The San Marino Song Contest is currently in its auditions phase, during which international artists can compete to be selected for the semifinals of the San Marinese national selection for Eurovision.
Ukrainian artist TESLENKO has joined the participants competing to represent San Marino. A couple of days after announcing his withdrawal from Vidbir 2025, the artist will compete for a place in the San Marino national final. According to the website of the competition, he will take part in the casting phase on January 11 at 17:10 CET. TESLENKO will audition on the same day with Besa Kokëdhima who represented Albania in Eurovision 2024.
Following the announcement of his participation, TESLENKO has published a story on his Instagram where he said he is excited about having another opportunity to compete in Eurovision. In his story, he said that, although he would be representing San Marino, his song proposal would keep Ukrainian patterns as well as the spirit of the country and that his goal is to strengthen the presence of his country at the European contest.
From Vidbir to San Marino
TESLENKO was initially planning to compete in Vidbir 2025. He had already participated in the Ukrainian national selection in 2024 with the song “Lights Go Up”. Unfortunately, he finished in 8th place in the online voting of Vidbir and could not reach the final in 2024. This year he was competing for the last seat for the Final of Vidbir. He was competing with other 10 artists.
However, on 27 December, TESLENKO withdrew from Vidbir 2025. The acts that did not advance to the Vidbir 2025 final will have another opportunity to earn the last position through an online vote through the Diya app in January. TESLENKO was on the Second Chance voting until recently when he asked Suspilne to suspend his participation.
According to TESLENKO’S Instagram, he decided to withdraw from Vidbir to avoid “being accused of exaggerating a sensible topic”
The final of the first San Marino Song Contest will take place on March 08, 2025
