Eurovision 2024: Which rehearsal has the most views on TikTok?

Two days ago, the first rehearsals for all 37 entries officially concluded, and today the second rehearsals are expected to be completed, with the Big 5 and the host country Sweden taking the stage at the Malmö Arena for the second time! This means that we are getting closer to the Eurovision week, with the Dress and Jury Rehearsals for the first semi-final starting on Monday.

However, as we know on TikTok, all the first rehearsals are uploaded. Apart from their performances, we’ll also get a sneak peek backstage before they take the stage for the first time in a video of about one minute.

One of the many features of TikTok is the ability to add songs to each user’s video creation. However, the TikTok algorithm is usually able to detect the song used in the video, assign it to the correct track, and then include it in the total number of videos where that sound has been used. Based on this capability, the most popular songs before rehearsals were from the Netherlands and Italy. Will they receive the same promotion as before?

The ranking with all the entries (in brackets will be the day of the rehearsal) based on the increasing number of views after one week from the start of the first rehearsals on TikTok is as follows:

TikTok has played a significant role in the success of Eurovision songs in recent years. For example, Duncan Laurence’s winning entry “Arcade” became a global hit a year after winning the competition when it was used in over a million videos on TikTok. One of the earliest TikTok successes from Eurovision was Getter Jaani’s “Rockefeller Street”, which went viral on the platform in 2018 and has since been used in over two million videos. Let’s not forget that Armenia’s entry in 2022 by Rosa Linn with “Snap” gained over a billion views on the platform. Finally, Norway’s entry last year gained significant worldwide publicity months before the competition week, where it secured fifth place.

Eurovision 2024: Which rehearsal had the most views on the sixth day?

Yesterday, the first rehearsals were officially concluded, with the Big 5 and the host country Sweden taking the stage at the Malmö Arena for the first time! Regarding what we liked and what we would like to see again, you can read our new editorial. Also, you can read our article from the day before yesterday about the rehearsals of the eight countries from the second semifinal who completed their rehearsals on Tuesday.

However, as we know on TikTok, all the first rehearsals are uploaded. Apart from their performances, we’ll also get a sneak peek backstage before they take the stage for the first time in a video of about one minute.

One of the many features of TikTok is the ability to add songs to each user’s video creation. Based on this capability, the most popular songs before rehearsals were from the Netherlands and Italy. Will they receive the same promotion as before?

In less than 24 hours (May 3, 2024, time 15:35 CET), since the first clip from the rehearsals was uploaded, we have a indicative sample of which rehearsal was favored by the audience (here it should be noted that the videos were uploaded one after the other with a one and a half hour interval and there was a significant delay in their publication).

The rehearsals that had the most views are:

  1. Sweden: Marcus & Martinus – Unforgettable – 344.1 thousand views
  2. United Kingdom: Olly AlexanderDizzy – 328.9 thousand views
  3. Spain: Nebulossa – Zorra – 264.1 thousand views
  4. France: Slimane – Mon Amour – 247.4 thousand views
  5. Germany: IsaakAlways On The Run – 152.9 thousand views
  6. Italy: Angelina MangoLa Noia – 136.1 thousand views

With this small sample, we can infer that:

  • Sweden and the United Kingdom impressed the fans, capturing the first and second positions respectively in views on their first rehearsal. Will they have the same response tomorrow when they take the stage for their second rehearsal?
  • Surprisingly, the favorite to win, Italy, and Angelina Mango are in the last position in views from their first rehearsal.
  • Since it has only been 20 hours since the first video was posted on TikTok, there is a possibility that countries will recover in views very soon.”

Stay tuned because tomorrow the overall ranking of all 37 entries based on their views on TikTok before the semi-finals will be revealed.

Eurovision 2024: Italy’s First Rehearsal!

Next up on the stage of Eurovision Song Contest 2024 is Italy. Angelina Mango with her song “La Noia” is ready for her first rehearsal on the stage of Malmö Arena!

Who is Angelina Mango?

With 4 platinum records, two gold records, and a completely sold-out tour, Angelina Mango was one of the break-out stars of 2023 in Italy.

Only 23 years of age, Angelina was born in a musical family environment. Both her parents, Laura Valente and Mango were professional musicians and singers. Angelina’s music is a mix that brings together different influences, including Italian and American rap, R&B and instrumental music.

In her songs, the singer-songwriter addresses issues and themes that are relevant to her, such as the anxieties of GenZ, love, the need for freedom and the value of family.

Angelina Mango won the prestigious Festival di Sanremo and therefore gained the right to represent Italy in Eurovision 2024, which she accepted. In fact, Angelina Mango is the first female Italian representative since 2016, the first female act to win Festival di Sanremo since 2014 and the first solo female act to win Festival di Sanremo and represent the country in Eurovision.

The Rehearsal

We’ve made it to the final first rehearsal of 2024, and it’s Italy’s Angelina Mango singing her song La Noia. She was a big breakout star in Italy in 2023, with a sell-out tour and a huge TikTok following. Next stop Sanremo, then Eurovision. She describes her music as influenced by Italian and American rap, R’n’B and instrumental music, and La Noia has elements of all of these.

This feels like a huge departure from Angelina’s performance at Sanremo, and even the official video – Angelina has five female backing dancers, and the staging feels like it’s set in a forest of naked trees. It also starts out with four of the five cubes lowered to the floor, projected with branches to enclose the dancers. So…four ACTUAL BOXES.

They raise to reveal Angelina in the middle backed by a huge throne also made of interwoven twigs and branches. Her costume is a red sparkly corset with plant-like patterns on her legs and arms, and her dancers have a similar style but without the red, so it’s more of a nude effect. The whole effect of trees and plants and flowers on the LED wall has a really fantastical appeal – like a psychedelic, magical woodland, but make it fashion.

Incidentally, La Noia translates as ‘the boredom’, and Angelina dances her way through it – literally the ‘cumbia of boredom’. Absolutely nothing boring about this staging – it’s full of colour and texture and richness. Photos coming soon!

Italy: Five dancers will be joining Angelina Mango in Malmö | Rehearsals have started!!

As we have informed you earlier this day, the intensive rumors regarding Angelina Mango’s choreographer for Eurovision 2024 have come true. Mecnun Giasar, also known as Majnoon, will take over as Italy’s choreographer for Angelina Mango’s performance in Eurovision 2024.

In fact and as Angelina Mango posted herself on her personal Instagram account, the rehearsals for Eurovision 2024 have started and she reveals that she won’t be alone on stage. Moreover, she will be joined by five female dancers (if you look closely on the third slide, Majnoon is teasing us with a small part of “La Noia’s” choreography)

However, it’s not known yet, whether Mecnun will only do Angelina’s choreography, or if he will be in charge of the whole direction.

Who is Mecnun Giasar?

Mecnun Giasar is a famous German choreographer. Among the artists Majnoon has choreographed are MadonnaBTS and Loreen, while his most notable collaboration is with Rosalia, with whom he created the viral choreography for the groundbreaking Motomami tour. In addition to being a choreographer, Majnoon is a self-proclaimed musician, producer, director, mentor and fashion icon.

Italy is not the only country that Majnoon is in charge of for Eurovision 2024. He is also in charge of Marina Satti’s choreography. Considering that Majnoon is working with both Italy and Greece, countries that are currently in the top ten of the betting odds, he is undoubtedly aiming high and is ready to conquer the Eurovision Song Contest.

Angelina Mango with her Sanremo-winning entry “La Noia” will represent Italy in the 68th Eurovision Song Contest. Italy, as a member of the BIG 5, is automatically granted a spot in the Grand Final of May 11.

Bets: Italy is now the second-favorite to win Eurovision 2024 | Ukraine in the third place!

When it comes to Eurovision 2024 betting odds, the surprises do not stop from coming. However, there is no clear favorite to win this year’s edition, as Croatia, which currently sits in the first place of the betting odds, has not reached yet Loreen’s winning chances.

Angelina Mango is now the second-favorite to win Eurovision 2024, behind Croatia and Baby Lasagna, after Italy managed to knock out Ukraine and Alyona Alyona and Jerry Heil from the second place.

The country’s chances of winning Eurovision 2024 were enhanced by Angelina Mango’s performances on RAI, along with RAI’s decision to have their artist participate in a pre-party after years of absence. The aforementioned reflects the country’s strong interest in the competition.

The numerous changes we’ve seen this year at the betting odds indicate an exciting year in which we won’t know the winner right away, as we have in the previous two seasons. Given that, we’re probably in for a repeat of 2021, when things got clearer during rehearsals, as before there were three-four songs fighting in “equal terms” for the victory.

Angelina Mango is the Italian representative in Eurovision 2024 with her Sanremo-winning entry “La Noia“. Italy, as a member of the BIG FIVE, is automatically granted a spot in the Grand Final of May 11, while Angelina Mango will also present her entry during the second semi-final.
