Last Saturday, Melodifestivalen ended for another year, with Loreen and “Tattoo” as the big winner. The Eurovision 2012 winner returns to the competition for the second time as the big favourite to win and Sweden look set to claim their 7th victory in the competition.

Czechia: Vesna’s creative team behind the staging has been revealed!

ESCZ revealed today, on Instagram, all the names of the final team who are going to be in charge of Vesna’s staging in Liverpool.

VESNA have already started their preparations for their performance on Liverpool’s stage and the team behind the staging consists of a variety of talented artists. Among others, Matyáš Vorda is going to be the visual director and the LED content creator, while Vít Bělohradský is going to be the stage director, as he was last year as well. Both of them have already worked with a number of Czech artists of Eurovision, like We Are Domi, Benny Cristo and Lake Malawi.

Furthermore, Bára Juránková and Zizoe Veselá are going to be in charge of the creative direction and the costume ideas for the performance, while the latter is also the choreographer.

Sweden: These are the detailed results of all the shows of Melodifestivalen 2023!

The Final of Melodifestivalen 2023, was broadcast by SVT and SVT Play last Saturday and we now know that Loreen will represent Sweden at Eurovision Song Contest 2023 in Liverpool, with the song “Tattoo“, placing first in both the International Jury and the public vote!

Today SVT released the detail results of all the Melodifestivalen 2023 shows and as it seems Loreen won by a landslide! There was also a significant difference in votes between Loreen and the runner-ups of the show in Malmö, Smash Into Pieces!

But let’s see how the results were in each of the shows:

  • Heat 1: Göteborg – Saturday 4 February 2023 (Scandinavium)

  • Heat 2: Linköping – Saturday 11 February 2023 (Saab Arena)

  • Heat 3: Lidköping – Saturday 18 February 2023 (Sparbanken Arena)

  • Heat 4: Malmö – Saturday 25 February 2023 (Malmö Arena)

  • Semi-Final: Örnsköldsvik – Saturday 4 March 2023 (Hägglunds Arena)

  • Final: Stockholm – Satuday 11 March 2023 (Friends Arena)

Norway: NRK announced the celebrity panel for “Adresse Liverpool”

Norways state broadcaster NRK broadcasts a special programme dedicated to the Eurovision Song Contest every year. As we have already revealed for 2023, Adresse Liverpoolwill premiere on 15 April with the first entries in this years competition. Approximately 8 songs will be reviewed each week with the judges scoring the songs from one to twelve points.

Recently, NRK released more information about the show and the names of the celebrities who will form the jury and vote during the four episodes of Adresse Liverpool. The show will be presented by Norwegian commentator Marte Stokstad, who will be joined by Ingeborg Heldal (music editor), Staysman (singer and presenter) and Kevin Vågenes (comedian).

Adresse Liverpool will consist of four shows with an additional celebrity judge joining the shows panel. The broadcast dates, the additional judges and some of the countries that will be featured are as follows:

  • April 14 – Kim Wigaard (MGP Participant), featuring Czechia, Norway and France.

 

  • April 21 – Agnete Husebye (YouTuber), featuring Serbia, Ukraine and Denmark.

 

  • April 28 – Amanda Tenfjord (Greece 2022) & Fawad Ashraf (Past Eurovision juror), featuring Iceland, Austria and Germany.

 

  • May 5 – Henrik Aasheim (Deputy Lead of the Conservative Party), Linn Skåber (Comedian and writer), featuring Sweden, Finland and Moldova

As always, there will be an audience jury that will vote on each of the shows led by Jim Ødegård Pedersen. It has also been confirmed that Marte Stokstad will return to NRK’s commentary booth for Eurovision 2023  in May.

Italy: The three minute version of “Due Vite”!

In the Eurovision Song Contest there is the rule according to which all the songs when performed live on the semi-final and final nights must be maximum of three minutes in length. So while the tracks may last longer on music platforms and on the official  album, they will need to undergo some processing for their live performance.

One of the countries that usually chooses longer tracks is Italy, where again this year its participation with Marco Mengoni and “Due vite” had to be modified.

Below you can see the lyrical differences between the regular length and the three-minute length of the song on the night of the Grand Final.

Georgia: Listen to “Echo” from Iru for Eurovision 2023!

A few days ago, through the official Eurovision Twitter account, it was revealed that Iru‘s entry will be revealed tonight through the contest’s official YouTube channel.

Iru won the representation of Georgia at Eurovision 2023 by winning the fifth cycle of The Voice Georgia!

The song is titled “Echo” and is completely in English.

Who is Iru?

Iru was born on December 3, 2000 in Tbilisi. He is of Armenian descent. As a child, he took part in various singing competitions. In 2011, on her eleventh birthday, she represented Georgia at the Junior Eurovision Song Contest 2011 in Yerevan, Armenia as a member of the group Candy winning the contest with 108 points.

In 2019 she participated in Georgian Idol and in 2021, she released her first single titled “No Jerk Around Me”. In 2022, she performed at the Junior Eurovision Song Contest 2022 while also co-writing the song “I Believe” by Mariam Bigvava, Georgia’s entry for that year’s contest finishing in third place.

Later that year, Iru participated in the fifth season of The Voice Georgia. She won the contest on 2 February 2023, earning the right to represent Georgia at the Eurovision Song Contest 2023.

Georgia will compete at the second half of the second semi final on Thursday May 11th.

After months of speculations and crazy theories, about a very popular artist from the international music industry that could bring UK’s 6th win in their own home, we finally know the next representative of  The United Kingdom for Eurovision Song Contest 2023 in Liverpool.

As it was announced from the BBC, Mae Muller will represent the country in this year edition with the song “I Wrote A Song”.

Armenia: Listen to “Future Lover” by Brunette for Eurovision 2023!

A month ago, Armenia‘s public television, AMPTV, announced that Brunette will be the country’s representative in Liverpool this May.

Through her personal Instagram account, Brunette had revealed that the song would be presented tonight via Eurovision’s official YouTube channel.

The song is titled “Future Lover” and is in English.

A few words about Brunette:

Brunette has been singing since the age of four and writing music since she was fifteen. She released her first single, “Love the Way You Feel”, at the age of 18 in September 2019. She later joined Project 12, a Yerevan-based band that performed in nightclubs.

Brunette is also a member of the girl group En aghjiknery (ThoseGirlz), known for their 2022 single “Menq“. In the same year, Brunette released the singles “Gisher”, “Smoke Break” and “Bac kapuyt achqerd” , with the latter going viral on social media.

On 1 February 2023, it was announced that Brunette was internally selected to represent Armenia at the Eurovision Song Contest 2023.

Armenia will be competing in the first half of the second semi-final on 11 May.

Spain: 733,000 Euros Budget for Eurovision 2023!

According to the Spanish website Publico, RTVE is budgeting expenses of  733,000 euros to participate in the Eurovision Song Contest 2023.

The Spanish public broadcaster is spending a total of €732,940 for the country’s participation in the 67th edition of the Eurovision Song Contest. This is the second highest budget allocated to the competition in the past decade, with the exception of only the €782,044 spent in 2019.

The budget for Spain’s participation in the Eurovision Song Contest has increased by 11.45% compared to 2022. The increase in the budget is due to the increase in the entry fee RTVE must pay to compete to €347,697, an increase of €45,000 euros compared to 2022. the highest participation amount that RTVE has paid since 2012, when the broadcaster paid over 316,000 euros to participate.

The other increase is in the budget allocated for the official music video of “Eaea” which is 52,156 euros, as last year the corresponding amount was covered by Chanel’s record company, BMG.

RTVE will announce the final entry fee for the Eurovision Song Contest 2023 in the weeks following the competition in Liverpool, UK.
