Eurovision 2022: United Kingdom’s second rehearsal

Today is the final day of rehearsals in Turin, with the second rehearsals of the BIG 5 countries!

Next up on stage for their second rehearsal is the United Kingdom and Sam Ryder with the song “SPACE MAN”.

Who is Sam Ryder?

Sam is a singer and songwriter from Essex who has seen his popularity go stratospheric, largely thanks to social media. The Brit co-wrote his Eurovision entry with Grammy winning songwriter Amy Wadge (Ed Sheeran, Thinking Out Loud) and Max Wolfgang, and with over 12 million followers and 100 million likes on TikTok, he is currently the most followed UK music artist on the platform.

As the world went into lockdown in March 2020, Sam uploaded the first of his now famous cover videos, quickly catching the attention of celebrity fans including Justin BieberSia and Alicia Keys, who even posted her own video reacting to his cover of her song If I Ain’t Got You.

Since then he’s been signed by Parlophone Records, released his debut EP (The Sun’s Gonna Rise), and received top-level support from the UK’s biggest radio stations.

The Rehearsal

The performance starts in the dark with Sam’s clothes glowing. Then the huge prop lights up and we see everything.

A very solid vocal performance by Sam who doesn’t hesitate to show his full range.

The prop opens during the final chorus and the lights turn gold. Sam also plays the guitar!

There were some errors with the cameras showing the crew moving the prop in the first run, but a huge applause in the end.

This is a strong contender.

During the second run the camera work improved. The third run was the best so far.
