Azerbaijan: Fahree will represent the country in Malmö!

Azerbaijan has finally reached a decision. Following an internal selection for which few information was given to public, Ictimai Television has revealed that Fahree is the chosen one.

Only the artist was announced at this stage, while the song is expected to be released in the coming days, considering that the deadline is on March 11th.

How was Fahree selected?

Following the voting of a jury committee, the following six artists were shortlisted and hence claimed the Azerbaijani representation in Malmö:

  • Emiliya Yaqubova
  • Ilkin Dovlatov, Mila Miles and Etibar Asadli
  • Aisel (Azerbaijan 2018)
  • Fahree I.
  • Qorqud (Elvin Novruzov)
  • Sabina Guluzadeh

Among the jury members of the selection there are Aysel Teymurzadə (Azerbaijan 2009) as well as Eldar Qasımov & Nigar Camal (Azerbaijan 2011-winner).

Who is Fahree?

The singer was born in Baku in 1995 and was brought up in a very artistic family; his father was a passionate jazz drummer, while his grandfather was a respected actor.During his university years, Fahree studied hard to become a lawyer, spending 6 years on achieving both a Bachelor’s and a Master’s degree in law.

However, while the world was caught up in the global pandemic back in 2020, Fahree was living a renaissance of his childhood dream… dedicating his life to music. Fahree finally got the courage to put aside his juridical career perspectives and follow his real passion – and the Eurovision Song Contest is a dream come true.

Azerbaijan wants to overturn the tables after its second non qualification this year, in Liverpool. TuralTuranX with their song “Tell Me More”, managed to finish only second to last in their Semi-Final.
