Conor O’Donohoe, who is the lead singer of Wild Youth, this year’s representatives of Ireland, promised that their performance on Liverpool’s stage is going to be a “big and bold” one, during his interview for PA News Agency.

Conor O’Donohoe

Moreover, he also revealed that he is currently undergoing a health and training regime, cutting down junk food, in order to be fully fit on stage!

I’m definitely having to put down the McDonald’s and pick up the carrot sticks… I do my vocal lessons every day, and I listen to the song and then I run on a treadmill while I sing the songs.

Conor O’Donohoe

Wild Youth’s lead singer also commented on the procedure of composing “We Are One” and mentioned that he wanted to create a song which would live up to the whole Eurovision’s stature.

I wanted to write a song that could live up to the stature and the size of the stage and the arena and the scale of Eurovision.

Conor O’Donohoe

However, Ireland’s “We Are One” is not considered as a qualification’s favorite song from the first semi-final, until now, since it is currently placed at the lower slots of Eurovision’s odds.

Albania: Details about Albina & Familja Kelmendi’s stage performance revealed!

The composer of “Duje”, gave an interview to RTSH, the public broadcaster of Albania, and revealed some first details about the stafing of the Alba nnian entry for Eurovision 2023.

Eriona Rushiti, who is the composer behind the Albanian song, talking about “Duje” and its staging, explained that the live performance that we are going to see on Liverpool isbeing made with great interest:

“This year, they are working very well for the stage. Especially since there are six people on stage, everything must be correct, the message must be conveyed clearly. I hope that the live song will have a lot of impact.”

Also, talking about this year’s stage director, Sacha Jean-Baptiste, she stated that:

“Sacha has been with her group in Pristina for a week. They work with every frame … how we will move the cameras and the lights. She worked with the choreography for all six members. I believe it will be very nice.”

Eriona Rushiti, also talked a bit about the revamp of the song and the reason it took place in Istanbul:

“That particular studio was chosen due to the fact that it was possible to use the “live” string orchestra and many instruments that were needed for the song. Especially since they know our culture. We couldn’t choose a studio from another country that doesn’t know our beat and the culture we have. The song took on a more modern spirit. We stayed true to the version that was presented at the RTSH Festival, but some other elements were strengthened.”

Albina & Familja Kelmendi are going to perform in the seconf half of the second semi-final of Eurovision 2023 in May 11.

Belgium: Gustaph unveils Eurovision staging details

Belgium’s representative Gustaph has set in train his intense preparations for the 2023 contest as he explicitly states in Liverpoolecho:

“I can’t tell you too much but when we first saw the stage, I knew we had to make something much more dynamic than what we did in Belgium. It’s going to be different. The idea of static stairs won’t be there anymore and there will be much more interaction with the visuals and the performance as well. Adding to that, we’re now going to have three backing vocalists. The song is written from a gospel perspective so three voices are going to make it bigger than it already is.”

In the interview, Gustaph cites Eurovision 1998 UK’s entry Where are you now? by Imaani as one of his all-time favorite Eurovision performances,as the song’s strong house-music elements and “deep lyricism” played a determining role in his turning into a Eurovision aficionado.

Last weekend,Gustaph made an appearance in RTL’s show Humberto in order to promote his 2023 entry called “Because of You”.The show, which aired on RTL4, received quite a positive response from the audience as it was watched by an average of 488,000 viewers and even reached a high of 1.400.o00 viewers throughout the course of its broadcast.

Gustaph was chosen to represent Belgium after having being crowned the winner of  Eurosong 2023,Belgium’s first national final in seven years.Despite the fact that he did not manage to win the televote, the jury’s votes were more than enough to give him the golden ticket to Liverpool. However,he is already familiar with the Eurovision stage,as he was a backing vocalist both for Sennek (2018) and Hooverphonic (2021).

Gustaph is going to sing his song “Because of You” in the first half of the second semi-final in this year’s Eurovision, scheduled to take place on May 11.

What do you think of Belgium’s entry?Could the performance be impactful enough to bring Belgium back in the top 10 after 6 whole years?
