Ukraine: The Diia app crashed | Voting for Vidbir 2024 will be extended!

Tonight and since 17:00 CET, Vidbir 2024, the Ukrainian national selection takes place. Three and a half hours in, following the conclusion of all the performances, both the participants’ and guests’, the hosts along with the participants and the judges moved their set to a shelter.

While we were all awaiting for the results, the hosts informed us that the Diia app, via which the public votes for its selection favorites, crashed. Specifically, the platform was down for a considerable amount of time, so the voting shall be resumed in order to have a valid result.

The production team is trying its best to bring back the platform, while the judges along with the participants share their stories. We hope that the problem will be resolved quickly and we have a valid result!

Ukraine: today the final of Vidbir 2024!

The first favourite to win the 68th Eurovision Song Contest, Ukraine, today chooses its representative for Eurovision 2024.

The Eastern European country, which would love nothing more than to win its fourth victory in its 20-year presence in the contest, promises a unique national final, with intense emotions.

Final

Eleven artists will perform on the Vidbir stage tonight, aiming for the victory that will also mean Ukraine’s representation at Eurovision 2024. These artists are as follows:

  2. INGRET — «Keeper»
  3. NAZVA — «Slavic English»
  4. ANKA — «Палала»
  5. Drevo — «Endless chain»
  6. alyona alyona & Jerry Heil — «Teresa & Maria»

  9. Ziferblat — «Place I Call Home»
  10. YAGODY — «Tsunamia»
  11. NAHABA — «GLASSS»

The grand winner of the Ukrainian national final and Ukraine‘s representative in the 68th Eurovision Song Contest will be determined 50% by the will of Ukrainian viewers and 50% by the jury’s vote. In the context of Vidbir 2024, the jury is composed of three of the biggest names on the Ukrainian scene. They are:

  • Andriy Danylko / VERKA SERDUCHKA – Representative of Ukraine at Eurovision 2007,
  • Jamala – Winner of the Eurovision Song Contest 2016 as well as the “Outstanding Artist Leadership Award” from the Atlantic Council of the United States in 2022,
  • Serhiy Tanchynets – singer, musician, producer and leader of the rock band BEZ LIMITATIONS.

Tonight’s hosts will be Timur Miroshnychenko, Julia Sanina and stand-up comedian Vasyl Baidak. The first two are particularly familiar faces in the Eurovision world, as Miroshnychenko has been one of the hosts of Eurovision 2017, which took place in Kiev, as well as a commentator for the contest since 2007, while Sanina was one of the hosts of last year’s contest in Liverpool.

The Ukrainian national final starts at 17:00 CET and is expected to last around four hours. You can watch it with English commentary through the Ukrainian public TV YouTube channel by clicking HERE.

The previous winners of Vidbir and, subsequently, the country’s representatives at Eurovision 2023, were TVORCHI with their song “Heart of Steel“, with which they placed sixth in the final ranking.

Ukraine: These are the hosts of Vidbir 2024!

The Ukrainian broadcaster UA:PBC unveiled the hosts of Vidbir 2024. Timur Miroshnychenko, Yuliya Sanina and the stand-up comedian Vasyl Baidak will host the big final.

Timur Miroshnychenko and Yuliya Sanina are no strangers to Eurovision fans.

Timur presented the Eurovision Song Contest in 2017 alongside Oleksandr Skichko and Volodymyr Ostapchuk. Also, he has been covering Eurovision commentary-wise since 2007 and hosted the Junior Eurovision of 2009 and 2013 that took place in Ukraine.

Yuliya Sanina is the frontwoman of the band The HARDKISS and was one of the hosts of last year’s contest in Liverpool.

Anna Tulyeva, the presenter of the videoblog Eurovision Ukraine, will host the backstage and the pre-show of the ukrainian national selection.

We remind you that Vidbir 2024 is set to air on February 3rd at 18:00 CET, live on the UA public TV channel (UA:First). The result will be determined by 50% of public voting and 50% of jury voting.

Ukraine: The voting for Vidbir 2024 jurors has begun!

Vidbir will be used as Ukraine’s national Eurovision selection format in 2024. Following the announcement of the eleven finalists, the voting process for the three jury members who will determine fifty percent of the total outcome has just begun.

Specifically, UA:PBC, Ukraine’s national broadcaster, began the voting a few hours ago in order to determine which judges the audience wants on the national final jury. Hence, the decision of who will consist the national selection’s jury is up to the public. Moreover, the choice will be made among the following nine music specialists, while the list includes three former Eurovision contestants:

  1. Oleksandr Varenytsia (PR specialist, co-founder of Go West, an agency for the promotion of Ukrainian music on the international market)
  2. Andriy Danylko – VERKA SERDUCHKA (Representative of Ukraine at Eurovision 2007)
  3. Jamala (Eurovision 2016 Winner)
  4. Olena Koliadenko (choreographer)
  5. Kateryna Pavlenko – Member of GO_A  (Representative of Ukraine at Eurovision 2020 and 2021)
  6. Serhiy Tanchynets (singer, musician, producer and leader of the rock band BEZ LIMITATIONS.)
  7. Yevhen Triplov (writer and music producer)
  8. Yevhen Khmara (Composer, Jury Member of Ukraine at Eurovision 2023)
  9. Pavlo Shilko (TV and radio presenter, known as DJ Pasha)

The voting window is now open and will remain open for one week, until January 22 at 10:00 a.m. The three candidates who will receive the most votes will form the jury for the Ukrainian selection. In case one of the three voted is unable to sign the agreement for legitimate reasons, the candidate with the next highest number of votes will replace him in the jury panel.

Vidbir 2024

We remind you that the national final of Ukraine for the Eurovision Song Contest 2024 will be held on February 03 at 18:00 CET, live on the UA public TV channel (UA:First). The result will be decided both by the TV audience and the expert jury, on a 50-50 proportion.

Ukraine: Vidbir songs to be unveiled from January 12th!

The competing entries in the Ukrainian National Preselection Process, Vidbir, are scheduled to be released from the 12th January onwards.The list of the 12 hopefuls competing for the golden ticket to the Eurovision Song Contest 2024 in Sweden, is the following:

  • ANKA – “Palala” – Winner of Wildcard
  • alyona alyona & Jerry Heil – “Teresa & Maria”
  • Drevo – “Endless chain” – Release on January 12
  • INGRET – “Keeper” – Release on January 15
  • MÉLOVIN – “DREAMER” – Release on January 12
  • NAHABA – “GLASSS”
  • NAZVA – “Slavic English” – Release on January 12
  • SKYLERR – “Time is running out”
  • YAGODY — “Tsunamia”
  • YAKTAK — “Lalala”

The preselection process,which consists of both public and jury votes,is scheduled to take place on the 3rd of February.The entrant with the most points at the end of the voting process will fly to Malmö to compete against the other countries’ representatives.

In 2023,Ukraine reached the 6th place with Tvorchi and their song “Heart of Steel”.

Ukraine: ANKA wins the online voting for the wildcard of Vidbir 2024!

A few minutes ago, the Ukrainian national broadcaster UA:PBC unveiled the winner of the online voting who receives the eleventh ticket for Vidbir’s 2024 Final.

The artist who won the online voting and ultimately got the wildcard is ANKA, with her song «Палала», receiving 80.944 votes and a percentage of 26,78%.

The public online voting took place from the 15th until the 21st of December and during that time period, more than 300.000 Ukrainian people cast their vote.

 

It is reminded that the 11 artists who will compete at Vidbir 2024 are the following:

The eleven songs that have qualified for the final will go public early in the new year, except for ANKA’s song which has already been published.

The final of Vidbir 2024 will take place on the 3rd of February 2024. The winner will be chosen via the voting of both jury and the public. Moreover, the public will vote in order to decide the members of the aforementioned jury.

Last year’s Vidbir winners who had the opportunity to represent the nation at the Eurovision Song Contest 2023 were TVORCHI with “Heart of Steel” and they managed to end up 6th.

The Ukrainian broadcasting company, UA:PBC, has opened the voting for the wildcard of Vidbir 2024,the country’s preselection process for the Eurovision 2024 entrant.The songs of the nine artists participating in the online voting are already available on the broadcaster’s YouTube channel.

The 9 artists taking part in the voting process are the following:

  2. Carpetman — «Endless fight»
  3. KARYOTYPE — «Sadness»
  4. KRYLATA — «Queen»
  5. PARFENIUK — «Серед вітрів»
  6. SHÉPA — «SUPERNOVA»

  8. SWOIIA ​​— «Little Angels»

Ukraine: The final of Vidbir 2024 will take place on February 3!

Ukraine will select its representative for the Eurovision Song Contest 2024, as it does every year, through the Vidbir format. Thus, Suspilne, the Ukrainian national broadcaster, revealed yesterday that the televised final of Vidbir 2024 will take place on February 3.

Eleven acts will compete in Vidbir 2024 for the Ukrainian representation in Malmö. Ten of them have already been announced and are the following:

Ukraine: These are the ten finalists of Vidbir 2024!

Around a week ago, Suspilne revealed the twenty artists longlisted for Vidbir 2024. The twenty artists longlisted were those advanced to the next stage of the competition, the “Live Auditions” stage. This stage was used in order to determine the participants of Vidbir 2024 televised final scheduled to air in February.

Hence, following a week of auditions, Suspilne announced the ten artists along with their song titles that have qualified to the final of the competition.

The ten finalists of Vidbir 2024 are the following:

  • Drevo — “Endless chain”
  • INGRET — “Keeper”
  • MÉLOVIN — “DREAMER”

What’s next for Vidbir 2024?

  • Among the remaining competitors, who were not advanced to the final at this stage, an online voting will be held in order to determine one more participant to the televised final of Vidbir 2024. The online public vote for the extra spot in Vidbir 2024 final will be conducted in December.
  • The final line-up will be revealed by December 29, 2023.
  • While, the songs of the remaining ten artists will be revealed to public, so that the online voting can be conducted, the ten songs that have already made it to the final will be published in early 2024, as we approach the date of the national selection.

The televised final of Vidbir 2024 will be held in February 2024. The winner will be determined by public and jury voting. Also, the composition of the jury will be decided by the Ukrainian public at a later time through online voting.

The previous winners of Vidbir and Ukraine’s representatives in Eurovision 2023, were Tvorchi with their song “Heart of Steel”, ending up in sixth place of the Grand Final.
