She also commented on her result, of course, as she brought her country into the Top Ten after five years.

“I’m incredibly happy that people listened, people heard me, people voted! This is important to me!”

France: “France does not deserve this!” | The comments of Marie Myriam, the last French winner!

The last winner of France, Marie Myriam, who won the contest back in 1977, commented on Le Parisien La Zarra’s gesture and believes that she is a bad loser.

La Zarra’s gesture towards the camera during the announcement of the televoting in the final of Eurovision 2023 had a negative impact on social media and upset Marie Myriam, the last winner of France back in 1977.

“That gesture by La Zarra at the end of the night because she didn’t win is really shocking”

However, La Zarra clarified that this was not a middle finger, but a “gesture of frustration”.

Furthermore Marie Myriam added:

“I’m extremely disappointed”

“Watch the video, it’s a middle finger! And it was seen by almost 200 million viewers. What a shame! I am extremely disappointed because this is simply not possible.”

“She made this gesture sitting in an armchair with French flags behind her. France does not deserve this! She justifies herself by saying that this gesture expresses a frustration in the Moroccan culture, but it will start a racist war rhetoric that we really don’t need.”

According to Marie Myriam, La Zarra is eventually a bad loser.

“Perhaps they should explain to her that it was not guaranteed that she would come first. This is the principle of the competition. If you don’t want to lose, you don’t participate!”

“Expressing her displeasure, her disappointment, with this vulgar gesture, she put gray on her image, the very same woman who was sunny with that red, that black, her beautiful hat”

France ended up in the 16th place of the Grand Final receiving from the televoting and the national juries 104 points.

Loreen: “It didn’t bother me that the audience was singing Cha Cha Cha”!

Loreen gave her first interview on Swedish TV after being the winner of this year’s Eurovision Song Contest and talked about the moment when during her victory the croud on the arena was singing “Cha Cha Cha”.

More specifically, Loreen said that:

“I mean Käärijä is so (f-word) awesome! An amazing performance. And it’s nice, when acts get such support. You can’t just go “Shush shush, you can only think I’m good“, that’s not how it works!

No, no. That doesn’t bother me. I have to work a little on my ego.”

Finally, she was also asked what message she would like to send to the Finnish representative and she stated:

To Käärijä I’d like to say that it’s not every day, that you see creators be that authentic on stage, and he has an authentic expression. He is himself. It’s pure all the way through, and that’s why people cheer for him. That happens when you are authentic. So I know things will go well for him. Things will go really damn well for Käärijä!”

During the rehearsals and the pre-parties we have seen several times the two artists coming in contact and chatting, showing the excellent relations they have with each other.

RIK will not file an objection to the Greek jury even though its establishment appears to be invalid!

Invited to ALPHA’s show, Super Katerina, was the director general of RIK, Mr. Thanasis Tsokos, who was asked to comment on everything we revealed yesterday from our website regarding the formal obstacles we identified in the ERT’s  jury for this year’s Eurovision Song Contest.

We have no intention of filing an objection but…

Mr. Tsokos, when asked by Katerina Kainourgiou if RIK intends to file an objection for the Greek jury, stated that there is no such intention, and the final score could only be changed if ex officio the EBU, which has already been informed of the issue, proceeded to cancel the rating of the ERT committee. Nevertheless, Mr. Tsokos expressed his bitterness over the fact that Greece did not give Cyprus the 12 points this year, since by all accounts it was a good entry and with the 4 points it finally gave, it deprived his country of a top ten finish. At the end, the general director of RIK gave a piece of advice to ERT, which we think they should take very seriously, after everything that happened this year.

ERT itself should rationalize its committee!

We remind you that the problem with the establishment of the ERT committee is that it includes two members who have a working relationship with Greek public television, which is prohibited by the EBU regulations. Another point is that all its members are radio producers, which does not ensure the diversity requested by national juries.

According to the regulation in force at Eurovision 2023, in case of cancellation of a jury, the televoting vote of that country is valid twice.

The members of the Greek jury are:

Christos Giakoumopoulos
Fotis (Takis) Giannoutsos
Nikolaos Nikolakopoulos
Claudia Matola
Evanthia Theotokatu

We will follow the matter with interest and bring you any further developments.
