Eurovision 2022: United Kingdom’s second rehearsal

Today is the final day of rehearsals in Turin, with the second rehearsals of the BIG 5 countries!

Next up on stage for their second rehearsal is the United Kingdom and Sam Ryder with the song “SPACE MAN”.

Who is Sam Ryder?

Sam is a singer and songwriter from Essex who has seen his popularity go stratospheric, largely thanks to social media. The Brit co-wrote his Eurovision entry with Grammy winning songwriter Amy Wadge (Ed Sheeran, Thinking Out Loud) and Max Wolfgang, and with over 12 million followers and 100 million likes on TikTok, he is currently the most followed UK music artist on the platform.

As the world went into lockdown in March 2020, Sam uploaded the first of his now famous cover videos, quickly catching the attention of celebrity fans including Justin BieberSia and Alicia Keys, who even posted her own video reacting to his cover of her song If I Ain’t Got You.

Since then he’s been signed by Parlophone Records, released his debut EP (The Sun’s Gonna Rise), and received top-level support from the UK’s biggest radio stations.

The Rehearsal

The performance starts in the dark with Sam’s clothes glowing. Then the huge prop lights up and we see everything.

A very solid vocal performance by Sam who doesn’t hesitate to show his full range.

The prop opens during the final chorus and the lights turn gold. Sam also plays the guitar!

There were some errors with the cameras showing the crew moving the prop in the first run, but a huge applause in the end.

This is a strong contender.

During the second run the camera work improved. The third run was the best so far.

Eurovision 2022: First Rehearsal of the United Kingdom!

Today is the sixth day of rehearsals in Turin and the first rehearsals of the BIG 5 countries are going to be held today!

Next up on stage for their first rehearsal is United Kingdom and Sam Ryder with the song “SPACE MAN“.

Since then he’s been signed by Parlophone Records, released his debut EP (The Sun’s Gonna Rise), and received top-level support from the UK’s biggest radio stations.

The Rehearsal

The United Kingdom wins the biggest prop award of the contest so far. They’ve put up on stage a metal structure made up of three enormous wings, like something off the set of a science fiction movie. Just to have a comparison measure, each section is bigger than Australia’s staircase, maybe four or five metres high?

EBU / ANDRES PUTTING

Sam’s on an illuminated circular plinth in the middle, is wearing a black outfit with black and white trainers, giving it amazing vocals as the structure lights up, then finally opens up. It’s visually really impressive, and Sam does a great job of connecting with the cameras too. The final twenty seconds of this takes a turn from the recorded version, leading to an epic finale.

Interesting information about the stage presentation of some participations?

A number of interesting information is given by a user on Wiwibloggs. Of course, we are not able to know if everything that user says is true. However, because everything he supports about the Greek participation and the direction of Fokas Evangelinos are based, we decided to publish this information, telling you to always read carefully what follows, as they are not fully confirmed.

Initially, this user refers to the participation of the United Kingdom, saying that although he believes that this year the country will do much better than we are used to, Sam Ryder will not win, since the stage presentation of Space Man is not a winning one. He also gives a forecast saying that UK will be from the 7th to the 12th place.

As was reasonable the above raised questions to users, who ask Who am i? how he is so sure of what he mentions. Who am i? then claims that he had the opportunity to see and know some things about the stage presentation of about ten countries.

What is of particular importance for Greece is the following:

So according to what he reveals, a country that will hold its first rehearsal on May 1 and is currently in the top ten of bets, will do much better than is now expected. In addition, he advises us to be patient, since a lot will change during the rehearsals.

The countries that have rehearsals on May 1 and are in the top ten of bets are Greece and Norway. However, knowing that Norway will perform on the stage of the contest almost the same that Subwoolfer performed in the final of MGP 2022, our mind automatically goes to the Greek participation. In his next comment he makes it even more obvious that he is referring to Greece.

Finally, Who am i? says some things about Poland as well. On the one hand, he does not think that it will go as well as most people think, but also that the stage presentation is not so different from the national final.

Who am i? gives his own prediction of the final winner of the competition, which he considers to be one of the women’s ballads, without specifying here which one he has in mind.

Are they just speculations? Are opinions based on data he knows? In very few days we will know. However, the truth in his words that we can also confirm, is that the stage presentation of the Greek participation is the telling of a story that will really move.
