Two days ago, the first rehearsals for all 37 entries officially concluded, and today the second rehearsals are expected to be completed, with the Big 5 and the host country Sweden taking the stage at the Malmö Arena for the second time! This means that we are getting closer to the Eurovision week, with the Dress and Jury Rehearsals for the first semi-final starting on Monday.
However, as we know on TikTok, all the first rehearsals are uploaded. Apart from their performances, we’ll also get a sneak peek backstage before they take the stage for the first time in a video of about one minute.
One of the many features of TikTok is the ability to add songs to each user’s video creation. However, the TikTok algorithm is usually able to detect the song used in the video, assign it to the correct track, and then include it in the total number of videos where that sound has been used. Based on this capability, the most popular songs before rehearsals were from the Netherlands and Italy. Will they receive the same promotion as before?
The ranking with all the entries (in brackets will be the day of the rehearsal) based on the increasing number of views after one week from the start of the first rehearsals on TikTok is as follows:
The views were counted at 17:45 CET.
Based on the views from the first semi-final, the following countries will qualify (in ascending order): Poland, Serbia, Ukraine, Croatia, Ireland, Azerbaijan, Cyprus (seventh), Lithuania, Luxembourg, and Australia.
Similarly, from the second semi-final, the following countries will qualify: Netherlands, Greece, Switzerland, Georgia, Israel, Belgium, Armenia, Albania, Latvia, and Austria.
TikTok has played a significant role in the success of Eurovision songs in recent years. For example, Duncan Laurence’s winning entry “Arcade” became a global hit a year after winning the competition when it was used in over a million videos on TikTok. One of the earliest TikTok successes from Eurovision was Getter Jaani’s “Rockefeller Street”, which went viral on the platform in 2018 and has since been used in over two million videos. Let’s not forget that Armenia’s entry in 2022 by Rosa Linn with “Snap” gained over a billion views on the platform. Finally, Norway’s entry last year gained significant worldwide publicity months before the competition week, where it secured fifth place.

Coming up next for his second rehearsal is Mustii from Belgium to sing “Before The Party Is Over“!
With two successful albums under his belt, this flamboyant performer is no stranger to Belgian audiences.
Thomas Mustin is an author, composer, singer and actor, known for a plethora of roles in theatre, television and Netflix productions, including popular Belgian series La Trêve and feature films including Grave, Un Petit Boulot and L’Echange des Princesses.
In 2017, he landed a lead role alongside Mathilde Seigner in the French TV film “Je Voulais Juste Rentrer Chez Moi”, in which he played the infamous Patrick Dils, before playing Hamlet in 2019 under the direction of Emmanuel Dekoninck.
Mustii was selected internally by RTBF for Eurovision 2024. In fact, Mustii was the first Eurovision 2024 representative unveiled back in August 2023.
Time for Belgium’s Mustii now, rehearsing his dramatic ballad Before The Party’s Over. Mustii is a well-known name in Belgium – he’s a singer, actor and judge on Belgium’s version of Drag Race.
This performance brings a lot of the intense, slow-build mood we saw in the official video, with a circle of microphones on a smoky platform that slowly turns, and lots of cloudy graphics on the wall and floor. Mustii is wearing an open white shirt with a gem-encrusted top underneath that catches the arena light.
For the final section Mustii moves to front stage and lifts the roof off the arena – backing vocals for this song are provided by hundreds of Eurovision fans, so it’s very much a United By Music effort. The pounding drums at the end vibrate through the arena floor until you feel it in your chest – definitely another hold your breath moment from this year.
The Dress Rehearsal for Belguim and all the other Second Semi-Final participating countries is scheduled for Wednesday, 8th of May!

“Before The Party’s Over” was performed live by Mustii on VRT.
Listen to the acoustic version of Norway’s participation!
Mustii performed live the Belgian entry on the VRT television channel and answered the journalist’s questions. Due to the situation in Gaza, Israel’s participation is very sensitive, and there have been calls for a boycott. According to Mustii, this doesn’t make sense; he will not boycott the competition.
It may sound a bit cheesy, but I prefer to bring a message of hope and love.

Back in the end of August, RTBF, the French-speaking public broadcaster of Belgium, announced that Mustii, will be the country’s representative in Malmö, being the first artist of the Eurovision 2024 season, to be announced!
Mustii was selected internally by RTBF, which even contacted him back in July of 2022, having previously worked with them as a judge in Drag Race Belgium, which is produced by the public broadcaster.
Mustii’s anticipated song for Eurovision 2024, was revealed through the morning show called “Le 8/9”
His song is titled “Before The Party’s Over” and is entirely in English (You can listen to it in the video below):
Talking about his song, Mustii mentioned the following:
My style evolves into pop with a dark edge. I have influences from new wave and rock, but they remain pop albums. I contrast pop with fragile subjects, I like to play with them. My last album, for example, was a homage to my uncle who had schizophrenia.
Mustii retains his musical identity in the Eurovision stage and his song be pop with some dark elements but also new wave and rock, according to his music style, which his fans are accustomed to.
Thomas Mustin, better known by his stage name Mustii, is a novelist, composer, singer, and actor. He has been in a number of stage performances, television shows, Netflix original series, and feature films like “Grave”, “Un Petit Boulot”, and “L’Echange des Princesses”.
He was cast as the infamous Patrick Dils in the 2017 French TV drama “Je Voulais Juste Rentrer Chez Moi” before taking on the role of Hamlet in 2019 under the direction of Emmanuel Dekoninck.
Mustii has achieved success as a singer in addition to acting. Mustii is known for seducing audiences with his captivating voice, which is both powerful and fragile at the same time. He has two albums to his credit, “21st Century Boy” and “It’s Happening Now”, which were commercial successes, successful tours (selling out the Ancienne Belgique on three occasions), and he won the “Revelation of the Year” trophy at the D6bels Music Awards.
