The new Head of Delegation has been a senior executive at France TV for years, having even recently spent time as the organization’s entertainment director. The selection of an executive from France TV’s top management post to the position of head of delegation indicates how important French public television now attaches to the contest.

We are now eagerly awaiting the final announcements of France on how to choose to participate in Eurovision 2020!

France: Head of Delegation resigned

Eurovision 2020 will find many countries with new delegation chiefs, after Steven Clerima, head of the French delegation in the contest, announced his resignation.

Steven Clerima has been a member of France’s Eurovision delegations for the past four years. Ever since then, Amir with “J’ai cherché” has rekindled French interest in the competition. He took over as head of delegation last year after succeeding Edoardo Grassi. He was in fact the Head of Delegation of France to Eurovision 2019 and Junior Eurovision 2018 and 2019.

This change comes at a time when there are reports in the French press about changing the country’s approach to public television in how to opt in, with the most likely scenarios being direct assignment or a small national final with 3 or 4 songs.

Germany: New Head of Delegation

A series of changes to the country chiefs of Delegations in the Eurovision Song Contest, with Germany taking the lead. The country’s public broadcaster journalist Alexandra Wolfslast has been in charge of the German delegation since December 1st.

Alexandra Wolfslast will succeed Christoph Pellander, who has quit his job on German public television. Pellander was Germany’s head of delegation in the last two contests, leading his country to a fourth and one penultimate position.

For 2020,Germany trusted the production company Digame to find the right song, but also the performer who will feel the competition and be higher on the scoreboard than  S! Sters in Tel Aviv.

So far there has been no public announcement on the evolution of the option, although a concept similar to the one used by Switzerland this year is expected to be used. A closed choice, that is, with the only announcement of the winner.

Australia: New candidates for Eurovision: Australia Decides

Australia’s public broadcaster, SBS has announced two more candidates for its national final, “Eurovision: Australia Decides”, to be held in Gold Coast on 8 February. These are two more candidates announced, Montaigne and Didirri.

Montaigne

At just 24 years old, Sydney-based Montaigne has become a major name in Australian indie music. In recent years, she has been recognized for her work with several songs on the charts, an ARIA Award and one more nomination for Best Female Artist on her Glorious Heights debut album. COMPLEX’s second album was released in August.

“I am excited about participating in Eurovision: Australia Decides for the opportunity to release myself which is dramatic and extreme. I will be able to do this without a massive international music event as a boost, but in Europe’s big stage in front of millions of viewers it will be all the results of the drama I have inside me. It is an honor to represent my country, of course! I didn’t do that well in football, so it would be cool to do it in music. It’s like the World Cup for pop”

Didirri

Didirri’s debut “EP Measurements” has garnered more than 30 million views and led Didirri to perform at renowned festivals such as “The Great Escape” and “Latitude Festival” in the UK, “Splendor In The Grass” in Australia and the “Sound Primavera” in Barcelona. Within a few months, he had traveled twice to America and the United Kingdom and shared the stage with well-known artists.

“I’ve always been interested in creators. Although the world of Eurovision is new to me, from the outside it seems to respect a well-written song above all. People seem to be free to express their art any way they want. I’m an ABBA fan, they wrote unfiltered, virtual hymns. My sister and I were singing their songs together in the bathroom. The personal experience inspires most of my writing – all I hope to do is help people express some of them. I’m also happy to the moon for competing with my girlfriend Montaigne who I respect very much”

Four more candidates for Eurovision: Australia Decides!

The other six candidates will be announced in the near future with Paul Clarke ,executive producer “Eurovision: Australia Decides” promising more surprises. The six candidates announced so far are:

-Vanessa Amorosi
-Casey Donovan
-Mitch Tambo
-iOTA
-Montaigne
-Didirri

This year’s Australian National Final will also be hosted by radio producer and presenter Myf Warhurst and comedian Joel Creasey, who will also be airing the contest in May 2020 on behalf of SBS.

This year, Eurovision: Australia Decides winner Kate Miller-Heidke represented Australia in Tel Aviv, finishing ninth with 285 points.

Norwegian public broadcaster announced earlier the presenters of MGP 2020, the country’s national final for Eurovision 2020. The five semifinals and the final of MGP 2020 will be presented by Kåre Magnus Bergh, Ingrid Gjessing Linhave and Ronny Brede!

With “fresh” blood in the presentation of MGP 2020

She was even a program director for Norwegian Public Television. Ronny Brede Aase is a journalist, radio and television producer. He is one of the presenters of the P3morgen radio show, one of Norway’s most successful radio shows!

“It’s totally sick. I’ve grown up with the tradition of MGP since I was a little kid and I love it! It’s a little stressful all this. It looks like nothing I’ve done so far. But all this is a party, music and fun. Although I’m not the most expert on all this “glitter”, I’m definitely ready for the party”

Ronny Brede Aase, for his participation in MGP 2020

This is how the Norwegian representative at Eurovision 2020 will be selected

We remind you that MGP 2020 will consist of six shows, five semifinals and the grand final.

1st Semifinal, 11/1 – Northern Norway
2nd Semifinal, 18/1 – Central Norway
3rd Semifinal, 25/1 – Western Norway

But along with the five songs that will come out of the semifinals, in the final another five songs that have been directly qualified and selected by the jury that evaluated all submissions will feature .

The names of the finalists will be announced on January 3, while the names of the contenders in each semifinal will be announced on Monday before each semifinal. The day before each semifinal we will be given the publicity and the songs, while at the semifinals we will have the opportunity to hear a song by the live finalists.

Results in both the semi-finals and the final will be determined exclusively by the television audience.

MGP chief Stig Karlsen revealed that just like in 2019, at MGP 2020 we will have big names of the Norwegian music scene. The semifinals will take place at the H3 Arena in Fornebu, next to Oslo Airport, and the grand final at Trondheim Spektrum, in Trondheim, far from Oslo for the first time since 1989.

This year, Norway was represented by KeiiNO after their victory at MGP 2019 with their song “Spirit In The Sky”, which took sixth place in the Grand Final, but won the audience’s vote.

Albania: FiK 58 dates will not be changed

Despite being circulated online in recent hours, Albanian public broadcaster does not appear to be moving the dates of FiK 2019. The strong earthquake that struck the country and more than 50 deaths seemed to be the reason for the transfer of FiK 2019, which will also feature Albania’s next Eurovision 2020 representative for next month. But that is not the case.

As we have already seen through FiK’s Instagram account, live orchestra rehearsals have begun, which of course would not happen if the festival were held next month. But more importantly, to believe that the dates of FiK 2019 are not going to change, is the fact that the Greek author, whom we informed in a previous article that he was invited to be a member of the festival’s jury, has  been informed of the dates already known and has arranged with him his travel tickets to Tirana.

Albanian public television, RTSH, therefore prepares for the Festivali i Kenges 58 in Tirana on December 19, 20 and 22 and the winner will represent Albania at the 65th Eurovision Song Contest in May in Rotterdam. The innovation in the regulations compared to previous years is that this year the results will also be determined by an international committee, which has already invited important personalities to staff it.
