Eurovision 2023: Armenia’s Second Rehearsal!

The next artist to come up on the stage is Brunette, representing Armenia, with the song “Future Lover”.

Who is Brunette?

Elen Yeremyan, known in the music industry as Brunette, is an Armenian singer and songwriter born in 4th May of 2001 and raised in Yerevan. She’s active in singing and songwriting at the age of fifteen and she released her debut single “Love The Way You Feel” at 2019. Brunette is also a member of the girl group “En aghjiknery” translated as “ThoseGirlz”. Last year, the singer released many singles which you can find on all music platforms.

On 1st February, it was announced that Brunette was internally chosen to represent her country to the Song Contest by the National Broadcaster ARMTV.

The Rehearsal

Unfortunately this year, accredited journalists don’t get the chance to watch the first and second rehearsals, so we only get the information and content that the organizers officially release to the public.

The Armenian team did not make any changes to the costume or staging from what we saw on their first rehearsal on Monday.

One thing we can say for sure is the lighting and LED floor graphics in this performance look incredible on the TV screen!

The performance begins as a simple ballad, with Brunette lying on an inclined structure set up at the front of the stage, with swirling graphics as a backdrop. Then when the song picks up pace, the lights and graphics change. Vocally the singer is very good as she delivers a strong performance.

Who is Riley?

Rani Petersen is known in the music industry as Reiley, is the first person from the Faroe Islands to participate in Eurovision Song Contest. Reiley is twenty-five years old singer and he became known as a social media influencer on TikTok in the early 2019, with nearly 11 million followers.

Since then, Reiley is posting on social media hundreds of covers that many of these became viral across all the internet. On February, he participated on the Danish National Selection Dansk Melodi Grand Prix 2023 and won the competition making history in the Eurovision books.

The Rehearsal

Unfortunately this year, accredited journalists don’t get the chance to watch the first and second rehearsals, so we only get the information and content that the organizers officially release to the public.

Reiley’s outfit is different to the one used in his first rehearsal! His beige sequins and white trousers are now changed to a candyfloss pink sparkly suit!

It also seems that the entry’s staging works really good on screen with Reiley’s rotating house being compared by the organizers to what Rosa Linn, from Armenia, did last year!

There is a new prop compared to the national final performance, a huge wooden box among with a stack with paletes are placed on stage. At the end of the song, he pours himself with champagne, at which point the thumping techno/rap first half transforms into a joyful schlager anthem to the end. A “crazy” and “party” way to close the first semi final!

The Rehearsal

Unfortunately this year, accredited journalists don’t get the chance to watch the first and second rehearsals, so we only get the information and content that the organizers officially release to the public.

As we know so far, Mia and Dion are standing on a small revolving stage, it penetrates a beautiful effect as they move around each other against the backdrop of spotlights in the arena. It’s a complex camera set-up that makes the whole performance feel really intimate. There is a harmony on their voices compared to the staging and the outfits that makes that really special and powerful that everyone will have goosebumps.

In 2016, the band’s frontwoman wated to create an all-female band that would celebrate feminity and Slavic sisterhood. In 2018, the band released their first studio album, Pátá bohyně. As we already know, Vesna are performing in matching pink pantsuits. The six members of the band perform a super-polished dance routine, and the whole three minutes feels really cohesive and well put together, with bags of female empowerment energy. In this rehearsal, all the group changed their hair. There’s some complex hair-ography in opening verse, and their plaits have got much longer and heavier. This staging is more effective.

As we know, Tural and Turan are standing on a heart-shaped podium centre stage. The duet wears matching green and purple suits. This combination sets a perfect harmony for this staging. There’s also a colour fade from black and white to colour, it’s a really nice effect at the beginning of the song. During the song, the duet shares the screen with the split screen effect.

Eurovision 2023: Second Rehearsal of Sweden!

Today is the fourth day of rehearsals, the day when the countries participating in the First Semi Final will take over the stage for their second rehearsal at M&S Bank Arena, in Liverpool!

Next up on stage for their second rehearsal is Sweden and Loreen with the song “Tattoo“.

Who is Loreen?

Lorine Zineb Nora Talhaoui, known as Loreen, is a Swedish singer, songwriter, and this year’s winner of Melodifestivalen. Interested in becoming a musician, Loreen took part in the Idol 2004 television competition, finishing fourth. The following year she released her first single, “The Snake“, with the band Rob’n’Raz and became a television presenter on TV400. While working as a segment producer and director for several Swedish reality TV shows, she entered Melodifestivalen 2011 with the song “My Heart Is Refusing Me“, which became a top 10 hit in Sweden. She also had top 20 hits in Sweden with the singles “Crying Out Your Name” (2012) and her Melodifestivalen 2017 entry “Statements“.

Representing Sweden, she won the Eurovision Song Contest 2012 with her entry “Euphoria“, which topped the charts in numerous European countries. She will represent Sweden in Eurovision for a second time in 2023 with Tattoo which broke into the charts globally in many countries.

The Rehearsal

Loreen and her light box are back on stage – we were really interested to see the big screen version of this, as so much of it is filmed in close-up.

Sarah Louise Bennett/EBU

The stage and the LED screen is a sea of swirling smoke, and the whole effect is incredibly intense. It’s WAY more intense and dramatic than it looks in the arena – Loreen is NOT here to play.

Sarah Louise Bennett/EBU

It’s Loreen, so obviously this performance is tighter than that catsuit and more polished than those terrifyingly long nails. Sounds incredible, looks incredible – the perfect finish to a brilliant first day of rehearsals.
