Croatia Eurovision 2024

Baby Lasagna: “They yelled like an angry dog!”| The Croatian representative talks about Eurovision 2024 and all the events that took place backstage!

Three months after the Eurovision Song Contest 2024, both fans and artists continue to comment on the positive and negative things that took place in Malmö. Now it’s the turn of this year’s silver champion, Baby Lasagna, who gave an interview to the Croatian podcast“Podcast Inkubator “, together with his manager, Krešimir Šustić.

Both expressed strong criticism regarding the conduct of the Contest, the behaviour of the contestants, the behaviour of the Israeli delegation, while Baby Lasagna spoke about the disqualification of Joost Klein from his own perspective.

Firstly, Baby Lasagna, talked about Bambie Thug from Ireland, and stated that he believes that they would not have had such a positive result if they did not have this “excessive” staging:

“When the results were announced in the finals and the hosts were about to declare the winner between me and Nemo, Bambie started shouting ‘Nemo! Nemo! Nemo!’ In response, the Serbian delegation shouted ‘Marko! Marko! Marko!’, my name. It really made me laugh… They are just something special. I think they succeeded in the competition because the performance was excellently produced. I listen to songs in this style and have no problem with it, but their song – it just isn’t it.”

Marko then spoke about the controversial participation of Israel, specifically the behaviour of the delegation and what happened before the last dress rehearsal:

“This is the first time I’m actually talking about it. We were standing in line to join the flag parade, and everything was fine. The Irish representative and the Greek representative were standing there, and just then someone passed by and filmed a video; I guess it was someone from the Israeli delegation. Bambie started shouting at him, ‘Don’t film me!’ They yelled like an angry dog! And added that it’s a ‘celebration of love and peace’ while drooling… and everyone was really shocked. I bit my lips trying not to laugh. They talk about a celebration of love and peace while shouting and getting angry, just unnecessary drama. In the end, Bambie, Nemo, and I don’t know who else ran to the room and started crying. What’s going on with you guys? This is supposed to be Eurovision…”

“I don’t know why Bambie, Marina, and Nemo were so upset with the Israeli delegation. The Israeli delegation was not a nuisance at all, at least from what I saw. And regarding Bambie’s claim that they film her, there are cameras everywhere and everyone is taking pictures of everyone. It just amused me that she shouted about peace and love while behaving with anger and frustration.”

Finally, he also referred to the much-discussed disqualification of Joost Klein from the Netherlands:

“There was so much drama, so many rumors… From what we understood, there was an incident with a camerawoman from the EBU. But before that, Joost didn’t even show up for the rehearsal; he sent someone else in his place. He was there but sent his ‘doppelgaenger’ to sing, the EBU prevented him from attending the rehearsal. On that day, a camerawoman from the production approached to photograph him, and after he told her he didn’t agree, she said she had to. In response, he knocked the camera out of her hand. Then rumors started that he was guilty, she was guilty, that he threatened her, etc. I don’t know what happened, but the camerawoman felt threatened and called the police, and just hours later, the EBU announced his disqualification from the competition”.

Baby Lasagna represented Croatia at Eurovision 2024 and managed to get the best result of the country, in almost 30 years of its participation, finishing in second place with 547 points:
