EBU’s statement on the Eurovision 2024 participating countries list!

It is yet unknown which countries will compete in the 2024 Eurovision Song Contest, which will be held in May in Malmö, Sweden. This is in contrast with previous years, when the list of participating countries was released as early as October by the EBU.

There have been rumors circulating on which countries might or might not participate this year because of the delay. As a result, the EBU stated the following:

The list of public service media broadcasters who will take part next year is currently being finalized and will be published in its entirety once preparations are complete.

Thus, it can be inferred from this statement that the countries that will take part in Malmö have not yet been determined. After all, there have been instances in which the aforementioned list was released in January or December.

As of now 35 countries have confirmed their participation in Eurovision 2024, while four broadcasters -Bosnia and Herzegovina, Andorra, Monaco, and Slovakia- have announced that they will not return to the contest.

Sweden: Controversial Fröken Snusk is reportedly ready for Melodifestivalen 2024.

Torbjörn Ek and Stina Dahlgren, reporters at Aftonbladet just reported one more artists for Melodifestivalen 2024, back-to-back after their article last night!

We remind you that last year, Aftonbladet revealed 24 out of the 28 acts of Melodifestivalen 2023, even before SVT announced the line-up officially.

It’s none other than the epadunk star Fröken Snusk who is said to be ready and is one of the very first to be informed that she had been accepted, according to a source.

Fröken Snusk has made a big name for herself in the music genre epadunk in recent years with hits such as “Rid mig som en dalahäst” och “Raggarbilar (Warra warra)“. Many people are surprised that SVT has chosen to include an artist whose lyrics are often anything but family-friendly.

In addition to lyrics that relate to sex, Fröken Snusk is also known for the pink balaclava she always wears over her face. Her real identity is therefore a secret for the time being, and she has said in previous interviews that she has no plans to take off her mask.

It has been speculated that Fröken Snusk will compete together with the artist and producer Rasmus Gozzi. The two have together achieved great success and created several hits together. According to Aftonbladet’s sources, Rasmus will not be on stage during Melodifestivalen, but let Fröken Snusk shine herself. However, he will still be involved in the entry in some way and will therefore most likely be seen behind the scenes during the competition.

We remind you that Melodifestivalen 2024 is scheduled to take place between February 3rd to March 9th, while SVT has received 2624 songs.

Greece: Marina Satti’s first interview as the Greek representative | What to expect from her entry!

Marina Satti gave her first interview to “Studio 4” and ERT1 as Greece’s representative in Eurovision 2024. Marina discussed her initial preparations for the competition, the song she will perform in Malmö, as well as how she feels about this big challenge!

Marina Satti filmed the interview a few days earlier in the Acropolis for the needs of the introductory video that will be posted on the official Eurovision social media.

Marina Satti will probably sing in Greek

Marina Satti, who is thrilled to be entrusted to represent Greece in Eurovision 2024, described what we can expect from her participation in Eurovision in a few words but clearly:

I would like my project to be contemporary, to represents my generation and the “new” Greece, beyond the stereotypes that Europeans have about us, but also that it is relevant so that they can dance and identify with it.

Furthermore, she mentioned that the Greek verse is a favorite for her participation in the upcoming competition, where Greece will celebrate its 50th anniversary in the contest, as the English-language power pop song genre is somewhat far from the genre she belongs to.

Marina Satti’s favorite Eurovision entries

Marina Satti having Mahmood’s song from 2019, “Soldi”, as her favorite entry is somehow expected, but her favorite Greek entry was certainly unexpected.

Michalis Rakintzis‘ “SAGAPO”, the Greek entry in 2002, is her favorite Greek entry, and she did not hesitate to mention in front of the STUDIO 4 camera.

Preparations have already begun

Marina Satti mentions that she is very touched with the love and joy she received from everyone when ERT announced her as the country’s Eurovision representative. She also added that from now on she also shares a common goal with all those people supporting her.

The search for Marina Satti’s song continues, for those interested in submitting complete song proposals, until December 1st.

At the moment, I’m not stressed and I feel like I’m doing what I’m doing in my life anyway, rehearsing, making music and songs.

What did you think of what Marina Satti said? Stay tuned to Eurovisionfun for all the news!

Eurovision 2024: “United By Music” will remain as the slogan for the 68th Eurovision Song Contest!

We’re getting closer and closer to the 68th Eurovision Song Contest which will be held in Malmö, Sweden. In less than six months from today, the municipality of Malmö will welcome delegations and artists from all around the Europe as well as the world to spread the message of unity by music.

While, the preparations have started both for participating countries and the host country, EBU has just revealed the slogan for the 68th Eurovision Song Contest. The slogan announcement video reminded us how the slogans of Eurovision have evolved since its first introduction in 2002 to finish with the “United By Music”.

https://youtu.be/y_WGeiC5GbU

Hence, the “United By Music” slogan used in Liverpool earlier this year will remain for the following editions of the contest.

The reason behind this is that since ‘United By Music’ proved to be so successful, SVT and the ESC Reference Group, the event’s governing board, decided to use it again for the Eurovision Song Contest in Malmö, Sweden, the following year.

Furthermore, as part of the Contest’s worldwide branding strategy, it was agreed to maintain the phrase for all subsequent events.

By adopting a single, impactful motto for the Eurovision Song Contest in 2024 and all subsequent editions, the choice establishes continuity and consistency.

Martin Österdahl, the Executive Supervisor of the Eurovision Song Contest, said:

The Eurovision Song Contest is more than just a song competition; it’s a celebration of the power of music to bring people together. After over 20 years of using different slogans, and as we approach our 70th anniversary, we feel we have found one that truly encapsulates our brand.

By establishing a permanent slogan, we will have consistency in our message that music unites us all. It’s the perfect slogan to underline our values of inclusivity, equality, universality and celebrating diversity through music.

As the popularity of the Eurovision Song Contest continues to grow around the world, we believe using the same slogan annually will help our brand become even stronger.

Ebba Adielsson, Executive Producer of the 2024 Eurovision Song Contest for SVT added:

After Loreen’s win in Liverpool last spring, the whole machinery for the Eurovision Song Contest 2024 kicked into action and pretty soon the discussion about the slogan arose. We quickly realized that the great slogan chosen by the BBC says exactly what this competition is about, uniting in music, and we saw no reason to change something that sums up the foundation of the entire event so well.

It’s great that the EBU has also decided that this is the slogan that will be used by all host countries from now on. Right now, we are in the middle of the process of producing the artwork to match the slogan which will be revealed soon.

Why will “United By Music” remain as the contest’s motto?

“United By Music” encompasses the Eurovision Song Contest’s core ideals, which have a long history of encouraging diversity, inclusivity, and artistic expression. The motto reflects the Contest’s potential to bridge differences and spark a sense of commonality, regardless of nationality, language, or heritage.

The now-permanent slogan will serve as a constant reminder of the Contest’s primary objective and its unparalleled power to unite people through music, the universal language.

Eurovision 2024 will take place in Malmö, Sweden on 9,11 and 13 May 2024, following Loreen’s win in Liverpool.

Torbjörn Ek and Stina Dahlgren, reporters at Aftonbladet did it again and revealed one more participating act for Melodifestivalen 2024! We remind you that last year, Aftonbladet revealed 24 out of the 28 acts of Melodifestivalen 2023, even before SVT announced the line-up officially.

Aftonbladet just revealed that the “Swedish Hollywood Wives” reality star Gunilla Persson is ready for the competition. Reportedly, the song will focus on her persona “The Gunilla“.

The rumours have been circulating since the 64-year-old Gunilla Persson, and her daughter Erika Persson, were spotted in the songwriter and producer Fredrik Andersson’s music studio at the record company Cardiac in Ystad earlier this fall.

Initially people thought that her daughter was set to compete at Melodifestivalen 2024, but well informed sources say that Gunilla will perform, solo. The song is written by Fredrik Andersson who, among other things, wrote the Melodifestivalen winner “If I were sorry” with Frans. Andersson also has a bit of an expertise at writing songs that capture personalities without making fun of the person in question or who performs them, such as Fran‘s “Who’s da man” (the Zlatan song). Her participation is guaranteed to be the talk of the town next year, says a person familiar with the matter.
