We will keep you up to date with all the latest information and images off this semi-final rehearsal, allowing you to get a glimpse of what you will get to see tomorrow March 5th, at 20:00 CET, when you watch the actual semi-final show on SVT and SVT Play.

The show

Oscar Zia is the host of the night and as previously reported, all the shows for the national selection procedure of the Swedish representative for this year’s contest in Turin take place exclusively in Stockholm and as already announced, semi-finals one to three took place at the Avicii Arena, while semi-finals four and five as well as the grand final are held at Friends Arena.

Oscar glows with glitter on his face, he is at the arena and everything is ready to begin! It’s time to face the music! Farah Abadi is always by his side, covering the backstage, discussing with the artists and doing the introduction videos of the performers.

The Process

The voting system of Melodifestivalen had been changed by SVT, starting from this year. We won’t have any duels anymore. Two songs of each of the above two performance groups, four in total, will qualify to the final show, next Saturday March 12.

The aggregate results are going to be announced, compared to the rest of the semi-finals where we also had announcement of the votes from each viewer age group.

Group A

  • Tone Sekelius – “My Way

Tone has surprised us with a super classy red dress that was revealed after the beige dress, she was wearing since the beginning of the song was torn apart by her two dancers!

At some point she had yellow and blue lights on her face. Was that a reference at the Swedish colours, or maybe Ukraine? A warm applause by the press people that are watching this rehearsal today.

  • Alvaro Estrella – “Suave

Amazing Alvaro Estrella on stage and we wouldn’t expect anything less than what we see now! The captivating red-white contrast that as he has mentioned to us, he thinks it is a hot and sexy combo that he wanted to keep in his performance! The press went nuts!

  • Danne Stråhed – “Hallabaloo

Danne on stage, with his country sounds and his nice energy goes up there and sings with his amazing voice, bold and confident! And I think that the press really like him!

  • Anna Bergendahl – “Higher Power

Anna never fails to impress us and always takes her songs to the next level! Amazing energy she put up there and she has influenced us all! As she has exclusively commented to us yesterday, this song is part of a trilogy of songs and she gained a massive applause by the media people here at the arena!

In between the two performance groups, there is the usual recap video with the phone numbers that the viewers will vote tomorrow! Next we will get the chance to watch a small part of the show dedicated to the Melodifestivalen Hall of Fame and Peter Himmelstrand!

But now it is time for the announcement of Group A qualifiers!

  • Virtual Group A Qualifiers

Anna Bergendahl – “Higher Power” and Danne Stråhed – “Hallabaloo”

After the qualifiers were announced, Mariette came up on stage singing with pitch perfect vocals!

Group B

  • Theoz – “Som du vill

Uplifting energy by the youngest of the bunch, Theoz. He will certainly be voted a lot tomorrow, something that didn’t happen during his semi final, due to an unforeseen issue with the voting app!

  • Lisa Miskovsky – “Best to Come

My personal favourite of this semi! There is much of a difference if you compare the energy of the studio version of the song, compared to what we get to see here at the arena and on TV. Amazing vocals, always on point and even though you can’t see it by her performance, she is really fun in person! Such a nice energy that penetrates the camera and comes right at you on your TV sets! At the arena, everybody went crazy, we got the energy and we applauded her hard in return!

  • Lillasyster – “Till Our Days Are Over

The rock entry of this semi put up on stage the essential amount of crazy on stage. Vocals on point and the crowd was singing along!

  • Cazzi Opeia – “I Can’t Get Enough

Cazzi Opeia puts up an on-stage party, dreamy, crazy and with a lot of influence by K-Pop with regards to the staging as she has exclusively commented to us yesterday. Having all the colours of the rainbow and the super-sweet Cazzi on stage, how can you not smile and applaud? Try this, it won’t work, you will smile and applaud for sure!

  • Virtual Group B Qualifiers

Lisa Miskovsky – “Best to Come” and Cazzi Opeia – “I Can’t Get Enough”

A prediction

My prediction is that we will get to see Tone Sekelius and Anna Bergendahl from the first group and Lisa Miskovsky and Cazzi Opeia from the second group, qualifying to the finals. Alvaro Estrella is also a strong contender for qualification and Theoz who is extremely popular to younger ages, as he is s famous influencer himself.

Let’s see what is going to happen, tomorrow 20:00 CET, when you will get the chance to watch the actual semi final live, on SVT or SVT Play. EurovisionFun will be here in Stockholm at Friends Arena, right to the heart of the show, where you will have the chance to be informed about the results, as soon as they are announced by Oscar Zia!

Which four of today’s competing artists do you think will be qualifying to the finals, on the 12th of March?

Stay tuned at Eurovisionfun, for all the latest developments regarding Melodifestivalen 2022 and the Swedish entry for Eurovision 2022!
