ show performing his song.

Croatia will appear in the First Semi-Final of Eurovision 2024 on May 7 in the seventh place.

What are the “Interval Acts”?

“Interval Acts” are performances that serve the flow of the contest. They are outside the competitive process and take place after the completion of the appearances of the participating countries and before the announcement of the results.

Petra Mede is considered a fan-favourite. It is no coincidence that Swedish public television chose her to host the contest for the third time in just eleven years.

Many fans rank Interval Acts, which Petra participated in both 2013 and 2016, among the best moments in the history of the competition. Consequently, expectations for Petra’s show are very high!

Will Helena Paparizou be Greece’s Eurovision 2024 spokesperson?

With fifty years having passed since Greece’s first Eurovision participation, many people assumed Helena Paparizou would be somehow involved in this year’s contest. Of course, Greece’s one and only winner, could not be absent from this year’s project.

Indeed, prior to Marina Satti’s selection, Helena Paparizou received an offer to represent Greece in this year’s competition, based on information that has come to light. Simultaneously, ERT wanted the singer to play a major part in the anniversary show celebrating Greece’s half-century participation in Eurovision.

Since the aforementioned projects were not carried out, Helena Paparizou reportedly accepted the public television’s proposal and will be the one to announce the Greek jury’s twelve points in this year’s competition, according to information obtained from Newpost.

This information has yet to be confirmed by ERT. Would you like Helena Paparizou to announce the Greek jury’s twelve points in Eurovision 2024?

Spain: Nebulossa releases “ZORRA” Remix

Nebulossa, Spain‘s representatives at this year’s Eurovision Song Contest, released an alternate version of their Eurovision song, less than a month before their departure for Malmö.

Specifically, the Spanish representatives released the remix of “ZORRA” , in collaboration with the songwriter Gloria Trevi.

Nebulossa stated that participating in the Eurovision Song Contest is a dream for them, which they attempted to fulfil last year by participating in San Marino’s national selection, without managing to win the ticket to Liverpool. But this year, after winning the Benidorm Fest, the competition through which the Spanish entry is selected, they were able to secure the title of Spain’s representatives.

Australia: Electric Fields speak about their preparations for Eurovision 2024!

The Guardian spoke with Australia‘s representatives for the 2024 Eurovision Song Contest, which will take place in May in Malmö, Sweden, regarding their participation in the competition. Less than a month before rehearsals begin, Electric Fields, who will perform the song One Milkali (One Blood) live at Malmö Arena, dropped some clues about their onstage perfromance.

The band members first shared some information regarding their performance on the Eurovision stage, emphasising that connecting the audience with the song’s message is their top priority.

Finding connections between the lyrics and the outfits, as well as between the audience and the performance, is a lot of fun for us.

The band also stressed the value of advancing their culture. Given this, they made the decision to incorporate Yankunytjatjara, an Aboriginal language, into their song. The band members stated the following in relation to this decision:

Even though our people have been degraded by their own nation, we are incredibly proud. We resemble a resurrected phoenix. Let’s proceed as a team. Australia will accept us. We just feel very happy and ready to prove what we want to prove.

They concluded by discussing their thoughts about competing in Eurovision. The band has attempted to perform on the competition stage previously. In 2019, they finished second in the Australian national final, with the song “2000 and Whatever”.

This is a big deal for us. We always had the hope that we could influence the world, even in the slightest positive way

Electric Fields will be performing 13th, in the first semi-final on May 7th.

Switzerland: “We are ready to host Eurovision 2025” says the head of delegation!

Switzerland could become the venue for Eurovision Song Contest 2025, according to Yves Schifferle, head of delegation of the SRF, to the Contest. We remind you that Nemo represents the country in this year’s Competition and is currently the top favourite to win.

Yves Schifferle expressed enthusiasm for the course of “The Code” in the betting odds, but remains reserved:

The whole team is really happy about this support, it gives us a boost. It’s still five weeks until the competition and a lot can change before then. We are now concentrating on the performance, rehearsing and still have a lot to do before Malmö”

In addition, he revealed that initial discussions have already begun for a possible event hosting next year, saying:

We will contact cities that could potentially host the ESC. Cities with large halls and good infrastructure are eligible, for example Zurich, Bern, Geneva, Lausanne or Basel.”

In the end, he referred to the high costs involved in such a large event:

A strong partner city is needed that undertakes a significant portion of the costs and services. You also receive a financial contribution from the EBU (European Broadcasting Union) and ticket and sponsorship is generated.Producing the biggest music show in the world has a big impact on budget and resources. However, other broadcasters in Europe faced similar challenges and found ways to finance this major event.”

The statements of the Swiss head of delegation show that Switzerland wants and is ready to achieve their third victory after their last one back in 1988 with Céline Dion and the song “Ne partez pas sans moi”.

Nemo is going to participate in the fourth spot of the Second Semi-Final of 9th of May.
