Belgium: With Red Sebastian and “Strobe Lights” at Eurovision 2025!

Belgium’s national final “Eurosong 2025” has been completed, with Red Sebastian and “Strobe Lights” winning the golden ticket to represent the country at Eurovision 2025 in Basel!

Peter Van de Veire took the helm of the presentation for another year. The jury is made up of 15 people, including Emmelie De Forest (Denmark’s representative in 2012) and Gustaph (Belgium’s representative in 2023), who together with guest Tom Dice (Belgium’s representative in 2010) performed their entries.

The participants

In the national final, eight artists presented their proposals for Eurovision 2023 in the following order:

  1. LEEZ – “Perfectly imperfect
  2. Le Manou – “Fille à papa
  3. Jelle Van Dael – “Monster
  4. Mentissa – “Désolée
  5. Lenns – “Air balloon
  6. Stefanie Callebaut – “Gloria
  7. Red Sebastian – “Strobe lights
  8. Grace – “Pull up

The competitive part

LEEZ – “Perfectly imperfect

First on stage was LEEZ, accompanied by three dancers, seated on armchairs. The song has a rather dark approach in black and beige tones, trying to showcase LEEZ’s voice, who no doubt performs the song beautifully.

Le Manou – “Fille à papa

Next on stage is Le Manou, who certainly knows how to get the crowd going. She wears an eccentric outfit, is accompanied by two dancers and uses a red car as a prop on stage. The performance is characterized by red and blue lighting, but vocally she is not good enough to challenge Belgium’s representation in Basel.

Jelle Van Dael – “Monster

The show continues and it’s Jelle’s turn, who captivates the audience with her voice. She appears alone on stage, wearing a white dress, while the stage is illuminated in dark blue tones, giving the impression that Jelle is underwater. Despite her flawless execution, it seems that the song is not enough to win.

Mentissa – “Désolée

It’s the turn of Mentissa, one of the favorites of tonight’s evening, accompanied by four dancers dressed in black. A minimal subdued performance with blue lighting, and towards the end multiple images of both Mentissa and her dancers appear on the LEDs. Performed very well and the audience is very enthusiastic.

Lenns – “Air balloon

Lenns ascends the smoke-filled stage, while the LEDs alternate with images of the sky. Throughout the performance he steps on cubes scattered around the stage, giving the impression that he is stepping on clouds. Despite the beautiful backdrop, vocally he is not good at all.

Stefanie Callebaut – “Gloria

Next up is Stefanie with a pretty dark look, which is quite reminiscent of this Mentissa in the lighting. With a quite unique look and distinctive voice she performs her song, having quite a few instabilities.

Red Sebastian – “Strobe lights

The biggest favourite to represent Belgium at this year’s Eurovision. With a contemporary aesthetic and staging in red, black and white tones, Red Sebastian appears on a raised structure and gets the audience going, and is joined at the end by four dancers. The performance vocally is not flawless, but the enthusiasm of the crowd shows that it’s hard to miss the ticket to Basel.

Grace – “Pull up

Grace closes the show with a dance song, which the audience seems to like. Wearing a leopard ensemble, her performance has a streetstyle aesthetic in yellow lights and is accompanied by four female and one male dancer. Vocally she is good and in the dancebreak she steals the show with her dancing skills.

The winner was decided by the vote of the 15 members of the jury and the TV audience, who have a free vote via the channel’s website and a payphone vote.
