Belgium: All the latest updates of Eurosong 2025

Belgium is getting into Eurovision mode, as in less than a month, we will find out who will represent the country in May in Basel, Switzerland.

Specifically, as announced, the first episodes of Eurosong 2025, the Belgian competition that selects the country’s Eurovision representative each year, will be aired on January 18 and 25, hosted by Peter Van de Veire. In these two episodes, four participants will present their songs without staging, just performing them. Additionally, they will be asked to choose and perform a cover of any past Eurovision song they wish.

Participants:

The first episode, on January 18, will feature Grace, LEEZ, Le Manou and Lenn. The second episode, on January 25, will host Jelle van Dael, Mentissa, Stefanie Callebaut and Red Sebastian.

The episodes have already been recorded in December 2024. The eight songs competing in Eurosong 2025 will be released after the second episode, on January 25.

The final of Eurosong 2025 will take place on February 1. The winner, who will receive the coveted ticket to represent Belgium at Eurovision 2025, will be chosen through a combination of public and jury voting.

Last year, Belgium was represented at Eurovision 2024 by Mustii with the song “Before the Party’s Over.” Unfortunately, he did not qualify for the grand final, finishing in 13th place in the second semi-final with 18 points, the country’s worst result since 2019.

Belgium: Gustaph unveils Eurovision staging details

Belgium’s representative Gustaph has set in train his intense preparations for the 2023 contest as he explicitly states in Liverpoolecho:

“I can’t tell you too much but when we first saw the stage, I knew we had to make something much more dynamic than what we did in Belgium. It’s going to be different. The idea of static stairs won’t be there anymore and there will be much more interaction with the visuals and the performance as well. Adding to that, we’re now going to have three backing vocalists. The song is written from a gospel perspective so three voices are going to make it bigger than it already is.”

In the interview, Gustaph cites Eurovision 1998 UK’s entry Where are you now? by Imaani as one of his all-time favorite Eurovision performances,as the song’s strong house-music elements and “deep lyricism” played a determining role in his turning into a Eurovision aficionado.

Last weekend,Gustaph made an appearance in RTL’s show Humberto in order to promote his 2023 entry called “Because of You”.The show, which aired on RTL4, received quite a positive response from the audience as it was watched by an average of 488,000 viewers and even reached a high of 1.400.o00 viewers throughout the course of its broadcast.

Gustaph was chosen to represent Belgium after having being crowned the winner of  Eurosong 2023,Belgium’s first national final in seven years.Despite the fact that he did not manage to win the televote, the jury’s votes were more than enough to give him the golden ticket to Liverpool. However,he is already familiar with the Eurovision stage,as he was a backing vocalist both for Sennek (2018) and Hooverphonic (2021).

Gustaph is going to sing his song “Because of You” in the first half of the second semi-final in this year’s Eurovision, scheduled to take place on May 11.

What do you think of Belgium’s entry?Could the performance be impactful enough to bring Belgium back in the top 10 after 6 whole years?

Ammerah: I love the Eurovision Community | Exclusive Interview

After the announcement of her participation in this year’s national final of Belgium, Eurosong 2023, Ameerah gave an exclusive interview to EurovisionFun‘s Paschalis.

Ameerah is among the finalists of this year’s Eurosong and will try to represent her country at Eurovision 2023 with one of her two songs, “The Carnival” and “Armageddon“.

Preselecties voor het Eurovisiesongfestival 2023 in Liverpool. Wie gaat voor België naar het Eurovisiesongfestival?

I was born in Belgium and I have been living in the US for the last ten years. I write music for other artists and myself.

I hadn’t realised that people outside Belgium knew my song (The Sound of Missing You) and I was surprised to listen to it in other countries!

I’d like to come sing in Greece since I’ve never been there!

Thanks to a friend who is a singer and actor who told me that there was a call for songs. I love Eurovision and decided to participate! I worked with Zach Poor and Morgan Taylor Reid, we sent the songs and they were selected!

About her two songs

They were written for Eurovision. Eurovision isn’t that known in America, so I showed them videos of past winners so that we could create a song that would convince everyone within three minutes.

It’s hard to choose a song. Carnival is an earworm, while Armageddon is something different, it starts as a ballad and afterwards it goes to a completely different direction. If I myself had to choose I wouldn’t be able to do it!

You are going to see a lot of wow-factor!

About the other Eurosong participants

I like a lot of songs! When we listened to the other artists’ songs they were all good. No matter who wins, we are going to have a very good song at Eurovision this year!

Her favorite past Eurovision entries

Sandra Kim since she won! I also like Loic Nottet, Tom Dice and Jeremie Makiese as well.

Euphoria for sure, ABBA’s Waterloo and Volare.

I’d love to collaborate with ABBA who are legends, though I know that this is impossible.

Her message to Eurovisionfun

I love the Eurovision Community! You are die-hard fans, you look for the voice, the act, how everything looks and for me as an artist that’s what’s all about! Thank you for your love and I hope to meet you soon!

We would like to thank Ameerah and wish her luck in her Eurovision Journey that has just begun!
