Montenegro: No return for Eurovision 2024?

As reported by media from the Balkan country, it seems that Montenegro will not return for Eurovision 2024.

According to unofficial information from CdM, the world’s most popular music show will be held for the second consecutive year without Montenegro’s participation.

The public broadcaster RTCG has not yet made any official statement.

Last year, Montenegro took the decision to withdraw from the Eurovision Song Contest for financial reasons.

The country made its debut in the Eurovision Song Contest in 2007 and withdrew in 2010, 2011, 2020, 2021 and 2023.

The last Montenegrin representative was Vladana, who placed second to last in the second semi-final of Eurovision 2022 with the song Breathe.

Montenegro: Vladana speaks openly about the problems of this year’s contest!

Montenegro’s representative expressed her dissatisfaction about this year’s Eurovision Song Contest. Vladana, competeing with the Balkan country with the song “Breathe”, gave an interview in a Spanish website and talked about the many problems she had to face during the rehearsals.

At first, she said that she didn’t want the EBU to select that exact part of her rehearsal to give out for the second rehersal clip. She wanted to keep the structure on her dress a secret until the night of the semi-final. She calls it a “Halo” that reacts to sound either from her voice or music, offering us a magnificentresult.

You can watch the exclusive rehearsal clip of Montenegro that EBU released below:

In the same interview she gave out some more information about the sun-shaped structure in the center of the stage. That structure was supposed to change depending on the needs of each participant. Of course this was impossible to happen as… the sun is really heavy. Thus it was decided that it will stay still. As Vladana said, no country was informed about this decision in time, it was something they learned a few days before arriving in Turin.

I have to be honest, I am very disappointed with some things about Eurovision this year. Everyone had told me that Eurovision was perfection in production but… it’s not like that. I don’t know if it is because it is Italy and Italians are very improvisers, leaving everything to the last minute… And look what has happened! Two days before we arrived in Turin we received an email that the Sun was no longer working.

The Montenegrin representative went on to reveal that only about 5% of what the public broadcaster asked were fullfilled from the Italian organizers, as for the graphics, the shots and the lighting, a last minute solution had to be found.

The many problems of this year’s contest seem to have no end as the begining of the contest is only some days apart. Montenegro will compete in the second semi-final on May 12.

Montenegro: “Breath” to be released on early March!

Every country is currently picking its representative for Turin, while in the meantime, Montenegro starts filming the video clip for “Breath” which is expected to be released on early March!

Indeed, this Monday the country’s representative Vladana will film the video clip in “secret location” with director the renowned Gojko Berkuljian and a team of young artists

The performer gave out some tips about the video that we are going to see in our screens. She said specifically :

“We decided to approach the topic a little differently and communicate it through visually strong metaphorical elements. Playing with surreal elements, we will focus on just ‘breathing’, thus communicating directly with the title of the song. We will treat it as a space that lacks air and where one cannot ‘breathe in.’ The whole ambience will act as if it is frozen in time, with people and things slowly levitating in that airless and weightless space. We aim to make these situations act like ordinary moments from life, which are abruptly stopped and never resume. Everything should act as if those moments from life that are trapped in time slowly begin to crumble, dissipate, erode, and our heroine will stop that state of progressive decay by breaking the vacuum and breathing life.”

After the country’s absence, they return to compete for a place in the final, which they have to get since 2015. That year the country was represented by Knez and the song “Adio“.
